A former #1-ranked PocketFivers took down his first WCOOP title on Thursday

Over the last year, Belgium’s ‘girafganger7‘ has held down the #1 spot in the PocketFives Rankings on two occasions. There’s a good chance we could see him back there soon. On Thursday night he won his first World Championship of Online Poker title after beating out a star-studded field in Event #34 ($1,050 Super Tuesday Special Edition) for just under $197,000.

Finishing runner-up for $140,809.41 was Denmark’s ‘Powergolf‘. This is his second runner-up finish this WCOOP. He previously outlasted everybody but ‘josip1313’ in Event #7 (High) for $68,038.50. Sweden’s ‘BERRI SWEET’ finished third for $100,677.40.

Dinesh ‘NastyMinder’ Alt, who won the 2016 Turbo Championship of Online Poker Main Event, finished fourth for $71,983.29.

The only other event to wrap up on Thursday, Event #35 High ($530 No Limit Hold’em) was won by ‘p.A.v magic’. Beating out 1,383 other players earned the Romanian $87,214.83 after a three-way deal with eventual runner-up ‘Nelisschuif7’ and third place finisher ‘TheDegenFund‘.

That final table also included the #5-ranked Canadian in the world, Joel ‘jbrown8777’ Brown, and worldwide Top 10 mainstay Johannes ‘Greenstone25’ Korsar.

With 38 events now completed, ‘PSMozak‘ leads the WCOOP Leader Board with 440 points. The Bulgarian has yet to record a win, but does have 18 cashes at the High and Low level. He has four final tables, including a runner-up finish in Event #6 (high) and Event #11 (Low). Right behind him is ‘ImLuckNuts‘ with 425 points. The Russian won Event #17 (High) on top of 19 other cashes.
