Tournament Review for 5-27-2005 through 5-29-2005
There were some massive overlays this weekend, a weekend that was already exciting due to the arrival of most of the biggest tournaments on the net. Among others, Bodog had an overlay of $43,600 in their $100k guaranteed event, and the Paradise Masters II had an overlay of more than $200,000!!!
Speaking of the Masters, three pocketfivers (foshio, bakota_tokyo, and tallnywrtr AKA the_schmenx) made the final table and will be flown out to Costa Rica in July to finish the tournament. This was quite an accomplishment for each of these players, beating more than 2,000 opponents en route to a payday of anywhere between $13,839 and $311,389. The players who made the final table, in order of chip count, were Haligon, Yorkian, foshio, bl0wback, CraigGray, baseballfan, omalley, bakota_tokyo, tallnywrtr, and Captian Ron.
PartyPoker had their periodic $1M guaranteed event, which paid out a huge amount of cash as always, and PokerStars had their monthly $500 buy in $500k guaranteed tournament. In the PokerStars tournament, Exclusivejust missed the final table, taking 14th place and more than $5k.
Back on Paradise, spencermanpicked up another win in the $100k guaranteed, and acesfull23took 3rd place. These guys are both staples of the final table in this tournament–it's no surprise to see them there this week. Pocketfives gives props to their impressive consistency in this tournament.
DelaReine was the 13th finisher in the UltimateBet $120k guaranteed, ckruel (AKA ***CK***) finished 8th, and homer07 continued his dominance of UB's biggest weekly tournament, finishing 5th for yet another final table in this event.
