Everyone dreams of that big score, and for many players, winning the PokerStars Sunday Millionis the Mount Everest of online accomplishments. After five years of playing poker seriously, German native Servej did just that, taking down the Sunday Million outright for a colossal $173,000, defeating a field of 5,552.

It was a dream come true,” Servej told PocketFives, “because I’m a more of a low-limit grinder only taking some shots. I’m really happy.” He bought in directly to the Sunday Million and plays higher buy-in games with the help of a backer. However, that Sunday, he said he was playing “pretty good poker and decided to be more spontaneous” and so bought in without any financial assistance. That was a $173,000 decision.

As far as his plans for the money go, Servej said he wants to invest in the stock market and set some aside to go to Las Vegas next year. He has no interest in playing higher stakes games, however, telling us, “I know there are a lot of better players out there.”

Servej won the Big $109 ten days after his Sunday Million victory and added another $17,000 to his coffers. Consequently, he’s up to almost $700,000 in career online tournament winnings and said he got started in poker between lectures at the end of 2005 and began dabbling in online poker in early 2006. He explained, “I had some success and decided to give poker a try in 2010. Before that, it was more of a fun activity and I earned some small money.” He plays full-time now and has a degree in Social Science.

Servej is a big traveler and, in fact, played the Sunday Million from Thailand, where he won while seated in a bright pink plastic chair. Needless to say, it doesn’t look comfortable, but apparently it worked. He also plays chess and table tennis.

Okay, we’ll talk about the pink plastic chair. It was important enough that we included a picture of it in this article. Servej explained, “I live in Phuket right now and have a small room with my girlfriend. I met her on our journey through Asia last year. I was on a nine-month tour with another poker friend and we went to Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Singapore, Thailand, and the Philippines… I like the easy way of living and don’t need luxury. I won some money early on and bought a nice BMW Z3, but I don’t give myself a lot like that.”

He added, “A lot of my friends have asked me what will change about my life after this score. I was happy before and will not change much, so I have to keep playing on this pink plastic chair.”

Servej is #773 worldwide in the PocketFives Poker Rankings and is #16 in his native Germany. He has been a member of PocketFives for the last two years.
