A career-defining week for 'Romeopro' helped him jettison up the rankings to challenge the #1 ranked 'C Darwin2'

A trio of high profile spring online poker series has wreaked havoc on the PocketFives Worldwide Top 10 Rankings. In fact, rankings of nine of the top 10 players shifted this week. The only exception…the number one spot still belongs to ‘C Darwin2′.

As PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker, partypoker’s POWERFEST and 888poker’s XL Inferno provide players some of the largest prize pools of the year, online poker’s elite are on the full-time grind. The results posted by those who end up crushing the competition is enough to help them make major moves in the rankings. That said, current king of online poker ‘C Darwin2’ fended off all challengers and retained his top spot.

Perhaps the most interesting part of ‘C Darwin2’s week is that his largest qualifying PLB score had nothing to do with any of the major series. His PLB point boost, to keep him as the only player propped up above 11,000 PLB points came in the May 7 edition of the PokerStars $215 Monday Six Max. He took third in that tournament for $16,888 and 240.19 points.

That was good enough this week but if Roman ‘Romeopro’ Romanovsky continues on the incredible heater he has been on, next week we may see a new number one for the first time all year. Romanovsky rocketed up 10 spots to a career-high #2 ranking this week. Romanovsky accumulated three six-figure scores and an additional three five-figure scores in what must be the best week of his online poker career. He ripped off a victory in PokerStars SCOOP Event #2 (High) for $123,935, another victory in SCOOP Event #16 (High) for $138,536 and a runner-up finish in SCOOP Event #14 (High), the $25,000 NLHE High Roller for $442,299. In total, Romanovsky banked over $834,000 this week and now sits on the doorstep of the exclusive $10 million lifetime earnings club.

What’s the only thing better than coming in second in the $25,000 High Roller? Andreas ‘probirs’ Nemeth was the player to best Romanovsky to take down that prestigious event. The win in SCOOP Event #14 (High) brought him $576,087 plus 1,581 PLB points, helping him climb three spots to land in the #3 ranking this week. Just like Romanovsky, the score in Event #14 represents a career-high cash for the Hungarian. In total, Nemeth accumulated over 2100 PLB points during the week, yet still sits around 1100 points behind the #1 spot.

‘hellohellohello’ may have slipped a couple spots to the #4 ranking this week but the Russian certainly held his own in terms of results. He accumulated five qualifying cashes this week and his efforts were highlighted by cashing in both of PokerStars’ SCOOP Event #14, both the High and Mid, for a total combined earnings of over $107,000.

Sweden’s ‘lena900’ also took a couple steps back, slipping from #3 to # 5 this week. He finished in fourth place during SCOOP Event #14-M for just over $87,000 and 514.29 PLB points. He and ‘C Darwin2’ are partners in the high-stakes $100,000 results prop bet against Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard and ‘bencb789’.

Hello once again to Belgium’s #1-ranked professional ‘girafganger7’  who, after reinstating his screen names, instantly appears in the top 10 at #6. The former #1-ranked player posted a runner-up finish in partypoker’s POWERFEST Event #18 for $14,895 and 258.70.

Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford jumped up into the #7 spot due to earning six qualified PLB scores including a second place finish in POWERFEST Event #2-HR for over $47,000.

After Latvia’s Guntis ‘lovefee’ Aleskins took down SCOOP Event #14-M for a career-high cash of just over $240,000 he bounced up into the top 10 for the first time ever. He currently sits acareer-highhigh ranking of #8. The true grinder that he is, just days after basking in a career-defining victory later he found himself playing a pair of $20-something tournaments, cashing for just under $300 for the two.

The top 10 is rounded out by a pair of familiar names as Steven ’SvZff’ van Zadelhoff slipped 5 spots to #9 on light volume and Ramiro ‘Ramiro’ Petrone hits the #10 spot even after booking a victory in SCOOP Event #19-M for $57,321.

While there was some major shifting within the top 10, there were no other new entries into the top 25 this week.
