As the 2017 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event was playing down to a final table on Monday, there was one name that had a lot of people talking. Belgium’s ‘girafganger7‘ was at the final two tables of the High version of the Main Event while also chip leader of Event #1 High ($1,050 NLHE Phase 2). While he didn’t win either event, he did enough to move into the #1 spot on the PocketFives Rankings for the first time in his career.
He finished runner-up in Event #1 for $745,000 and 1,591.77 PLB points and then bubbled the Main Event High final table for $72,567 and an additional 661.25 points. That wasn’t the end of his run though. That same day he won the partypoker High Roller for $22,130/316.23. He now sits atop the rankings with 10,414.06 and has ended the 10-week run of ‘lena900’.
The next four spots belong to players from Sweden, lead by ‘lena900‘. He posted four qualifying cashes this past week, three of them from SCOOP and another from partypoker Powerfest. Those four results were worth 671.65 points which allowed to barely hold off #3-ranked ‘inhoo‘, who posted five qualifying cashes of his own for 1,154.98 points.
‘Ariados‘ earned 1,191.7 points this week thanks to five qualifying cashes, the highlight being a 24th place in the SCOOP High Main Event for $46,088/391.06.
Former #1 ‘C Darwin2‘ did his best to move up the rankings, winning a Powerfest event for $11,408/268.51 and finishing seventh in the SCOOP High Main Event for $178,883/819.05. He also managed a smaller Powerfest cash for $7,120/181.85.
Two players moved back into the top 10 this week. Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth moved from #11 to #7 and another Swede, ‘Sheater‘ went from #15 to #10. Andreas ‘r4ndomr4gs’ Berggren and Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard both dropped out of the top 10.
