Viktor Blom finally got himself a WCOOP title on Wednesday (PokerStars photo)

Viktor ‘Isildur1’ Blom has had all kinds of success in online poker. He’s won (and lost) in the nosebleed cash games online and he’s also found success in the tournament arena. He won the 2013 Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event for $1,096,200 as well as two other SCOOP titles. But he’d never won a World Championship of Online Poker title.

Until Wednesday that is.

Blom beat out 123 other entries in Event #58 High ($2,100 HORSE) to win $60,760 and his first WCOOP title. The final table included Dario ‘Secret_M0d3’ Sammartino, Laszlo ‘omaha4rollz’ Bujtas, Jussi ‘calvin7v’ Nevanlinna and eventual runner-up ‘GlassOfBeer‘. Blom’s previous best finish in a WCOOP came in last year’s HORSE event where he finished second to Daniel Negreanu.

The biggest winner on Thursday was Austria’s ‘Tankanza‘, the winner of Event #47 High ($2,1000 Super Tuesday Special Edition). After outlasting all 726 players over three days of play, ‘Tankanza’ earned $230,740.32 thanks to a deal made with ‘Pimmss’ during heads-up play. ‘Pimmss‘ pocketed $206,776.72 after falling just short of a WCOOP title.

Dutch grinder ‘etxnl01‘, who won a SCOOP title in 2016, added a WCOOP title to his collection on Wednesday after winning Event #55 High ($215 Eight Max No Limit Hold’em (Win the Button)) for $45,190.02. He’s currently the #2-ranked Dutch player in the world, but should vault to top spot when the rankings are updated Saturday morning.

Phil ‘PhilRoyal888’ Mighall finished second for $32,232.00.

Finland’s ‘miikka84‘ took home $26,798.93 for winning Event #56 High ($530 Six Max Courchevel Hi-Lo) after coming to a deal with Morocco’s ‘yohanteuber‘ who ended up with $22,723.03 as runner-up.
