most times if you're up against a straight draw/flush or already made hand. you still have the chance to absolutely crush them if the board pairs.

the worst of the worse though is say.

KK7 you got pocket 7's, turn is a K you slow played villains 4bet and the turn fucked you in your anal cavity, villain turns over 9's....

or villain has AK flop is K98 turn is an 8, river is a K.

sets are beginning to look very unpleasant to me.

Yeah, that looks to me like it's a cooler. Cause even if you suspected that he had As, 8s (15 outs), you're still a 59.7% favorite.

yes.

depending on buyin/specific reads, they are just more likely to have 2pair, flush draws, combo draws, etc, all of which we should be getting in against.

edit: raise pre.

Never folded a set online unless it was a really really bad board like 7s8s9s or I got three pre and decided to just smooth call the guys obvious AA with my small pair and it rolls out AK7. Now live home games where I am 500 bb deep I will try to slow down and might consider folding bottom set to a fold.

^^^^^ Has to be a level... (Moscow)

There are not alot of cash enthusiasts on P5's so you may not get the best advice....

As a serious cash player my advice is that you shouldn't be folding them too often and there are some obvious spots to fold that everyone knows other then that I don't think you should ever say never.

If you play enough cash with the same people and have some very specific reads on guys about how they play then there are spots where u can fold bottom set when you know a nitty guy would slow way down after u played back at him if he had an overpair because u have watched him play it that way dozens and dozens of times.

Some people play a very system driven game where in which they 99% always follow the same actions in the same situations. This is especially common amongst guys who play a sick amount of tables.

Besides I am a definitely a believer that to be great you have to think outside the box and not neccesarily subscribe to all of the "popular beliefs"

For example when playing a TAG reg who plays all day every day I feel it often neccesary to play hands in weird ways to get paid off. This is because they will peice the hands together very easily if you always play a standard line and they will fold leaving your monster hand left short of optimal value.

Thats MHO for what it is worth .....

srry for ranting btw....Tony Blazed ....

PLO folding middle/bottom set is standard. NLHE? Take the advice of Dan Harrington. In one of the funnier parts of his tournament hold 'em books, he says he sometimes gets approached by someone who claims they knew they were set under set and made a hero fold. He says (under his breath, cuz he's a nice guy) "Idiot".

EDIT: I just read Tony's post. LOL @ me giving cash advice by quoting a tournament poker book. Seriously though, everything is read-dependent, but with no other information, calling off with a set is 95% always the right thing to do.
