Russia’s Aleksandr ‘NoPlanB’ Mordvinov won the May PocketFives Leaderboard

Like other poker players, Russia’s Aleksandr ‘NoPlanB’ Mordvinov hit it big during the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker last month. During the series’ Main Event, he made the final table and finished in ninth place for $104,000, the largest score of his online poker career. He also earned 756 PLB Points for the PocketFives Rankings.

Those points helped secure the win in the May Monthly PocketFives Leaderboard. All told throughout the 31-day period, ‘NoPlanB’ earned 3,899 PLB Points and edged out the second place tally belonging to Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford by 50. Needless to say, it was a close finish between two extremely talented players.

Mordvinov started May off on the right foot, finishing second in the PokerStars Sunday Grand for $63,000 and 445 PLB Points. That tournament had 455 entrants and a prize pool of $455,000. The $63,000 he got for winning it was his fifth largest score all-time.

On May 15, he found the winner’s circle of an online MTT that PocketFives tracks for the first time in May, and it was a big one. He took down the partypoker High Roller for $20,000 and 317 PLB Points. The same day, he took down the 888 Turbo Mega Deep for $13,000 and piled on another 261 PLB Points.

Two days later, the Russian won the PokerStars Hot $162 for $13,000 and almost 300 PLB Points. The same day as his Hot $162 win, he had an encore performance in the Winamax High Roller, taking that tournament down for $14,000 and another 229 PLB Points. Those wins made up his second career PocketFives Triple Crown, an award that requires a person to win three $10,000 prize pool tournaments across three sites tracked for the rankings within a week.

His SCOOP Main Event ninth place run happened on May 22 and, one day later, he cashed in a SCOOP $1,050 No Limit Hold’em event for another $11,000.

This is the first MPLB title that Mordvinov has won. And it’s just the third MPLB title that Russia has won over the years. His 3,899 PLB Points were the most by any MPLB winner since the 3,992 scored by Sweden’s ‘eisenhower1‘ last September.

Because of his recent success, ‘NoPlanB’ is up to #8 worldwide in the rankings, two spots off his all-time high set earlier this year, and is the top-ranked Russian.

Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford finished second in the May MPLB race

Beresford won the partypoker High Roller on the seventh day of May for $11,000 and 223 PLB Points. One day later, he took gold in the site’s Super High Roller, a $2,600 buy-in tournament, for a $64,000 score and almost 500 PLB Points.

Beresford’s biggest score during May came on the 17th in a $2,100 No Limit Hold’em Four-Max event. He won that tournament, which had 308 entrants, for $171,000 officially and a mammoth 784 PLB Points. And if that weren’t enough, the next day, he was the runner-up in a partypoker Powerfest event and racked up $28,000.

The SCOOP and partypoker Super High Roller wins were the largest and third largest of Beresford’s career, respectively. He’s up to 84 career wins and is the top-ranked online poker player in the United Kingdom.

Third place in the May MPLB went to Sweden’s ‘lena900‘, who had a score of 3,565 points. His big hit during the month came in a SCOOP $2,100 Pot Limit Omaha Heads-Up tournament. He finished third in that event for $35,000. Also in May, he won the partypoker High Roller for $26,000 and took down a Powerfest High Roller event for $15,000.
