The sixth UB.com Online Championship, or UBOC, wrapped up in recent weeks. Coming away with the victory in the series’ Main Event was PocketFives.com member TheDecano (pictured), who banked $231,000 for his efforts and made his home nation of Brazil quite proud. PocketFives.com caught up with TheDecano to discuss his monumental cash.

This week, TheDecano leapt from 75th to 45th in the PocketFives.com Rankings, and for good measure. He has a pair of Triple Crowns and over $1 million in tracked cashes. “It was an awesome win in a tough field,” TheDecano triumphantly told us about the UBOC 6 Main Event. “The best online players were there.” The field had just over 1,000 entrants and a total prize pool of $1.03 million was dished out.

How do you celebrate your largest online poker score ever? And how do you do so in the great nation of Brazil? TheDecano explained, “We went to a great party. My friend is a DJ and we had a great time.” He edged out UB.com member IBIZADREAMS heads-up and the top 99 players finished in the money.

TheDecano originally built his bankroll by playing Turbo Sit and Gos on the iPoker and Ongame Networks. Despite his rampant success online, TheDecano admitted, “I love to play live. In 2008, I decided to play some WPTs, EPTs, and the WSOP. And I was so lucky and got a great deal at WPT Barcelona in 2008. I won an EPT event in Monte Carlo in 2009 and finally got a third place finish in a WSOP event last year. It was a great Brazilian party there – everybody was singing and rooting a lot for me. That was priceless.”

His third place finish in a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em event won by Jesse Rockowitz at the 2010 WSOP was worth $315,000. He cashed in the aforementioned WPT Paris stop for nearly $200,000, but told us that Sin City is his favorite live poker destination. “I live in an awesome beach city,” TheDecano explained. “The most beautiful girls are here, but my second option to live would be Las Vegas. To play in the WSOP is every poker player’s dream. I’m very excited to grind the WSOP this year and want to win a bracelet.”

TheDecano is currently tops on the Sortable Rankingsfor Brazil by a wide margin. His 7,347 PLB Points are vastly ahead of the second place tally of 6,626 belonging to caio_pimenta(pictured). Other Brazilian players include the likes of PokerStars pro Alexandre AllingomesGomes and 99th ranked iPlayTourneys.

On the state of poker in the South American country, TheDecano remarked, “Poker has grown a lot in Brazil. I think there are about three million poker players here. I don’t know if we have a lot of good players, but we have some great names and that will increase for sure. Brazilians love poker. You can see it on the rails online and live. When you love something, you’ll probably try to learn it and increase your skills.”

If the 2011 Yearly PLBon PocketFives.com ended right now, TheDecano would finish in second place to January’s Monthly PLBwinner, Bryan bparis Paris (pictured). TheDecano has his sights set on the top spot: “I’m second on PocketFives.com this year and trying to grind as much as I can. I’m going to play some live tournaments, especially WSOP events. The FTOPS is underway too and it would be great to win an event.”
