WSOP: The Main Event Day 1B Number Crunch
History tells us that each starting flight of the 2017 World Series of Poker Main Event is going to be bigger than the previous one and Day 1B was no exception. Sunday’s field was almost three times as big as Saturday’s with 2,164 players entering.
DAY 1B FIELD SIZES
The 2,164 players that entered the Main Event on Saturday made it the largest Day 1B since 2011 when the WSOP ran with four starting flights instead of three. Over the previous four years, Day 1B has made up an average of 28.77% of the total field .

DAY 1B SURVIVORS
Just like 2016, 3/4 of the Day 1B field managed to survive the five two-hour levels of play on Sunday. The shift to a 50,000 starting stack has allowed more players to move on. Just 72.45% of Day 1A players moved on while Day 1B’s 1,643 survivors represented 75.92% of the total field.

DAY 1B BUSTOUT RATE
With more players in the field, more bustouts were a guarantee. So this stat isn’t quite that relevant until Day 3 when all players are playing at the same time. A player was eliminated once every 1:09 on Sunday.
