Sweden's ‘junijuniorz’ wrapped up 888poker's 2020 XL Inferno with a win in the Main Event for over $85K.

The conclusion of 888poker’s XL Inferno championship online series played out on Sunday as players flocked to take a shot in one of the biggest events 888poker has held hold all year, the $500,000 Gtd XL Inferno Main Event.

It took over 12 hours, but in the end it was Sweden’s ‘junijuniorz’ who outlasted the 1,623 player field (523 rebuys) to turn their $250 buy-in into an $85,177.95 payday. Lithuania’s ‘KofeBryant’ fell just one spot short of the title but walked away with $60,618.06 as the runner-up. And ‘9salute46’ finished in third place which was good for a healthy $46,396.52 score.

The final table actually offered five-figure scores to the top seven spots including the UK’s ‘JBHInfinity’ who finished in fourth for $32,780.15 and Argentina’s ‘lapechuga4’ who rounded out the top five and walked away with a $23,954.72 payday.

There were some other notable names that managed to climb into the cash including former #1-ranked Nicolas ‘PKaiser’ Fierro (64th, $1,109.48), former #2-ranked PocketFiver ‘Inho’ (71st, $1,109.48), the current #6-ranked pro from Sweden Jerry ‘Perrymejsen’ Odeen (79th, $1,059.05), Feargus ‘EZ.PZ’ Murphy (81st, $1,059.05), 2020 XL Inferno High Roller winner ‘HSV_Gandi’ (92nd, $958.18), and online poker superstar ‘Isildur1337x’ (aka ‘CDarwin2’) who finished inside the top 100 for $1,008.62.

There were two other tournaments on the XL Inferno Sunday schedule including the $50,000 Gtd Mini Main Event. Romania’s ‘LHadar’ battled through the 1,889 (632 rebuys) field and in a three-way deal, secured themselves $10,676.07 and the XL title. The UK’s ‘meg1066’ was the official runner-up and turned their $33 buy-in into a $9,188.56 payday. The final member of the deal was ‘SergeySil83’ who locked up $7,552.23 for third place, over $1,000 more than the posted third-place finish was supposed to earn.

The final event on the schedule was one for the micro-stakes grinders. The $20,000 Gtd Micro Main Event saw 3,502 players (1,725 rebuys) post their $5.50 buy-in in an effort to turn it into a four-figure score. Ukraine’s ‘Testosteron,’ muscled their way to the top, winning $3,661.58 and the last title of the series. ‘brook1101’ from the United Kingdom settled for second place and added $2,744.17 to their bankroll while Brazil’s ‘SabePai’ claimed the bronze and $2,012.29.
