The profile belonging to Zackattak13here at PocketFives.com just received a new badge. The New Yorker, who simply goes by “Zack,” grabbed a coveted Triple Crown after taking down three $10,000 prize pool tournaments across three sites tracked by PocketFives.com in a seven-day period. Zack didn’t need a week, however. Instead, he accomplished the feat in a single day for the rare 24-hour Triple Crown win. We caught up with him to break down this monumental achievement.

January 3rd was the big day for Zack, who started the fun by winning the $25,000 Super Stack Early Antes on Full Tilt Pokerfor $8,700. Then, it was on to two other USA-friendly sites. Zack won the PokerStars $22 Rebuyfor $4,800 in a tournament that boasted a prize pool of nearly $25,000. Finally, it was on to the CEREUS Network and the UB.com Sniper $25,000 Guarantee, a high-stakes bounty tournament. The third and final leg was worth $7,200 and resulted in a Triple Crown badge. All told, his three victories were good for over $20,000.

The trio of events consisted of three different types of poker tournaments. We asked Zack which one suited his style of play the best. “I have had a lot of success in rebuys because they are deeper,” Zack responded. “I consider the best part of my game to be post-flop. The deeper the play, the more ability I have to outplay post-flop instead of luckboxing a coin flip or something like that.”

January 3rd marked only his second day playing on UB.com. As such, he’s already experienced a high degree of success on the site, which features sponsored pros like Eric basebaldyBaldwin (pictured) and Adam Roothlus Levy. Zack explained, “I love UB.com so far. Their problems are the field sizes and guarantees for mid-stakes tournaments, but the structures of their MTTs are awesome.”

In November of last year, Zack took second in a $109 buy-in tournament on PokerStars for $56,000. In May, he won the Sunday Second Chance for $51,000 and, last September, final tabled a PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) event for $32,000. On his 2010 performance, Zack critiqued, “2010 in general was conflicted. I obviously had some scores and results. However, I had many runs in large tournaments where I lost key hands or flips that would have probably propelled me to a final table or better.”

He owns the 42nd position in the PocketFives.com Poker Player Rankings and now has his eyes set on standing out from the crowd in 2011: “I want to be one of the few who stands out from the others. There are a lot of MTT players who come and go, but there are only a few who are actually a step ahead of the rest, not for the recognition, but for the personal accomplishment in time and effort put in. I can go about it by putting my ego away when necessary in order to keep an open mind about getting better.”

When asked whose game he admires, Zack told us that he looks fondly upon Brooklyn’s Stevieand a friend named Mike JJ, who used to play online cash games. On the former, Zack admitted, “If it weren’t for him, I wouldn’t be playing poker or be anywhere near as successful or as creative as I am.” On Mike, Zack noted, “He’s the best player in regards to image, defending blinds and straddles, and having people do whatever he wants.” Stevie final tabled the Sunday Warm-Up in April for over $100,000, his largest cash tracked by PocketFives.com.
