On October 19th, PocketFives.com member Ami UhhMeeBarer (pictured) lodged his largest online poker score to date after finishing third in the $1,050 buy-in PokerStars Super Tuesday. The Canadian banked $41,000 for his final table appearance, adding to an arsenal of poker scores that already includes runner-up finishes in the PokerStars $55 Rebuy for $31,000 and $100 Rebuy for $15,000. Barer admitted, “It feels good. I’ve been playing in most of the bigger buy-in tournaments, putting in good volume over the past few months, and I have had some success.”

Barer sits at #210 worldwide in the PocketFives.com Rankings, has amassed over $500,000 in qualifying cashes, and owns the 17th spot in the Sortable Rankings for Canada. “I basically grind all MTTs, from the big $11 and $3 rebuys through the daily and weekly $1Ks,” Barer explained when asked about his online schedule.

He’s contributed around 1,800 poststo the PocketFives.com community, many of which can be found in Off Topic. There, he’s weighed in on a variety of topics, including the best political ad ever aired, whether readers like carrots, and the premiere of the current cycle of “Amazing Race” in which a contestant was hit in the face by a watermelon. No joke.

There are a bevy of off-kilter topics that can be found deep within the recesses of the PocketFives.com OT community and we asked Barer to weigh in on why he’s become actively involved: “I have always liked OT for a handful of reasons. There are always good laughs, meaningful stories, people with problems, and people succeeding. It’s fun to be part of a community, especially when you know that everyone is leading such different lives, but they still find common ground to discuss and laugh about the same topics.” He predominantly sticks to Off Topic on the boards on PocketFives.com.

He’s started about three-dozen threads on the site, ranging from professing his love for Altoids to telling his peers, “Just sitting here enjoying a nice big glass of chocolate milk. I love chocolate milk.” Who doesn’t?

How did he get started in the game, you ask? Barer recalled his journey into poker stardom: “I’ve been playing all sorts of card games since I was a kid with my family for pennies. Over the years, I became more interested in real poker and it sort of just turned into what it is now.”

The Super Tuesday that Barer final tabled featured a wealth of poker talent down the stretch. Longtime PocketFives.com member Joe hoodini10Udine (pictured) finished in second place and walked away with $54,000, while Corwin mig.com Mackey, a World Series of Poker bracelet winner, added $12,000 to his net worth after bowing out in seventh. Mackey is the 73rd player in the Rankings and won his bracelet in a $5,000 No Limit Hold’em tournament three years ago. Here’s a look at how the Super Tuesday final table shook out:
