Entry Numbers were up across the board in the Sunday Majors with 2016 World Championship of Online Poker getting underway on PokerStars. Five WCOOP events started on Sunday but only one of them finished, with a recent EPT High Roller winner walking away with yet another big score.

Connor Drinan, who won the EPT Barcelona €10,300 High Roller last week, walked away with the first WCOOP title of 2016 after winning Event #5 ($320 No Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Six Max) for $26,614.82.

Long-time PocketFives member Sebastian ‘p0cket00’ Sikorski of Canada (ranked #41 worldwide) won the PokerStars Sunday Grand outright for $64,513 while also finishing runner-up in the Sunday Supersonic for another $25,533. Those two scores could catapult the former #1 player into the Top 10 worldwide once the PocketFives Rankings update later this week.

Boris ‘olelemaiko’ Kolev of Bulgaria had a career outing Sunday when he took down the Stars $700 buy-in Super-Sized Sunday Progressive KO event for nearly $44,800 to go along with a separate bounty payout of $26,807. Australian online tournament specialist ‘mjw006‘ (ranked #39) was the eventual winner of the Stars Sunday Supersonic for $32,249.

Brazilian Joao Paulo ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao is making a new bid to regain his #1 overall worldwide ranking thanks to winning the $2,600 buy-in partypoker Super High Roller event for $53,197. The lower buy-in “High Roller” tournament was won by Russia’s ‘NikolasDLP‘ for $45,141. The #8-ranked Russian player is all but guaranteed a return into the Top 100 as a result.

PocketFiver ‘Storm1993‘ of Belarus outlasted more than 24,000 opponents to capture an outright victory in the Stars Sunday Storm for $24,971 — his largest online event cash to date.

‘Checktrap11‘ of the United Kingdom took down the 888 Poker $600 buy-in WHALE event and received $37,609. Online poker player ‘Bumbi320‘ (who also final-tabled the WHALE) chopped the Mega Deep tournament for $26,439 with ‘Zluka2010‘ who walked away with $24,192 in second place.
