Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth is the #4-ranked player in the world (PokerStars photo)

Fabrizio ‘SixthSenSe19’ Gonzalez continues to be the world’s top-ranked online poker player, but a new threat has emerged to challenge the Uruguayan for world supremacy. After not being included in the PocketFives Rankings for the better part of four years, Andras ‘probirs’ Nemeth is back and now sits in the #4 spot.

Nemeth not only came back to the rankings but put up some results as well. On Sunday alone he finished second in the $215 Bounty Builder on PokerStars for $12,144 and 208.84 PLB points, fifth in the PokerStars PLO Sunday Grand for $9,690/149.41 and then runner-up in the partypoker Super High Roller for $30,450 and 251.23. In the past 30 days, he’s also won the partypoker Super High Roller ($53,250/421.31) and the PokerStars PLO Sunday Grand ($38,461/442.72).

Gonzalez maintained his hold on the top spot for the fifth straight week despite not being able to add to his PLB total. He made the final table of the partypoker Six Max Turbo High Roller on November 8 and a $215 Turbo event on PokerStars, but neither result was big enough to improve his standing.

A runner-up finish in the partypoker Heavyweight for $20,608 and 257.9 PLB points and a win in the WPN Extreme Tuesday for $10,3305/214.01 kept Alex ‘alexd2’ Dimitrov in second spot yet again. He now trails Gonzalez by 478.47 points.

Joao Mathias ‘joaomathias’ Baumgarten maintained his hold on the #3-ranking. The former #1 player did so despite not managing to record a single qualifying cash over the past seven days. His closest calls came on partypoker last Sunday when he finished fifth in the Six Max High Roller and sixth in the High Roller.

Nemeth’s inclusion at #4 meant the rest of the list all moved down. ‘lena900‘, who was #4 last week, dropped to #5 despite his victory in the partypoker Super High Roller for $47,125 and 380.79 points and runner-up finishes in a PokerStars $320 Six Max event for $6,287 and 131.79 and a partypoker High Roller for $9,250 and 147.53. He trails Nemeth by 28.7 points.

The only other player to move into the top 10 this week was Canada’sJoel ‘jbrown8777’ Brown. A win in the partypoker Six Max High Roller on November 8 added $12,280 to his bankroll and 118.41 points to his total. He also managed a third place finish in the PokerStars Big $215 on November 12 for $5,741 and 122.63. The #1-ranked player in Canada is now just seven spots off of his all-time high of #3 in the world.
