The third week of the 2023 World Series of Poker is perhaps the biggest week to take place other than any including the Main Event. With a $250,000 and $100,000 Super high roller event on the ticket, as well as the opening day of the world-renowned Poker Players Championship, the 54^th Annual WSOP is about to get very, very important. Hold onto your hats/masks/box of salad, because there is a raft of 19 WSOP bracelet events starting over the next seven days.

Who Could Win Gold in Continuing Events?

There are currently four open bracelet events going into Day 14 of the 2023 WSOP. The $300-entry Gladiators of Poker event saw Daniel Negreanu leave the action on the penultimate day as ‘Kid Poker’ came 68^th out of the 23,088 combatants. Just 14 will return to the arena on Monday night, with Eric Trexler leading the field with 97.4 million chips!

The $10,000-entry Omaha Hi-Lo Championship has 21 players still in seats, and among them are some of the most highly decorated WSOP winners of all time. Erik Seidel will be hoping to win bracelet #10 in a bid to level his place on the all-time list with legends such as Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan and the late, great Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson. He’ll have his work cut out, though, with 11 of the 21 players already WSOP bracelet winners, with the final day field amassing an incredible 30 WSOP titles between them.

In the $800 Deepstack NLHE and Eight Game Mix events, only Day 1 has been completed, but in the latter, sparks are sure to fly, with the former WSOP Player of the Year Shaun Deeb top of the counts at present. He’s joined in the Day 2 seat draw by Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, a.k.a. and Allen ‘Chainsaw’ Kessler. Someone is going to be cut up about the result whichever way it goes.

High Roller and Razz Dominate First Half of Week 3

The $100,000 High Roller NLHE Event #29 starts on Monday and is the highest buy-in event to take place at the WSOP so far. Anyone who is anyone will be playing it, and with those aforementioned stars still playing Event #27, we may well see some dramatic re-entries or late registrations – or both – in the tournament.

With two events in Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw this week – including a Championship event with the $10,000 buy-in that applies to all Championship events – there’s space for a $10,000 Razz Championship too. So far this year, attendances have been on the up in almost every single event so if you like your mixed games, there’s never going to be a better week (or big prizepools) to encourage you to play!

Also in the first half of the week, the Secret Bounty event kicks off, and with a $10,000 entry, those bounties are going to get very exciting the longer the biggest of them remain in play. The $3,000-entry Nine Game Mix might well see one of the big names at this year’s World Series win a bracelet with the record shown by professionals in the smaller field events so far.

Who Will Win the Chip Reese Trophy?

The $50,000-entry Poker Players Championship begins this week as the one that poker professionals really want to win kicks off on Sunday, June 18 as the event, won in 2021 and 2022 by Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates is back on the table. With players such as Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey and the 2019 champion of this event, Phil Hui, all highly likely to take part, it’s going to be some battle to find out if ‘Jungle’ can make it his for a record third time in a row.

Elsewhere in the lower half of this week’s WSOP schedule, there is a Big O event, two online events in NLHE and PLO and the fabled Monster Stack event. Costing $1,500 to play, the Monster Stack has grown so big that it’s also a mini Main Event. Last year, Mike Jukich won the event for an incredible $966,577, life-changing money for a very reasonable entry fee.

With so many fun and varied events on the ticket this week, it’s guaranteed to be the most entertaining week of the World Series so far this summer.
