Many people do not attach any importance to how, where, and what conditions their poker session is going to take place in. This is a mistake! 2CardsCollege poker school coach “Iwantbearich” is sharing his experience of the workplace organization with us.

The Office Chair

First of all, pay attention to the chair. In case of a prolonged session, you will have to spend about 9 to 12 hours on it, so it’s important to sit on a comfortable surface. The chair must have а fixable height, armrests, and backrest. There is no standard as to what the height should be, but the screen should be positioned at eye level or slightly lower. The correct position of the elbow is 90 degrees, wrists should be relaxed, and your back should be pressed against the vertical back of the chair.

Following these simple rules will allow you to remain healthy and retain concentration during the game. Of course, you can grind lying on the bed, but then do not be surprised by the emotional bouts of tilt and unweighted decisions on your part.

The Hands

The next points are the keyboard and the mouse. I advise the A4Tech brand, as they have an excellent line of products that meets all the modern requirements. A4Tech is well known among the gamers all over the world. Among the special features of their mouse is its “absolute control of the cursor” technology, which greatly simplifies multi-table grinding.

The keyboards are designed specifically for the hands, however ironically that may sound. The new models even possess air ionizers and webcams with skin-flattering illumination, but this is for the connoisseurs. The keyboard should be in a position where you can easily use it. The keys should be reachable with a single motion with a minimal time loss.

The Eyes

I use two monitors for playing: Acer and Dell. It is important that your monitors have a good matrix and at least a 27-inch diagonal. Each of them fits 12 tables perfectly with no overlap. Some advice: before a session, wipe the screens of the dirty spots from your fingerprints so they will not distract you from the action. Cleaners or wipes must not contain any alcohol, let alone ammonia.

The location of the monitors should be such that the light from a window is not reflected off the screens. Try to put the monitor in a cool place away from the radiator, as this negatively affects the operation of your computer.

The Surroundings

Now let us touch on the “social component.” It would be perfect if there were only one person in the room during a game. If circumstances are turning out to be different, it will better to cancel the session or ask others present not to distract you and keep their talking to a minimum. Skype, ICQ, Facebook, and other social services and networks should be disabled. This also applies to mobile phones.

Remove all the unnecessary items from your table; do not let anything distract your attention. Make minimalism and neatness a rule. A notebook with a pen for recording hands and other important things is allowed.

The room temperature should be comfortable for you. No greasy food, open packs of chips, pizza, or alcohol. Smoking in the room is ugly, unpleasant, and clearly -EV.

It is important to spend the five-minute break as properly as possible. Do eye exercises, some regular exercises, and walk around your apartment a few times. Ventilate the room, as the fresh air helps clearing your head.

Poker is more than just 3-bet percentage and understanding ranges. It is a combination of the factors, both at the table and away from it. Of course, it is not a revelation, but a statement of fact. Everything is in your own hands.
