Could be the end of PS then. I've seen so many sites successful in the niche and trying add sports and casino and promptly fail, due to international laws or other things.

Another thought is, do you really think PS would be bringing in Casino and Sports better to enlarge the pool of customers for your benefit? Or could it be that they feel they already have a large base of potential customers and that is the death knoll for keeping money in the poker pool/circulation.

They claim it'll have no effect on the poker economy: "The experience on our poker platforms to-date shows increases in net player deposits following the addition of casino games and a negligible impact on poker spend."

I think it's a really bad sign. And when you say "bring on the fishes", be careful what you ask for.

Oh, and this is not a rigtard statement, it's just a fact, they will use a casino RNG on Poker Stars. Because that's how a casino works.

(not saying they will use it for poker, just that, it will be around!)

I was careful in what I asked for, as I said I have compared sites that have online gaming and sports books versus those that do not.

The sites that have those options are wayyyyyyy softer for poker (in the games that I play).

I say this because I remember that is where I started out at, the casual gambler taking a stab at tournament poker on merge while not knowing a damn thing.

But I paid my stupid tax (early losses playing a game that i knew nothing about) and put some effort into learning the game to turn things around.

If yall wanna have a sky is falling mentality for any change ever made in poker go for it.

Hide under the bed and wear a tin foil hat until your poker site emails you back and tells ya the doom switch has been lifted.

One thing you may not consider is the closing of sites to various countries.

Do you think WillHill will take this attack on their licensed sportsbook with out a fight?

Or and major Russian sportsbook?

Sites get blocked, I've seen it happen with too many skill game sites (backgammon in particular) and it cost me my living of 15 years.

I get what you are saying joey, but I don't have a "sky is falling" mentality. I can only play fake chips on Stars anyway. (Which I actually enjoy) However, we are not talking about "changes to poker"! We are talking about what once was (and I guess still is) the best and purest poker site in the world. Poker Stars is not "changing", they are following! Sure, it may be a good thing for them, and you! Time will tell.

I'm sure they just didn't have this idea one night and decided to implement it the following day.

I'm sure a little thinking went into it and the possibilities of this and that were weighed.

My bad i meant changes to a poker site not poker.

People have a tendency to be negative to any change not saying you, just people in general.

Most of us are creatures of habit and anything that changes our comfort zone is usually not well received.

Whether the change is because of an idea they had on there own or it is following what others do does not really matter to me.

I'm just glad they can increase there profitability (without screwing me with rake increases obv) and at the same time bring new potential customers to the market.

Now it seems that Vicky Coren has left PokerStars to join up with WH.

What I see on the horizon is bleak as each country with sites generating so much revenue will continue to close access to the 'free' internet.

If Vicky didn't want to support Casino games and such, why would she go to William Hill?

My guess is she knows something we don't. Like how soon.

I personally don't like this move and don't think it's good for the poker ecosystem.

joey -- I think your analogy is wrong for one main reason. The sites you're talking about are primarily sports betting sites that added poker. As a result, people with a sportsbook decided to dabble in poker and do terribly. With pokerstars, I think the effect will be poker players playing poker and taking money out of the poker ecosystem. In other words, sports bettors on sports betting sites that play poker increase the money in the ecosystem while sports bettors on pokerstars are likely recreational players using their recrational budgets to play casino/sports and removing money from the ecosystem.

The only way I see this as a win for poker players is if it draws a lot of new people to Stars who join with the intent to play casino/sports betting games primarily and end up having some spillover into poker. Overall though, I'm guessing more poker "fish" will spend a portion of their poker and the result will be a net negative for poker players.

We'll see what happens though

You make a valid point but the latter part that you mention is what I see happening.

Over time if there new sportsbook is good enough people will join to place bets on there sporting event and I believe as you mentioned it will spill over into poker.

Aye thinking it will help poker just doesnt seem right at all if anything its going to take money away from poker , And with that bullshit RNG they run the casino is only going to be more attractive to the people who cant be assed playing video poker anymore will just play the casino games instead of using the rest of their deposit on more poker .

If that's your argument as I said before in this thread go to shark scope and compare your roi on sites that have a sports book versus those who don't. So your thinking that it will take money away from poker goes along the lines of....... well people who signed up at a poker only site to play poker will now suddenly abandon the reason that they joined up at that site to place a bet or play casino games instead? If that's the thinking I don't see it. In my view if the sports book is nice and I'm thinking it will be based on the job Stars has done with having nice software for poker and what not it will draw in more people and those people will be drawn over time to play the occasional poker game. Also Please leave the rigged / doomswitch rng talk for the bad beat forum.

Its probably going to just get players to donk off money on sports that would normally be playing poker. It seems very money grab ish to me.

If they really dumped a ton of money into ads that would attract sports bettors it might not have as big of an impact but for what ever reason I think this was more along the lines off we invested a ton of money into this company so lets lock up a good return quickly.

Ya you have a point.

If you ignore the facts then you have a point.

http://www.pokerscout.com/

Shockingly having a sports book or casino games didn't stop 888 from moving up to number 2.

How did this happen if casino games are taking away from the poker pool?

How did Ipoker move up to number 3 if online games and a sports book is taking away from poker money?

Doesn't bovada have a sports book?

How were they able to grow there poker operations with these evil online games and sports book options available?

Change sure is scary!!!!!!!!!!!!
