New Jersey's Yong Kwon rises to #1 in the United States with the help of a WSOP bracelet victory.

After his World Series of Poker online bracelet win earlier in June, New Jersey’s Yong ‘ykwon17’ Kwon (aka ‘LuckySpewy1’) sits atop the PocketFives United States Online Poker Rankings.

Kwon (5,909 PLB points) had a stellar start to the month thanks to his June 2 victory in WSOP Event #7 ($400 Online NLHE Bracelet Event) where he took home a career-high cash of $165,263, 1,008.46 PLB points and his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet. Since that score, Kwon continued to pile up PLB points by as he picked up outright victories in eight different online events, including WSOP.com’s OC #35 ($300,000 GTD Player Appreciation Tournament) where he earned his second six-figure score of the month ($121,730) and another hefty dose (719.11) of PLB points.

While other players opted to put in a live grind in Las Vegas at the Rio, Kwon continued his online grind throughout the month of June and it really paid off. Not only is he currently sitting as the #1-ranked player in the US, he’s ranked a career-best #82 in the world and he also added over $352,000 in earnings during the month.

Now Kwon sits just $10K shy of $2.5m in lifetime career earnings and should he continue to grind as he did in June, he’s likely to be a major player in the U.S. Online Poker Rankings for many months to come.

Sitting in the #2 spot in the U.S. is Daniel ‘centrfieldr’ Lupo (5,622) who, like Kwon, celebrated a World Series of Poker bracelet victory in June as well. On June 20, the New Jersey online grinder took down WSOP Event #48 ($500 Online NLHE Turbo) for $145,273 and his first gold bracelet.

Lupo picked up 12 PLB-qualifying cashes including highlight victories in the June 3 WSOP.com OC #7 ($50,000 NLH Sunday Six Max) for $20,336 and 291.09 PLB points and OC #100 ($50,000 NLH Tuesday Showdown) for another $19,511 and 207.26 PLB points. In total, Lupo pulled in over 40 cashes for just over $249,000 for the month.

The victory also catapulted Lupo to a new career-high worldwide ranking where he currently sits at #89 in the world.

After spending two months in the #1 spot, Ryan ‘shipthesherb’ Hohner (4,799) falls to the #3 ranking this month. It’s completely understandable as Hohner spent part of June in Las Vegas playing live at the World Series of Poker and putting in light online volume.

However, when Hohner was online he really made it count. He racked up four PLB qualifying scores including four four-figure scores during WSOP.com’s OC. One of Hohner’s spotlight scores came during WSOP.com’s OC #99 ($85,000 NLH High Roller) where he finished in fifth place taking home $9,550 and 131.55 PLB points. Like both Kwon and Lupo, Hohner is also at a current all-time high in the worldwide rankings, currently sitting at #140.

Vladimir ‘Donate_here’ Alexandrov (4,498) surged into the #4 spot in the U.S. with the help of a couple of final table appearances during the WSOP.com OC series. On June 24, Alexandrov finished in fourth place in Event # 92 ($50,000 NLH) for $11,369 and 177.98 PLB points. He then backed it up two days later with another fourth-place result in Event #99 ($85,000 NLH High Roller) for $11,938 and 150.39 PLB points.  Alexandrov accumulated eight PLB qualifying scores in June putting him only 301 points behind Hohner.

Wrapping up the current top 5 is Michael ‘Gags30’ Gagliano (3,901). After recording some early cashes in the live arena at the World Series of Poker early in June, ‘Gags’ turned his attention back to the online grind later in the month. In total, the New Jersey pro recorded seven online results, three of which were good for PLB points including a victory in the June 23 edition of the PokerStars NJ Sunday Special for $6,900 and 173.21 PLB points.
