WSOP: Hellmuth Blows Up, Bows Out on Day 2C; Artan Dedusha Leads
It just wouldn’t be the World Series of Poker Main Event without a Phil Hellmuth blow-up. That’s exactly what happened on Day 2C on Wednesday as the Poker Brat went from the ESPN feature table to the rail in a matter of just a couple of hours.
Artan Dedusha had the opposite kind of day, going from 109,700 at the start of the day to 680,000 and the Day 2C chip lead by the end. Dedusha was the only Day 2C player to finish with more than 600,000. His closest competitors were Michael Krasienko with 561,000 and Marcin Chmielewski with 561,000.
A total of 1,549 of the 3,300 players who started the day managed to move on to Day 3. Some of the notable names who still have a shot at the $8.15 million first place prize include the top 10 stacks of Ryan Hughes (510,100), Nick Petrangelo (480,300), and Natasha Mercier (476,800).
Jason Mercier finished with 101,800. Other familiar faces still alive after Day 2C include Chino Rheem, Adam Levy, Tom Cannuli, Mustapha Kanit, Alex Kamberis and Troy Quenneville.
As for Hellmuth, he started the day with 87,400 and built it into a six-figure stack before. He then found himself clashing with multiple players at his table throughout the night before finally being eliminated by Francois Pelletant. He handled his break-up with the Main Event by giving in to his sweet tooth.

Hellmuth wasn’t the only poker superstar to bust on Wednesday though. Daniel Negreanu began the day with a short stack and simply couldn’t make his way through the minefield of players looking to take him out, eventually busting in the last level of the night.
Other Day 2C casualties include Matt Berkey, Parker Talbot, Johnathan Karamalikis, Michael Mizrachi, Griffin Benger, Jamie Kerstetter, Esther Taylor, Antonio Esfandiari, Annette Obrestad, Mike Sexton, Ryan Riess, Chris Ferguson, Paul Volpe, Maria Ho and William Kassouf.
Kassouf’s elimination was greeted by a round of applause from all players in the Miranda room at the time.
The Day 2C survivors will now be combined with the 1,023 players who made it through Day 2A/B beginning at 11 am PT Thursday.
