Taylor taypaurPaur just missed a chance at back-to-back World Poker Tour (WPT) titlesrecently, finishing in third place at the WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event for $113,154.

A few days ago, Paur won over $1.2 million by beating out a PocketFives-infused final table, including Isaac mr. menloBaron, Jacob bazemanBazeley, Sorel Imper1umMizzi, and Faraz The-ToiletJaka in WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Main Event.

Paur wasn’t the only player to find himself at back-to-back final tables in a WPT Main Event, as Ravee Mathi Sundar finished in sixth place in the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star before going on to win the WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event last night for over $266,857.

Going into Day 3, it appeared Paur would have a good shot at back to back WPT Main Event titles with a decent chip lead over the rest of the competition. Paur ended the day and entered the final table in third place in chips, while all attention was turned to fellow PocketFiver Harrison gibler123 Gimbel who had the chip lead going the final day of action.

Action on the final table began fast with chips flying. On the 13th hand of play, Jeff Griffiths was eliminated by Paur in 6th place, cashing for over $50,000 when his 7d-7c didn’t hold-up against Paur Kh-Jh on a Jd-5c-4d-Js-As board.

Just two hands later, it was Rex Clinkscales‘ turn to hit the showers, also finding himself on the losing end to Paur. Clinkscales cashed for almost $63,000 when his Ah-8s was unable to improve against Paur’s As-Qc.

After losing a bit of his stack, Gimbel was the next to exit on the 43rd hand of the final table for almost $84,000. Gimbel was almost able to get his 8-high river bluff bet to work, however, after seven minutes of tanking, Sundar called with pocket queens on a king-high board.

For the next 98 hands, stacks between the remaining three players went back and forth, until Paur went all-in with Ad-Th and was unable to improve his hand after Sundar called with As-Qh.

While Paur’s run to back to back WPT Main Event victories just fell short, two other players have remarkably completed this feat during WPT Season XIII.

Anthony Zinno just accomplished the feat of back to back WPT victories by winning the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic in February for over $300,000 before winning over $1 million in his victory in the WPT L.A. Poker Classic a couple of weeks ago.

Darren darrenelias Elias (pictured) earlier in the season won back to back WPT titles with victories in the WPT Borgata Poker Open for over $800,000 in September 2014 and in the WPT Caribbean Main Event for over $100,000 in November 2014.

Here is how the final table payouts in the WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event were paid to the winners.

1. Ravee Mathi Sundar – $266,857
2. Jesse Rockowitz – $176,018
3. Taylor taypaur Paur – $113,154
4. Harrison gimbel123 Gimbel – $83,818
5. Rex Clinkscales – $62,864
6. Jeff Griffiths – $50,291

Congrats to Paur on his amazing run to just miss out on back to back WPT victories.
