The final table of the World Poker Tour Seminole Rock ‘n’ Roll Poker Open began Wednesday with six players all chasing their first WPT title and the $545,070 first-place prize but over the course of five hours of play, Milen Stefanov mowed down the other five players in successive fashion to emerge victorious.

Just four hands in, Roman Korenev raised to 400,000 from UTG and Stefanov, who started the final table as chip leader, called from the button. Francis Anderson moved all in from the big blind for 2,275,000 forcing a fold from Korenev before Stefanov called. Stefanov turned over 7c7h and Anderson showed KdQd. The flop came Ts6s2h to Stefanov in front. The Qh turn gave Anderson top pair but his hopes of staying alive were dashed on the 7s river and he was eliminated in sixth.

It took nearly 2.5 hours before another player was eliminated. Down to just 15 big blinds, Cesar Fuentes moved all in for 4,925,000 when action folded to him in the small blind. Stefanov called from the big blind and then turned over AcKc while Fuentes showed QdTc. The board ran out As8c7hJh4h to eliminate Fuentes in fifth place.

Thirty minutes later, Stefanov found another victim. With blinds of 200,000/400,000, Stefanov raised to 850,000 from the button and Korenev moved all in for 5,200,000 from the big blind and Stefanov called. Korenev showed QsTs but got bad news when Stefanov showed AdAs. The Kh5c5h flop offered Korenev little relief and the Td turn left him just two outs. The 9c river was no help and Korenev was out in fourth.

Just five hands after that, Stefanov sent the tournament to heads-up play with yet another elimination. David Novosel raised to 850,000 from the button and Stefanov defended his big blind. The flop came JsTh2c and Stefanov check-called Novosel’s bet of 700,000. The turn was the Ts and Stefanov bet 1,250,000 and Novosel called. The 6d completed the board and Stefanov bet 7,000,000. Novosel used two time banks before calling and tabling Ks6s. Stefanov turned over JcTc for a full house to send Novosel to the rail in third place.

That pot gave Stefanov a 5-1 chip lead over Fabian Gumz and it took him just two hours and 51 hands to wrap up his first WPT title. Stefanov moved all in from the button and Gumz called all in for 7,500,000 and turned over Qd8c which left him drawing live against Stefanov’s Ad2h. The board ran out AcJd5hQcTd to eliminate Gumz in second place.

The $3,500 buy-in event drew 988 entries to create a $3,161,600 prize pool. Jonathan Jaffe, Jerry Wong, Donald Maloney, James Mackey, Jessica Dawley, Julien Martini, Farid Jattin, Matt Glantz, and Jared Jaffee were some of the notables who also managed an in-the-money finish. Pennsylvania poker pro Aaron Mermelstein finished 16th for $27,825.

The next event on the WPT schedule is the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio in Las Vegas beginning on December 16.
