I Lost My Job and I’m Not Even That Mad About It

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Tomorrow is when the real journey starts. The first 4 months of turning "PRO" have been unbelievable and it's about to get better.

I am leaving for Jacksonville tomorrow for the BestBet Poker series. I will be there for 8 days and playing the $1,100 200K GTD to round up the trip.

After Jacksonville, I will be flying directly to New Orleans. This was sort of a last minute trip. New Orleans has been on my bucket list for years and this seemed like the perfect time to go. My flight was super cheap from Jax > NO and the WSOPC is going on while I am there. I will playing event #1 & #3. Both are $365 ring events. This will leave me with 3 days of no poker and a lot of time to explore this sweet town!

May 14th I am going from New Orleans to Tampa Bay. This will be my home until I leave for Las Vegas on May 30th. There are a few good casinos around where I will be staying and a few decent one off live tournaments. This will also give me time to just relax before what will probably be a very long busy summer.

Vegas (May30th - July 13th)

Thank you all for the support! It really means the world to me when you guys send encouraging messages on here, Twitter, YouTube. Since I will be traveling along, if anyone will be at these places please let me know. I will be looking to have some fun away from the poker table to try to stay sane. :)

See you guys soon!

Thank you all for the support!

This month of travel was great! It started with a final table in the Jacksonville, FL series 50K where I got 4th place. I bricked the main event there and bricked all the events at New Orleans. However, I crushed the cash games at both places and had a profitable trip coming into Tampa.

I've now been in Tampa Bay for 2 weeks and it has been amazing. I'm pretty sure this is where I'm calling home for a long while. The games are just freeking good. I've been playing mostly cash games but have also mixed in some tournament. Just hours ago I outright won the Memorial Day Weekend tournament at Derby Lane Casino for $12,100 and a $5,000 Vegas Package!!! Also, they gave away a $2,900 watch for the high hand in level 18 of the tournament and I won that too. WTF? Crazy month. Ups and downs. I am leaving for Vegas in 4 hours and couldn't be more excited.

For those that will be out in Vegas, come say whats up to me. I will be by myself grinding most days and am looking to meet some of the community.

Till Next Time, CYA!

Hi !...I can be the 'ants at the picnic'

I enjoyed reading your thread..Love hearing about winning, but man, Ive been reading and following guys like you, and circuit guys, and the world travelers for years as a hobby...So many guys play great for a long long time with no mentionable cashes...

I hope this says a happy thread and it doesnt end with you v-loggin your own bridge jump!! LOL

Seems your mission should be to keep doing what your doing with heavy study being put into where your value is..

I though the tedstretch post was smart..Guy like you playing the bigguns, Ftops/Scoop kinda stuff could be fun...Maybe a global route would suit you...???...I mean, if your a trained skilled player, riding a decent curve with the poker gods, maximize that sht man, go where money is!!!...

hey BUD,

I too have spent the last 15+ years in the tech industry (playing "semi pro" cash with +EV results) and finally about 1 year ago quit to play full time (and run a few of my own bushiness and did a lot of investment in Bitcoin in the last 5 years which has NO ONE laughing at my investments now). Haters gonna hate. Do you and I hope to see you keep growing and achieve success in ALL aspects of your life. Title says it all and I LOVE IT!! =)

Good vibes at ya,

RE

P.S.- adding you to my rail to follow your journey,

I just finished up a short 5 day stint in Coconut Creek, Florida for the WSOPC. I am flying back to Tampa in 8 hours and will be there until Friday. I am flying back to Pittsburgh on Friday the 23rd to see friends/family and to do my 2017 taxes before I leave for Europe.

Needless to say, 2017 went better than planned. So many people fail at this poker endeavour so I already feel like I'm winning. I got to travel endlessly in 2017 and am doing the same in 2018.

Here's my upcoming Europe Trip plans

Dublin, Ireland

I leave March 4th from Pittsburgh and fly to Dublin, Ireland. I will be playing the Irish Poker Open. It's a $1,150 buyin with 1 million GTD.

After that I am heading to Amsterdam for 5-6 days to play some cash and indulge myself in the city.

From Amsterdam, I will be heading to Brussels to again play some cash and take over the city :).

Lyon, France is my next stop after that. I will be playing in the Unibet 550 event. 50K starting stack and 50 minute levels. Seems like a really cool stop.

Following Lyon, I will be heading to Barcelona, Spain for the Party Poker Millions. This should be a really fun spot. I will only be playing the first event because all of the other buyins are a little too big. But it is a $1000 1Million GTD so it should be solid. I assume the cash games will be great as well.

I am not really sure where I want to go after all this. This will take about 6 weeks, which means I have another 4-6 weeks to get out to Vegas to get ready for WSOP.

Some spots that I am intrigued with:

Croatia (specifically Zagreb, Zadar, Split, and Dubrovnik) I might go to these places for a while and just play online if I get too exhausted from traveling around.

Germany: There are plenty of places to play poker in Germany, although I don't know how good the games will be.

Poland: I have read that it is fairly cheap to stay in a lot of the cities in Poland and they are beautiful.

There are so many places I want to go. It's really going to come down to time and money. I am not rich. I will be staying in Hostels most of the in Europe, some are as cheap as $9 a night. I haven't made it in the poker world yet but I do want to take advantage of this opportunity while I can. This poker dream could be over tomorrow so why not give it my all and see the world in the process?

Anyways, I know this was just a bunch of rambling, but I just wanted to let everyone know I am alive, I survived my first 15 months of playing poker full time, and I am somewhat living the life. :)

Also, I think I am going to start a live podcast. It will just be me rambling once a week from the road, but I do think a lot of you will find it interesting. I'll keep you updated.

Chris
