“Time to pack up and move.” That was one of the first comments in PocketFives’ feature article on Tuesday about the launch of real money regulated online poker in Nevada. Ultimate Poker opened its doors to Nevada players on Tuesday, albeit with a few hiccups, and there were plenty of questions to be had from customers. You can read more about the site in our Ultimate Poker review. What was fairly universal, however, is that Nevada could quickly become a beacon for online poker players, and Twitter was abuzz with the news.

Ultimate Poker ambassador Antonio Esfandiari was among those lighting up the social networking site on Tuesday shortly after the 9:00am Pacific Time launch. “The Magician,” who is also tournament poker’s all-time money leader, Tweeted, “Could not be more excited! @UltimatePoker deals first hand of real money poker in the US! #pokersback #letsdothis.” Esfandiari was featured in a Times Square ad early on Tuesday (pictured).

Reigning World Series of Poker Main Event champion Greg gregy20723 Merson also chimed in about the site’s debut, posting on Twitter, “So excited to hear about Nevada getting the first real money hands dealt out online today, hopefully one of many big days moving forward.”

Jon sketchy1 Eaton’s Tweets about Ultimate Poker spanned several hours. One of the first came early in the day and read, “Damn, apparently I missed the launch of legal online poker here in NV because I was playing outside the park baseball for a week straight.” He then posted, “Finally verified on @UltimatePoker. Gonna deposit at GVR then prob win all of the $ that got deposited today before sunset.” Eaton later expressed his distaste for the captcha on Ultimate and threatened to boycott the site.

Poker pro Peter Jetten was also captivated by the news, Tweeting, “Can’t believe I’m living in a world where a new poker company is open for business named Ultimate Poker.” Then there was Jimmy gobboboy Fricke, who alluded to the potential expansion of Ultimate to other states besides Nevada: “I wonder how many people are registering for @UltimatePoker when they don’t even live in Nevada just so they can get the name they want.”

Pots as high as $600 were reported on Ultimate on Day 1. Speaking of pots, William Reynolds XO Reynolds joked, “Whoever wins the first legal online poker tournament in the USA on @UltimatePoker today is gonna have great Twitter bio upgrade.”

Bryan bmiconMicon was getting a little help from Terrence TChan Chan (pictured), another Ultimate Poker ambassador, on Tuesday. Micon Tweeted, “Trying to set up @UltimatePoker and MMA fighter @tchanpoker is trying to help me verify that I’m me. Not telling ne1 my screen name either.”

Ultimate was experiencing issues with text messages as well as Verizon cell phones, which are used to verify that players are in Nevada. The company posted a message to Verizon users on Tuesday that read in part, “Until Verizon Wireless fixes this technical error, you will be unable to play on Ultimate Poker.”
