Since the start of the pandemic prices for everything have skyrocketed. Smart financial people already have noted the inflation taking hold.  Financial commitments being what they are, many people refuse to accept low paying jobs that don't pay the bills. Add in the generous unemployment benefits and job seekers don't need to settle, especially when the economy looks to be more robust in the months to come.

If employers want to attract better candidates, they have to pony up in this  jobs market. It's as simple as that.

You forgot Wood.  Shit is going to the moon faster than Crypto.  Price of framing a house is about 40% higher than last year.

Not that any of you are buying a house, but if you were.

Home builders buy two-by-fours in bulk. A thousand board feet cost $550 last year. Now, the same amount costs more than $1,400, said Lee.

"So that's almost tripling the cost of that two-by-four," he said.

"A typical, say, 2,500 sq. ft. home, you're over $30,000 in additional costs for lumber."

My understanding is that between COVID and an expected fall in new homes demand, the lumber producers cut way back. Then the demand didn't fall and now we have a severe shortage.

We're buying a house.  Looked a custom build but had to nope the fuck out.  They had 4 lots last month, still have 4 but the price went up 10k.

It's a shame.   Well probably have to get one of those houses made from old shipping containers.

Half of my FB feed is dipshit liberals who championed progressive causes and Orange Man Bad for the last four years that are now genuinely confused/angry why gas/food/energy/ commodity prices are skyrocketing.

Moral of the story... if you consistently vote for progressives and get angry about your cost of living prices, you have to be one of the dumbest mother fuckers in the USA

This crisis was started by Trump with tariffs and  made much worse by the lumber companies. I was going to add a deck to my patio, wood is out of the question and the plastic composites for this purpose have gone up in sympathy.

Fuck 'em. Hope they all go belly up.

Some context for your civil debate.

“The $300 weekly unemployment supplement provided as part of the March-passed American Rescue Plan pays some 42 percent of workers more than what they made at their old jobs, according to a University of Chicago analysis.”

i personally know at least 5 people who haven't looked for jobs in the last year due to unemployment being what it is. It's definitely a real thing that people are doing and not some obscure anecdote.

What i don't understand is i didn't hear a peep from Hack about this all last year. Wonder why?

And it will not be thing come may or september or whenever it is it ends.

again. Good for them getting their 50k a year for 9 months. Big deal. Most jobs are worth more than the 10 bucks an hour they pay.

this jobs report means very little in the grand scheme.

and ya know. Hacker: biden bad.

I did?

ive seen nothing other than 1 jobs report. Other than a hacker spew and camzee knowing some people.

i know youd prefer everyone go back to their 9$ an hour jobs. Too bad. They get to continue to make that awesome 700$ a week for a few more months. Nobody should care. At all.

Now we move on to a 51 vote infrastructure bill. Then as many more 51 vote legislation he can muster thanks to turtle.

This is literally just the next thing

nobody is screaming about the border anymore because its being fixed.

next week they will move on to another thing they can yell about and continue to see nobody cares

It actually impacts small business a ton and even corporations.  So yes people should care. I’m assuming it doesn’t affect you one bit and you’re numb to everything around you.

your own math is screwed. $700 per week is not $50k and the average Joe that was making near minimum wage (you mentioned $9/hour) is not getting $700 unless there’s a glitch. Pretty sure the max in CA is $450 per week + $300 bonus. That’s what someone whom lost a $50k year job is getting

mom and pop restaurants, fast food, department stores, wal mart these are all being affected huge by this. It means owners and management are putting in longer hours and doing entry level labor because people are not applying or showing up for interviews.  I experience it first hand, not afraid to admit it and I bring people in at $17/hour.

your posts on this topic are disturbing, lighten up and come back to reality.

It really doesnt though. Ya think tons of businesses are gonna shut down cause 700 a week until September?

waaa owners and management. Ffs. Its been happening like that for a year. Managers working line level shifts everywhere. They will

live another few months. I promise.

theres a legit argument to be made there against a 15$ minimum wage. That i agree. Would hurt small franchised businesses and snall businesses in general.

the unemployment benefit thing while it may be a thing more then i think it is right now, is just a thing for the right to yell about today. This too will pass.

If so i dont think im the one who needs to lighten up. Just sayin.

Yes because you’re so far away from reality and you go out of your way to play some troll part. I’d bet you put your 40 hours per week in, not a minute more, not a minute less and are content with your $50-60k.

let me ask you this, at this point why do you think the unemployed should be getting a $300 per week bonus?  You are in so much support of it and think no one should care so I’m curious.

People don't have to work 40 hours a week to still live in poverty???  This is outrageous!   Who am I supposed to look down on?

Straight white males. They are scum of the earth. Slave owning, Jesus loving, cult freaks.
