On January 3, Austria poker player monzemann(pictured) completed the third and final leg of a PocketFives Triple Crown. The award is given to anyone who can win three tournaments across three different sites tracked for the PocketFives Rankings within seven days. Each tournament must have at least 100 entrants and at least a $10,000 prize pool. Ultimately, monzemann recorded the second largest Triple Crown PLB Point-wise in the last 15 months at 914 points.

On December 28, monzemann won the 888 PokerMega Deep for $34,000 and 404 PLB Points. The $90 tournament had 818 entrants and a prize pool of $163,000. The same day, he took down the iPoker Sunday Masters, which takes place on sites like Betfair, and reeled in $7,900 and 191 PLB Points.

Although they didn’t count for the Triple Crown, monzemann won a pair of tournaments on Winamax on December 30 – the Prime Time and the Deep Run – for $3,500 total. One day later, he took down another Winamax tournament, the Magnum, for $1,500.

His Triple Crown run came to an end on January 3 via a victory in the PokerStars $2.22 Rebuy for $14,000 and 318 PLB Points. A total of 914 PLB Points later, monzemann had earned the second largest Triple Crown since October 2013. The Austrian finished second in the Sunday Warm-Up in November for $72,000 officially, his largest tracked score to date.

His Triple Crown PLB total trails only the 1,044 points recorded by Ssick_one, who won tournaments on Winamax, Full Tilt, and PokerStars last month for his third award.

The largest Triple Crown in the history of PocketFives came in 2010, when mathclubwon tournaments on Cake, PokerStars, and PartyPoker for a blistering 1,762 PLB Points. There have been four PocketFivers whose Triple Crowns have generated more than 1,500 PLB Points, the most recent of which came in May 2013.
