February 2 to 16 was a pretty epic period of time for Denmark’s x_zola25, who took down seven tournaments in two weeks for his first PocketFives Triple Crown. It was the 31st Triple Crown for Denmark, so we definitely wanted to catch up with x_zola25 and talk about his groundbreaking effort.

Before we hop into the interview, we wanted to highlight the seven tournaments he impressively won in a span of 14 days:

February 2: Betfair Sunday Late Night
February 6: Betfair €8,000 Guaranteed Rebuy
February 10: Betfair High Roller Monday
February 14: PokerStars Big $22
February 14: Betfair €5,000 Guaranteed
February 14: PartyPoker $10,000 Guaranteed Turbo Rebuy
February 16: Betsafe Barracuda

It feels unreal,” x_zola25 said about his first Triple Crown. “I’m really happy and really proud. I have always seen a Triple Crown as something for top pros that I have dreamed of doing, but never really believed I could do.” On what he attributed his run to, he remarked, “I was on a hot streak, no doubt. But, I finally got a big result on PokerStars, which I have been trying to get for a very long time (1,000+ tournaments), so that gave me some extra confidence.”

His seven wins boosted him to 61 over the course of his career in tracked MTTs. Those five-dozen scores have helped boost his total online winnings to $376,000 and, accordingly, he is up to #18 in the Denmark poker community. Speaking of Denmark, he said of poker in his home country, “I don’t think people in general know much about poker here and I believe the general view of poker is a bit negative. People probably think a lot of poker players are gambling addicts.”

There have been a host of well-known Danish players over the years, including Gus Hansen (pictured), Peter Eastgate, and Theo Jorgensen. x_zola25 said, “Simon Ravnsbaek is one the guys who wins it all here, so I believe he is one of the guys who people look up to the most. In addition, AlexKP is insane (in a good way). They are both amazing players and play extremely well.”

He is a student at Aarhus University in Denmark and said his poker schedule is fairly mercurial: “This semester, I probably won’t play that many Sundays because I have lectures pretty early on Mondays. Until now, I have played a lot of Sundays. In the future, I probably will play on Mondays and try to take down the High Roller a few more times. On average, I would say I probably play 25 hours per week.”

One of his favorite tournaments is the $50 Rebuy on PartyPoker, which he has shipped four times in the last seven months, each for over $6,000.

Helping x_zola25 go through the motions in poker is his Skype group, with whom he discusses strategy and reviews hands. The clan includes fellow Danes like madsmk, jonhdinno, J. Dinnowich, and Rune. He cautioned, “Look out for the last three players. Their breakthroughs will come within the year!” Meanwhile, madsmk is quickly nearing $1 million in tracked scores in his PocketFives profile.

Also pushing him along is his girlfriend. He gleaned, “I’d like to thank my amazing girlfriend for letting me postpone the date we had on Sunday to let me go for the Triple Crown!” That’s quite an awesome gesture.
