Sixteen players are left in Event #28 of the 2013 World Series of Poker, a $1,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament. Among those still alive is Dan Wretchy Martin (pictured), who Tweeted after play had concluded on Sunday, “Ended the day w 1,050,000 chips. 16 left, start tomorrow at 1pm. Over 500k for first. I’m either CL or 2nd.” As Martin said, a top prize of a half-million dollars is on the line and everyone remaining is guaranteed to bank at least $19,000. The tournament resumes on Monday at 1:00pm Pacific Time.

Martin knocked out Barry Allen late in the day on Sunday to stack another 11,000 in chips after flopping a pair of fours. He ended the day at a little over one million, but is still well behind Tokyo’s Masayuki Nagata, who has 1.7 million for the lead. Martin also sent Robert Lum and Makoto Yoshimichi to the rail on the same hand with 10-10 against 2-2 and 7-7. Wretchy flopped a set for the win to knock out the two other pocket pairs.

Martin also sent Jason Lee to the halls of the Rio with A-9 against K-Q of diamonds. Lee turned a king to take the lead, but Martin hit an ace on the river in dramatic fashion to cast his opponent away. At one point, he announced on Twitter that he was the enemy of many Europeans at the Rio, but not for a reason you might think: “Just had the floor change the TV to U.S. Open instead of soccer… Getting a lot of dirty stares from Euros #showers.”

Also still alive in Event #28 is Joe Joey Capp Cappuccio (pictured), who knocked out a player with 8-6 against A-7 of clubs. His opponent made top pair (aces) on the flop, but Cappuccio turned a straight to grab the lead and then ducked a draw to a boat on the river. He is in eighth place with 571,000 in chips, as you can see from the following leaderboard. When play stopped, the blinds were at 6,000-12,000 with an ante of 2,000:
