  2. It's scary to think just how close Sheldon Adelson came to getting RAWA snuck into that must-pass bill. It seems like if the PPA hadnt been working to expose that, it could've easily been slipped in under the radar, a la UIGEA.

Completely agree. It seemed like it was quite close to being tacked onto an unrelated, must-pass bill like what happened with the UIGEA back in 2006.

  15. great vid. Although, I do hope that we are not too mislead to proving that Sheldon is a hypocritical and forget about the real reason that online poker should be legal.

I did talk to a live dealer in Pittsbrugh this week and he said he does not want igmaing regulation. I wondered why? I thought everyone wanted it. But he is worried that there will not be enough work for him with an already small player market. I see where he is coming from. How can we argue for the dealers?

Just look at the empirical data of the popularity of online poker rising with the Moneymaker Boom in 2003 begetting an explosion in live poker. Then, after Black Friday, live and online poker in the US have fallen off a cliff. They're not competing; they're complimentary.

I would like to think that is right, but during the Money Maker boom, Pittsburgh did not have legal casinos and as I said, the gambling market here is already small.

I really want regulated poker but I would prefer if all other types of table games and slots remain illegal. I think the other games will create more social issues and will have an affect on casino traffic. That is my personal opinion and I do not have the data to back it up but I hope the PPA has the data to back up their argument.

Today a House subcommittee held a hearing on the Restoration of America's Wire Act, which would ban online gambling throughout the country, even in states that choose to allow it. The witnesses included Andrew Moylan, executive director of the R Street Institute, who explained why that policy would violate the federalist principles reflected in the 10th Amendment.

You mean John Pappas? There's not a lot going on legislation-wise now on the Federal level, which will give some time for any state that wants to regulate online gaming the chance to do so.
