  1. This past sunday was a pretty annoying day I played all of the majors across stars, full tilt, UB, and bodog as usual, but only got in the money on one tournament which was the Pokerstars warm up and I came in 97th out of 2400 entrants. I bubbled 4 or 5 other tournaments which could have made for a pretty wild sunday had I broke through a few of them.

    First Post

So, I woke up this morning feeling like I have alot to say and needed to find something to help clear my mind. I am not much of a writer, but I feel like starting this blog and posting on a regular basis will help keep my head clear, help my investments, and my poker game as well. My name is Andrew Ferguson, I am from Maryland, and I'm currently a senior at University of Maryland as an economics major. Despite never really being motivated for school I still feel like the situations that are thrown at you while being in college are extremely important to growing as a person and an entrepreneur. Back in 2003 everybody knows all too well that Chris Moneymaker won the WSOP main event and created the "Poker Boom." After all of the attention poker received from ESPN it lured me in not as a poker player but as a business opportunity. Unlike many professional poker players out there I first entered this market as a poker affiliate. My First website in the poker industry was cfpokermoney.com which I focused mostly on promoting Pokerheaven, and a few other small sites. This was by far the tackiest looking website I have ever seen and it did not make a dime until I had the idea of creating a Pokerheaven poker gift card. The poker gift cards worked just like any other gift card except it was for online poker. I started out by selling these on ebay which I was selling anywhere from 10-20 $50 gift cards a day which had an incredible conversion rate because people realized this was a new easy way to deposit money onto an online poker room. So, after starting my first poker website and establishing myself as a poker affiliate I started to meet all of these people that played poker for a living which i thought was just complete nonsense because I didnt really understand the game and just thought it was gambling. I found this incredibly intriguing that you could actually make a substantial income playing a card game, so I began playing with play money on party poker, and freerolls on basically every website that offered any type of freeroll because I knew if I used my own money it would just be throwing money away. Shortly after starting these freerolls I realized how much I sucked at poker, but actually managed to win a freeroll on pokerroom for $500. Still not really knowing anything about the strategy or theory of poker I went on to play 1/2 Limit Holdem, occasionally jumping up to 5/10 without any knowledge of bankroll management and soon enough busted my first poker bankroll. After this I wanted to really take the time to learn and study the game, so I read basically every website I could find information on Limit holdem. After reading an abundance of information on Limit cash games and bankroll management I decided to start playing freerolls again even though I still didnt know much about NL or tournaments in general. I managed to win another freeroll on Pokerroom.com but this time for only $250. For the most part I stuck to Limit cash games up to 30/60 using proper bankroll management for the next year and grinded up a decent bankroll. Eventually, I got very very VERY bored with limit holdem and couldnt even force myself to sit down and play anymore even though I was making decent money doing it. So, I took a fairly extended break and joined twoplustwo.com and a few other forums and began learning NL holdem and tournaments. Back in February 2006 I started a website called PSMoney.com which is now one of the largest Pokerstars T$/W$ exchange services. Just this past week I sold the website to get equity out of it, but I will still be the CEO and own a decent percentage of the company. Another website that I started which has been more of a hobby than anything is PSStakes.com which is a community that brings together investors looking to "stake" or "back" poker players. While running PSMoney i have had the privilege of meeting and speaking with many professional poker players which has been nice because I was very interested in learning more about NL cash games and tournaments. I read as much as I possibly could and talked strategy with many other players on AIM and began playing 1/2 NL cash games in august of 2005. So, this is how I met my friend Faraz Jaka aka the-toilet who is an absolutely incredible NL cash game and tournament poker player. He offered to coach and back me in all online poker tournaments, so we agreed on a deal and for the last 10 months I have been working with him on my tournament game and played 2/4 to 5/10 NL 9max cash games on the side with my own bankroll, and moved up to 10/25 to 25/50 heads up NL and 6max cash games on UB in September. Currently I have stopped playing all cash games, so that I can focus on becoming a dominant tournament player, and continue building my block of businesses. Well that pretty much sums up my life in the poker world up to this point, and will be posting details on my sessions, investments, business stuff, hand histories, random drunk posts, or just whatever I feel like posting hopefully on a regular basis.
  3. I think everything about the new site is great other than you cant see your total PLB figure in your profile which is what I liked about the old site other then that its great.
  4. I agree with these larger buyin events with huge prizepools they absolutely must have longer structures. I still consider pokerstars the #1 place to play tournaments and they do need stay one step ahead of the competition otherwise they will not always be the best for tournaments.
  5. insta fold not getting right value

  8. I cashed a bunch of tourneys last sunday and only one was recorded has anybody else had a problem with plb not tracking certain tourneys? Also, who do I talk to about getting this fixed?
  9. LOL easy? Timex has worked his ass off to get where he is.
  10. so you can see the future? I made this because its 100% worth it if somebody DOES have some sort of idea that is triggered. You never know when the right idea pops into your head. I am an extremely open minded person and you seem very closed minded, so we are not going to agree on this ever probably. But I am certain it is definately possible for something constructive to come out of this.
  11. not sure what I want to do...this is just a brainstorming session. It gets the blood flowing and your brain moving so we can eventually get to the next step which would be figuring out how to implement this new idea once we come up with it. I dont know anything about the whole biometric fingerprint stuff other than its super inexpensive to do nowadays. Please read all of each posts before replying to a post because I clearly stated that pokerstars would cover this cost in my idea. But again I dont know how many times I have to say it these are just ideas they dont have to be 100% feasible you just have to start somewhere.
  12. hmm thats a really good point and idea. Im definately going to think about this alot and see if there is anyway to still allow player to player transfers but more securly. I cant really think of anyway to do this and still keep fast transfers, but ill keep thinkin about a way.
  13. lol at you being so closed minded. I created this thread as a BRAINSTORMING thread meaning any and all ideas which is one of the best ways to start a new business as well. If everyone thought the way I did i wouldnt be able to make any money in any industry so thats fine ill be "stupid." Obviously i knew people would make worthless posts just like yours, but there will be plenty of benefit to weed through these and really put some solid ideas together. All of these things in this thread are IDEAS which never have to be feasible but obviously prefered. If you think something is impossible then show us your brilliance and explain why because ALL of the ideas so far are 100% feasible if done the right way as anything else in life. If you can find it in you I would love for you to contribute, but if you would rather have fun making fun of people than making money I understand.
  14. multiaccounting and shadowing are 2 completely different topics.
  15. I think if somebody could elaborate on how electronic fingerprint systems, and a realistic cost for Pokerstars to provide this to all players at no cost to the player we could really run with this idea. I am not 100% sure how to figure out how much the poker rooms are losing for each multi accounter on average, but I will try to figure this out. The cost of providing a fingerprint system has to be WAYYYYYYYY cheaper then how much money they lose due to multiaccounters.
  16. illegal I already tried to open a few of these
  17. lol thats pretty funny, but lets try to keep this thread as professional as possible. The more professional we are the more serious the poker rooms will take this problem. I dont think they realize how deadly the multiaccounting problem is and how small it is now compared to how it could get very fast.
  18. why not this seems like a logical option to force people to use webcams because that would be pretty tough to scam if programmed correctly and not that expensive to make. Maybe fingerprint login's or watermark sercurity (i dont know much about but remember one of my entreprenuership classes talking about it. There has to be a few methods we can brainstorm and come up with that is actually possible for the pokerrooms to afford and operate. Also, I feel like if we could get certain radio/tv shows to address the multiaccounting problem and publically call out who we are 100% sure multiaccounts. I am 100% for banning any online player that cheated from live events as well. Poker is poker regardless of where you play it there are ways to cheat online and there are ways to cheat live and I dont see why any casino would ever let any player that has cheated in any form of poker play.
  19. I dont really know what options are out there for the poker rooms to prevent people from opening multiple accounts, but there has to be plenty of people on here with some unique ideas that would greatly reduce the amount of multiaccounters. I am so sick of hearing every week a different multi accounter taking down huge tournaments. So, lets use this thread to brainstorm on some ideas then I will do my best to get the ideas in the right hands.
  20. i thought for sure it was in your range but I just thought your range was big enough for me to do what I did in this situation
  21. ok I dont like to respond to strategy posts so much but I respect your game so I figured I would this time. Anyways, my thinking on this hand is that your range was pretty much any connector, face cards or pocket pair and I know your very aggressive so I figured you would cbet any flop and there was a ton of flops I was comfortable getting all in. If you raised to 250k I would have just called and stop and go'd you for value since you would be committed with most hands that I am still ahead of. Specially on this flop I was trying my best to get my chips in the middle and it worked out, but I know you were wondering if theres anyway you can get away from this or get me to fold and i think neither are possible.
  22. lol i must have done something right against u :) thanks again guys
