888poker's XL Inferno series came to an end on Sunday with Russia's 'D3n1sk4PP' winning the $500K Main Event for over $70K.

The final day of 888poker’s XL Inferno spring online poker series did not disappoint. A trio of Main Event tournaments, including the massive $500,000 guaranteed Main Event, promised some of the largest payouts of the entire 34-event schedule.

The series went out on a high note, with all three tournaments besting their posted guarantees. This meant that all but one tournament over the course of the 11 days exceeded their guarantees, offering players additional value throughout the entire series.

Event #32 – $500,000 Main Event

Buy-in: $250
Entries: 1,634 (502 rebuys)
Prize pool: $501,960

On Sunday, the Main Event promised players a shot a massive return on their $250 buy-in, as seven of the final nine players added five-figures to their bankroll. The guarantee was a lofty one for 888poker. It’s not that the site hadn’t offered guarantees this big in the past, but the recent trend for 888 has for the Main Event of their XL series to have a reduced buy-in. Players responded, helping the tournament exceed the $500K number, if only by just under $2K.

When the Main Event reached the final three players a deal was put in place that guaranteed all three players healthy five-figure sums.

Russia’s ‘D3n1sk4PP’ ended up winning the lengthy heads up match, taking home $70,252.18 and the title of XL Inferno Main Event champion. Although he held the chip lead for much of the heads up match, Brazil’s ‘LuisRRRRR’ ended up falling in second place. He earned $65,502.26 as his part of the deal, over $5K more than the posted second place prize.

The third member of the three-way deal was Brazil’s Lucas ‘lucasfalves9’ Ferreira, the  #730 ranked players in the world. Ferreira, fell in third place almost immediately after the deal was agreed to and he locked up $55,543.49, over $9K more than the original third place prize.

Whereas the Main Event just barely passed up its guarantee, players piled into the $33 Mini Main Event to help it crush the $50,000 guarantee by more than $23,000. The tournament seemed to be the perfect combination of buy-in, prize pool and structure to make it one of the most popular tournaments of the entire 11-day schedule. It didn’t hurt that it took place on a Sunday as well.

Brazil’s ‘EduAraujo’ took down the Mini Main, adding an XL Inferno title to their list of poker accomplishments and, more importantly, the five-figure score of $12,333.85 for first place.

It took firing three bullets, but persistence was rewarded for the UK’s ‘Nacenacja’ as they finished in second place taking home $8,777 for their efforts.

Ukraine’s ‘Blackfile888’ continues to ride a heater on 888poker. Not only did the Ukranian win a seat to the World Series of Poker Main Event in late April. He now adds to that a third-place finish in the Mini Main for over $6,700.
