Tournament Review for January 4, 2016
Two PocketFives members who were previously ranked around the Top 1,000 worldwide had career outings in the PokerStarsSunday Million tournament this weekend. The United Kingdom’s retrorevengertook runner-up honors in the event for $135,100 and Germany’s Nickel placed 3rd for $117,231 after a four-way final table chop was negotiated.
PocketFiver phaplapof Turkey will likely re-enter the Top 100 Rankings this week thanks to his outright victory in the Sunday Supersonic for $45,620. Fellow member ratboy xfinished 2nd in that event for $34,044 while top 100-ranked Barry86 took home just over $30,000 upon finishing 3rd in the Stars Sunday 500 event.
The $530 buyin PartyPoker“High Roller” event was won by SuitedAcesBabyof Ireland for a payday of $27,780. Greg gregz41Chambers of the United Kingdom came in 2nd place for $19,515 in that event, which also featured top-ranked eisenhower1 at its final table.
Canadian cswidler(ranked #64 worldwide) earned $24,987 for his runner-up performance in the 888 Poker$150k Guaranteed WHALE event. Meanwhile, the Netherlands’ groengrasmade a case for re-entering the Top 1,000 Rankings with a win in the Full Tilt Sunday Major for $11,566 and MD IACONI of Moldova outlasted more than 32,000 opponents to place 2nd in the Stars Sunday Storm for $21,870 (two-way chop).
