Day 2 of the twelfth Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) played out on Thursday, with PocketFivers Mark Veteran In LoveAspili and Nicholas rounder63 Carrillo taking down tournaments. A total of four events occurred yesterday, with PocketFivers making waves in each of them. Aspili’s win came in a $256 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha Knockout tournament with a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool. Meanwhile, Carrillo made a splash in a $55 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Shootout MiniFTOPS event that generated a purse of over $36,000. In fact, PocketFivers took the top three spots in that contest. The entire online poker community is anxiously awaiting the May 17th running of the MiniFTOPS and FTOPS Main Events. Let’s take a look at the results from Thursday.

Mark Veteran In Love Aspili barreled through a field of 1,218 entrants en route to a $55,000 payday in the $256 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha Knockout tournament. It was his largest online poker cash to date, trumping a win in the Bodogflagship $100,000 Guaranteed. Three-handed, the PocketFiver from Virginia found himself seated alongside Alex AJKHoosier1Kamberis (pictured at left), who sits at 28th in the PocketFives.com Online Poker Rankings. A three-time Triple Crown winner, Kamberis was part of a five-way chop in the 2008 PokerStarsWorld Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) Main Event for nearly $800,000. Kamberis has multiple victories in both the $100 and $200 rebuys on Stars; third place in the FTOPS tournament boosted his bankroll by $25,000. Taking eighth in the FTOPS event was Malte Akaperion Strothmann. Hailing from Germany, Strothmann banked $5,000 for his efforts.

In the MiniFTOPS Version of Event #2, Greg kobeallstarAversa grabbed second place, earning $9,400. The $26 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha Knockout tournament generated 3,759 entrants for a total prize pool of over $75,000. Aversa made the final table and finished seventh in the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl on March 1st for $11,000 and earned the same amount for grabbing 13th in an FTOPS event last November. The Las Vegas native is a longtime member of PocketFives.com and outlasted all but Full Tilt player StefanSchmitzin the FTOPS tournament on Thursday.

Nicholas rounder63Carrillo, hwgdf, and Rick Duckworth1 Worthington finished first, second, and third, respectively, in the MiniFTOPS version of Event #3. The $55 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Shootout attracted 729 players; Carrillo walked away with $7,600. He won the $75,000 Guaranteed on Full Tilt last month for $23,000. Also in April, he recorded victories in the $15,000 Super Turbo Knockout and $20,000 Guaranteed, both on Full Tilt, for a total payday of $14,000. Finishing behind Carrillo in the FTOPS festivities was hwgdf, who recorded the largest online poker cash of his career, $5,100. Taking third was Worthington, who is just four days removed from winning the Turbo $40,000 Guaranteed on Full Tilt. The Ohio resident cashed for $3,600 in the FTOPS tournament.

The high-stakes version of FTOPS Event #3 featured a bevy of PocketFivers dueling at the final table. The $535 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Shootout generated a prize pool of over $360,000 and the top 81 spots paid out. California PocketFiver horryclutchfinished as its runner up, pocketing $51,000 for his efforts. He won the Nightly Hundred Grand in August for $21,000 and finished second in the Sunday Quarter Million on PokerStars last month for $17,000. Nicky nickyluvshu Kim took fifth, adding $20,000 to his bankroll in his largest cash on the virtual felts to date.

Rounding out the PocketFives.com contingent in Event #3 of the FTOPS was Steve MrSmokey1Billirakis (pictured at right). The PocketFiver took down the $5,000 buy-in World Championship of Mixed Hold’em during the 2007 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for his first bracelet and recently added a WSOP Circuit gold ring from an event in Hammond, Indiana. All told, Billirakis owns over $840,000 in WSOP and Circuit Event earnings. He grabbed sixth in Thursday's FTOPS event for $14,000, edging out fellow PocketFiver Brett bhanks11Hanks, who finished seventh for $10,000. One year ago, Hanks won the Sunday Million for $278,000. Finally, Texas native Kunal kudos1017 Patel landed in eighth in FTOPS Event #3, earning $6,900. One month ago, Patel was in the winner’s circle of the Full Tilt Poker $100 Cubed for $20,000.
