  1. Greg "DuckU" Hobson (pictured) has been on a tear on UltimateBet. Several months after he became well-known for back-to-back wins in Full TiltSunday majors, Hobson is still quietly picking up some huge tournament scores in between sessions at the high stakes cash tables on Bodog. This week, he won the UBOC Event #4 for $55k and also took 5th in Event #5 for over $13k. Also at the Event #4 final table with DuckU were dabadestchicand potroast, who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively, as well as 6th place finisher CapnJackpot. All of those being accomplished players, it was not an easy final table for the eventual champion. In Event #5, the winner was online poker veteran, proud father, and PokerXFactor.com instructor Eric "Rizen" Lynch (left), who received nearly $58k for his win. His heads up opponent was Nutstr84444, and others at the final table included pokerpixie, the aforementioned DuckU, and majdasad. P5er DoubleS00tedhad his second big win in about a month, taking down the Full Tilt $750k Guaranteed for $132k. In early November, he took down the Sunday Million on Stars, and these two wins have combined for over $300k. Others at the final table of the $750k included bfineman(4th), mc_palermo(5th), and rkruok(9th). The other big Sunday tournament on Full Tilt was also won by a P5er. Popular OT poster MrTimCaum(right) "shipped" the Mulligan for over $37k, defeating fellow P5er dapalma150heads up. Cdbr3799finished 4th in this one, while Dyzalot, Rex55, and FatalErrortook 6th, 8th, and 9th places respectively. The Sunday Warm Up on PokerStarsjust upped its guarantee to $500k and actually had a small overlay this week. It was taken down for nearly $100k by ryanmack91. One of his opponents at the final table was P5er Shaihulud. The Sunday Million also had some members of this site in the final group. Gbmantistook 3rd place, Denmark's top online player Klausentook 5th, and Jeffb48was the 9th place finisher. TheFitGuy won the always difficult $200 rebuy on Stars, defeating rdcrsn heads up. TheWacoKidd(left), All In At 420, ShannonShorr, mr. menlo, and rkruoktook 4th-8th places in that order. For rkruok, it was his second major final table of the day, having also taken 9th in the Full Tilt $750k. Given that all three founders of PocketFives.com are Vanderbilt graduates, we have to send a special congrats to Scott "dorinvandy" Dorin, a VU student who plays poker on the side and this week won the Sunday Second Chance for over $51k. Scott beat one of the most popular P5ers heads up, Mr_BigQueso. Justpartime6and player222were also present at the final table, finishing 6th and 7th. Finally on PartyPokerin the $300k Guaranteed, Toronto resident Michael "Bertrand13" Bertrand finishied 3rd for $21k. The next two finishers below him were also P5ers. Mongyand fhaugentook 4th and 5th in the event. Congrats to everyone who cashed this week. 2. Million Dollar Guarantee? Pshhhh....old news. This week's 10 Billionth Hand Celebration on PokerStars culminated in a $250k added event that ended up with a prizepool of nearly 2.5 Million Dollars. Just under 11,000 people entered the event, with a ridiculous 2,619 being paid. Longtime P5s contributing writer Jeff "jeffbeesdat" Gray had to play for many hours before finally exiting in fourth place, having won over $59k. P5ers Aaron "gotcha55" Kanter and PiMasterboth outlasted him, taking 2nd and 3rd. Uncpeejand oldschool043were also at the final table. Full Tilt also had a huge event this week--so huge it paid significantly more than $300k to first and gave a six-figure payout to the top four spots! KingDanfinished in the top two for an enormous payday. P5er SN8WMANtook 9th for more than $25k as well. With all the talk centering on PokerStars and Full Tilt, it would've been easy to forget there were other major tournaments this week. P5ers managed to stand out on Bodog, though, where they occupied the top four spots in the $100k Guaranteed. Round42(left) took it down for $25k, and basebaldy, A__TheKevlar__2, and chinaskiwere the next three finishers. And honestly, what would a Sunday Report be without some mention of Imper1um? Out of all the incredible weekend performances he's turned out online, this weekend was probably the greatest. It started on Friday night, when he took first place in Event #8 of the FTOPS, which was worth over $40k. Pretty standard weekend so far for him. That win was followed on Sunday by another massive win--his biggest online win to date. The Sunday Warm Up on Stars had a prizepool of $711k, and Imp took it down for another $109k. P5er SitAndStack was his heads up opponent, and he ended up leaving with nearly $60k. More dominance by top players on Stars included a win in the $200 rebuy by MrSmokey1. Others at the final table included SCTrojans, HB_HITMAN, pbdrunks, and stpauli111---all of whom have records that speak for themselves. The other major Sunday event there is the Second Chance $200, and currently Yearly PLB leader PearlJammerfinished 4th in that one. SN8WMAN, who also final tabled the FTOPS Main Event, took 5th in the Second Chance, and DCJ311finished 7th. Loyal P5er and professional poker player Sean "Big Swing"Johnson (left) came in 3rd in the $200k Guaranteed on UltimateBet this week. His finish was worth just under $18k. Joeblazenyctook 5th, and PokerJoe9was the 8th place finisher. SCTrojansand HB_HITMANeach earned their second mention in this report by taking 9th and 10th respectively. Congrats to all P5ers who cashed this weekend. 3. It's becoming a regular thing each week to talk about repeats, so we'll start off by posting the repeat finisher of the week, who was BIGSkkY, finishing 6th in the 1/4M guaranteed PartyPoker after winning it the previous week. Runner up is pocketfiver Homer07, who finished 4th in the $120k guaranteed on UltimateBet for the 2nd time in 3 weeks. Congrats to them on their consistent, stellar performances in the biggest tournaments online. Some other well-known top finishers on PartyPoker this weekend were THEWachovia (7th in "Friday Special") and DOEKOEAKA Exclusive (10th in 1/4M guaranteed). Athletec, a player who has had frequent success as of late, was 4th in $200k guaranteed. A lot of top ranked players went far on Paradise in the $100k guaranteed, including The Hatand Spencerman, who finished 2nd and 5th respectively. Pocketfiver nasber, who won the event on April 3, finished 8th. The most impressive feat of the weekend, however, was accomplished by Christian Kruel (final table participant in the Bahamas WPT), who took down the $100k guaranteed on Paradise and finished fourth in the $350k guaranteed on PokerStars, for a combined win of nearly $60k! 4. The Sunday prize pools continue to grow in amazing fashion, with this week's Sunday Million on PokerStars growing to a pot of more than $1.5M and their Sunday Warm Up growing to nearly $350k. The Bodog $100k saw its biggest field ever as well, finally breaking its guarantee for the first time ever with 1,034 entrants. To everyone who loved the overlay, don't worry---it'll be healthy again in two weeks when the guarantee is permanently doubled to $200k! Kasedowgyand TheWacoKidd(pictured) were the top two finishers in the UltimateBet $200k Guaranteed, which also broke 1,000 entrants this week. P5ers Traumatizeand ComeOnPhishwere also at that final table. Speaking of ComeOnPhish(left), he had a particularly impressive Sunday. In addition to his 10th in the UB $200k, he also narrowly missed the final table of the Sunday Million and managed another final table in the Stars $100 rebuy at the same time. The Sunday Million had two P5ers in the final four this week. Miamihanstook part in a two-way chop that earned him just over $136k for second place. Shepstarended up finishing 4th, which netted him an impressive $61k. The $200 rebuy final table on Stars featured several P5ers, and most notably, PokerJoe9and Rizen(right) were the top two finishers. NotoriousBIL, who's had a number of strong performances in the majors, took 7th, and CJones984and dlperriorounded out the final table. The other big Stars freezeouts--the Sunday Warm Up and the 2nd Chance $200--also had a few of our members in deep. Allinstevieactually took down the Sunday Warm Up, which was the third biggest prize pool online Sunday, having a first prize over $70k. HighLifeManand muchakafinished 7th and 8th respectively. In the 2nd Chance $200, kbicoltook 6th place and LabRatMikefinished 9th. Lacky, who's been quickly moving up the rankings lately, had another nice score on Full Tilt this week, taking 4th in the $400k Guaranteed. Vinson135took 7th, and another up and comer, KUSH, finished 9th in the event. Last but not least, the ever-growing Bodog $100k saw four P5ers go deep. Richiet99was the highest finishing P5er, taking 4th place. Basebaldy, Roothlus, and TravestyFundfinished 6th, 8th, and 9th respectively. We're all looking forward to seeing these pools get bigger and bigger as 2007 moves along. Good luck to everyone in the coming week. 5. Tournaments were bigger than ever this weekend, with several prize pools exceeding recent performace. UltimateBet had the most entrants they've ever had in their $200+15 event, as 675 people attempted to win a piece of the $135,000 prize pool. PokerStars also had a bigger prize pool than usual in their $350k guaranteed event, with first prize up above $100k. A couple ranked players from PocketFives.com came very close to the final table in the ¼ million guaranteed on PartyPoker. Iamlucky finished in 19th place, just after westtexasman finished in 25th. Congrats to those guys for making it most of the way through that tough field. The same thing happened to several of our ranked guys on PokerStars, as they fell just short of the final table. Tops among them were gank (11th), E-WeE (19th), Legato (24th), and TheBeat (29th). In the UltimateBet $100k Guaranteed $200+15 event, JohnnyBax made it to the final table, but he was severely short-stacked and finished in 10th place. Others making it close in that one were jsup (27th) and brsavage(37th). The Paradise tourney had a nice prize pool of around $140k, although we don't have the exact final results from that one. The only real high finisher among our ranked guys was Aawwnutz, who finished 13th and won $1,250. One other tourney we don't have exact results for was the Friday Night $200+15 on PartyPoker, and, as is getting to be fairly predictable, JohnnyBax finished near the top of that one. 6. Once again, some of the same people are coming up big in the same tournaments. kewgardens got his second straight runner up finish in the $1/4M guaranteed on PartyPoker, and Wachoviamade his second straight "Friday Special" final table on the same site, finishing 2nd and getting more $20k this time. On UltimateBet, Dirky66 won the $120k guaranteed after finishing 3rd the previous Sunday. Some props go out to a couple of our ranked players who won WSOP packages in the bigger WSOP sats. The Hat won his seat in the $615 satellite on PokerStars, and P0ker H0won the $1000 WSOP satellite on Paradise. In the $100k guaranteed on Paradise, that same P0ker H0 finished 5th overall for a nice prize of about $7k, and P5er mx4evercame in 10th. On UltimateBet, SamENolemade yet another final table, finishing 5th in the big one and winning nearly $7k. Some other P5ers who made this final table were foshio(2nd), win89(3rd), and perfectool(8th). 7. Another weekend has passed, and another few million dollars have exchanged hands. As always on the last Sunday of the month, PokerStars Sunday tournament was a $500 buy in, and with their new $700k guarantee, they had a prize pool of well over $800k, which designated nearly $190k to first place. PartyPoker also had their $1M guaranteed this past Saturday. In the PokerStars event, AngryCLECcame very close to the final table, still bringing in well over $6k for 14th place. The final four of this tournament ended up arranging a chop that left each of them with at least $100k!!! Later that evening, a couple more pocketfivers made scores on the same site in the $100 rebuy, most noteably DoubleLucky, who finished off an extremely tough heads up opponent, jerrod, to win first prize and more than $20k. After nearly taking home the title in the PartyPoker $350k guaranteed last Sunday, jacksupmade yet another major final table on the same site, taking 8th place in the $1M guaranteed, which paid more than $25k. yahtzee0(iMsoLucky0) finished 10th in the $200k guaranteed later that night. A top repeat performer this week was BudMansCom, who finished 8th in the $100k guaranteed on Paradise for the second consecutive week! Congrats to him on another nice cash. The Bodog $100k guaranteed final table was packed with pocketfives talent, including RandyLerch, who took first prize and $25,000 in his first ever tournament on the site! He didn't have the easiest competition either, with PFabeand divingduckfinishing 6th and 7th respectively. Congrats are also due to one more pocketfiver, pepochino, who got 2nd and more than $19k in the $100k guaranteed on UltimateBet. 8. Introduction: PokerRoom.com is one of the oldest and most respected internet card rooms. It was established in 1999 and has been providing solid poker action ever since. Just because they've been around for a while doesn't mean they are stuck in their ways by any means. PokerRoom is one of the most innovative sites out there. They are constantly developing new features for their users. Their java applet allows you to play from anywhere with no download. There is nothing flashy about this site. You won't find high rollers slinging money in big limit games, but what you will find is one of the best sites out there for middle limit cash games. The action at PokerRoom is smooth and fast. The graphical layout is one of the best in the industry, and the user interface is top notch. Cash Games: PokerRoom is simply a great place to play ring games. From the $.50/1 games to the $10/20 games, you're always going to find a seat open at a nearly full table. The lack of major tournaments on this site keep the sharks off the site and out of the cash games, so overall, play is pretty weak. Unfortunately there are no microlimit games on PokerRoom. The lowest level of play is $.50/1, so if you are looking to only deposit $25, you should consider a different site. But if you're depositing $100 or more, you'll have plenty of money and will really enjoy this site's charm. PokerRoom also offers Omaha and 7 Card Stud games, although these tables rarely fill out like their Hold'em tables. PokerRoom has recently developed its No Limit Holdem games into a thriving section of the site. Log on anytime and you'll find dozens of $.25/.50 no limit tables, at least ten tables with $5/10 blinds, and a nice variety of blind levels in between. PokerRoom offers many cool features, some that you won't find on other sites. Their "Tag the Fish" feature allows you to mark each player with a colored symbol that tells you what kind of player they are. You can edit six different symbols, classifying players as loose passive, tight aggressive, etc. PokerRoom also has one of the best Statistics tracking tools - You can track your winnings for a single session or for the entire day. It gives you your flop percentage, average big bets per hand, your hourly rate, and much more. Tournaments: Like the rest of the site, PokerRoom's tournament section caters to the middle limit players. Most of their tournaments range between $5 and $20 buy-ins and attract 150-300 players. PokerRoom starts a tournament every 15 minutes, so anytime you get a craving for small buy-in tournament play, you're sure to find something you like under the tournament tab. Not all PokerRoom tourneys are small. They'll occasionally host $30 buy-ins complete with rebuys, add-ons, and healthy $30,000 guaranteed prize pools. Even if you really enjoy your small buy-in games, it's nice to take a shot at a 10K first prize every once in a while. One of the latest new releases from PokerRoom and is Team Play Tournaments. A group of Pocketfivers took part in the beta testing for this feature and it is an eciting addition to the world of internet poker. Miscellaneous: PokerRoom is always running special promos for their players. Visit PokerRoom.com, click on the promo tabs and see if there's anything you like. "Pokah," PokerRoom's poker community, and the Poker school are other cool features of the site. PokerRoom does a great job of catering to their players and keeping them happy. The "Pokah" community keeps players updated on all the latest promotions and develops a community atmosphere for players to get to know one another. Their Poker School gives free lessons to get new players acclimated to the different games and the nature of online play. Soft Games: PokerRoom as a whole is a pretty soft site. The selection of games is not as diverse as other sites, making play fairly consistent across the board. While the bigger no limit games do get tough, a solid, conservative player should feel comfortable at almost every table on this site. PokerRoom offers a40% sign-up bonus up to $200. Click here to start playing on PokerRoom today! PocketFives.com recommends that you try this site at least once - it could easily become your favorite place to play. It's nothing flashy, just a great place to play middle-limit ring games and small buy-in tournaments. The active Pokah! forum gives the site a certain charm and sense of community that you won't find on other sites. Also, you can count on PokerRoom to be an industry leader when it comes to providing new and innovative features and games to their users.
  9. Participation was decent in the big tournaments this weekend, but there were definitely some interesting results to note. 9th ranked DoubleLuckywon the $75k Guaranteed $200 buy in tournament on FullTilt, winning $18,750--congrats to him! Sheets and Lucky Sevenalso made the final table, and TheDonator finished 19th. 258 showed up for this one, so FullTilt missed their guaranteed by over $20k, which is great for the players. Also on FullTilt, there was a $100 tourney with 355 entrants and a $50 tourney with 334 entrants, so it seems like participation there is really on the rise. A very exciting tournament, at least in terms of many top players finishing high, was the $300 Sunday tourney on Paradise, where No Limit Pro finished 4th. Other noteables with high finishes in this one were WolfDex(9th), iloveparis (14th), brsavage (17th), NSXT2 (18th), acesfull23(19th), BigHog1(27th), and The Hat(28th). The $200 on PokerStars was pretty much the exact opposite, with no ranked players finishing anywhere near the final table. It did have a very juicy prize pool, as always, with over $100k paid out to first place (although a 3 way deal brought that down to just under $80k). The $100 rebuy on PokerStars showcased the talents of Madhattter (4th), TheTakeover(8th), TheDonator (14th), and Faithless(15th). This is an exciting tournament to watch, as the prize pool is always large ($45k this week), and it consistently brings in one of the most talented groups of entrants of any tournament on the internet. A noteable from the weekend on PartyPoker is WangoTango11. While we were unfamiliar with this player before the weekend, he placed 3rd in the Saturday $200k Guaranteed, and then finished 22nd in the 1/4 Million Guaranteed the next day. Between them, he won well over $20k. In that same 1/4 Million Guaranteed, DuffMcGuire was 33rd and TheDonator13 was 34th. A few noteables made the money in the $120K Guaranteed on UltimateBet, and Soupster(soupie) finished 2nd, picking up nearly $23k! The next highest ranked finisher in this tournament was Dave118, who placed 30th. PocketFives.com regulars Austin_Powersand Benefit both made the money, and a couple other noteables who did well were Tranquilo (15th) and SlowRolinWorm(49th). 10. PocketFives members took down five of the ten tournaments in our report this week, including the two big ones--the $1M Guaranteed events on Full Tiltand PokerStars. AJunglen7took it down in the Sunday Million, while Chad "M8kingmoves" Batista (right) won over $212k in the Full Tilt event, which dwarfed his $15k score earlier in the day in the Stars $100 rebuy. Other P5ers at the aforementioned finals included Damauler12, Fiery Justice, and Stamdogg, who took 2nd, 4th, and 8th respectively on Full Tilt. Kingswiredwas the 4th place finisher in the Stars event. Back on Saturday, CrazyMarco(left)picked up yet another big online win to add to an already highly impressive resume. His first place in the Absolute$150k, which had a $530 buy in this week, was worth more than $41k. He beat out P5ers thelaf320 (4th) and KartinKen(7th) at the final table. While he's not a P5er, we thought it was important to give vietcong01recognition this week for an amazing accomplishment. He was the first place finisher after a chop in last week's Sunday Million, and this week he took down the $400k Guaranteed Sunday Warm Up. Those two wins combined for well over $200k. His opponent heads up was former top 10 ranked P5er HighRoller48, who somehow found a way to improve on his 5th place finish in the same event last week. P5er string_musicfinished 9th. Soggyvag2, who quietly puts up great results all the time, took down the UltimateBet$200k Guaranteed this week for $45k, defeating fellow P5er McNallyvilleheads up. The-Toilet, who's won this event before, took 5th place, and DMACMfinished 7th. One more major tournament champion was yeventry, who took down the Stars Second Chance for over $53k. He also defeated a P5er heads up, and that P5er was bigredAK. Chipsteelafinished 5th in the event, and richie menlotook 7th. A__theKevlar__2and Aaron "gotcha55" Kanter (right) are no strangers to the final table of the Bodog$100k Guaranteed, each having been there several times in the past, and this week they finished 3rd and 5th respectively. Thrashwas the 6th place finisher. P5er riversidejoe, who had a deep run in an early WSOP event this year, nearly won the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan, finally falling in the heads up match. Other P5ers at that final table were z32fanatic(8th) and 19FMzadester(9th). And in the tournament everyone loves to talk about, the $200 rebuy on Stars once again had 6 members of this site at the final table. 11. As of Sunday morning, two full weeks had passed since Imper1umlast won over $70k in a day, and he was getting pretty restless. The streak is over now, though. On Sunday, he had three different five-figure scores on PokerStars: 1st in the $100 rebuy ($29k), 2nd in the Sunday Warm Up ($41k), and 4th in the $200 rebuy ($11k). It was only one of the most impressive Sunday performances we've ever seen. Trackcitylad, who's no stranger to online tournament success, actually won the aforementioned $200 rebuy, which was worth $44k for first. He defeated P0KERPR033, a former winner of the event (see article) heads up. One other notable player at the final table was Noah "Exclusive" Boeken, who finished 5th. The Sunday Warm Up saw one other P5er besides Imper1um at the final table, and that was JRD312, who finished 8th. The other two big Stars tourneys, the Sunday Million and the Second Chance $200, had a variety of P5ers in deep. GrinderMJwas a big winner, taking home more than $57k for 5th in the Million Guaranteed, and Randersfinished 9th for just over $11k. In the Second Chance, moorman1and two8offfinished 3rd and 4th, and EightLargeand ComeOnPhishmade it to the final table as well, taking 8th and 9th. On Bodog, we had a winner from the P5s community. Capsocooltook down the $100k Guaranteed for a first prize of $25k. He was joined at the final table by TallyPokerand czarcaesarxx, who finished 5th and 8th respectively. After lots of excitement in the FTOPS, Full Tilt was back to its usual (but still juicy) $400k Guaranteed Sunday tournament. Three P5ers were at the final table, with eazymoney05being the highest finisher. He took 2nd place for more than $51k. Nate Jizzlewasn't far behind, taking 4th, and the highly ranked atimosfinished in 9th. UltimateBet once again had a nice overlay in the $200k Guaranteed, and not_hans_brixjust about took it down, ending up in second for $27k. Classyploppytook 3rd, and dont77finished 5th. Mackyg12ended up taking 10th in the event. Congrats to all P5ers who cashed. 12. Another weekend, more pocketfivers winning major online tournaments... The biggest winner of the day was Shaniac, who took first in the $150k guaranteed on UltimateBet for more than $36k. He also made the final table of the $50k guaranteed on Full Tilt. Nordbergdidn't just make the final table of that same tourney on Full Tilt---he won it for more than $15k! Foshiofinished off the P5s hat trick by taking down first place in the "Weekly Big Deal" $300 on PokerRoom. Paradise had a special $250k guaranteed tournament this weekend with a $200 buy in, and several pocketfivers made the final table. Those who got through included bzly9, OGPokerMan, adamoos, and bottsky. BigHog1and Candelaboth got through to the final table of the Sunday $100k guaranteed there. Mindwiseand SharkusManlyboth made the final table of the UltimateBet $150k guaranteed. They finished 4th and 7th respectively. Congrats to the many P5ers who cashed this weekend! 13. Pbdrunkshas been on an amazing run of Sunday final tables over the last couple months, starting with his two Sunday Million final tables in March on PokerStars. Since then, among other things, he's had two top five Sunday finishes including a second place in the UltimateBet $200k Guaranteed. This week, it was Full Tilt where he shined, narrowly missing the win but still taking 2nd, losing heads up to PocketFiver KanyeSouth, who took down $86k for the win. Johnnybell, mx4ever, and thugmoneymkrwere also at the final table. PartyPoker and Bodog continue to offer overlays on most Sundays, and this week was no different. Ktyven and Heinz57were able to take advantage on Bodog, finishing 3rd and 4th respectively in the $100k Guaranteed. Two P5ers final tabled the $300k on Party as well, and those were mortens22and jakobstar, who took 5th and 7th places. One tournament that usually has an overlay is the UltimateBet $200k Guaranteed. This week, however, it had 1,008 entrants and a prizepool of $201,600. Djk123took 6th in the event, and dannysekfinished 7th. We're finally on to PokerStars, where as usual, there were tons of P5ers at the big final tables. The $200 rebuy had the most P5ers, with the top five all being members of this community. Siphon3511 took it down, with apestyles, brsavage, DavidP18, and TheActionKid all right behind. Long time successful online player Lucky Sevenwas the 8th place finisher. The Sunday Warm Up had four P5ers at the final table, and the Second Chance $200 had three. In the Warm Up, pinapplsand Supreme 79were the 2nd and 3rd place finishers, while spinvistook 5th and cglinnfinished 8th. In the Second Chance, we saw Shantaramtake the crown. Agriffrodtook 6th place in this one, with muchakataking 9th. P5er Chipsteelatook 7th in the big one this week---the Sunday Million. His finish there was worth just over $22k. Columbo218finished fourth in the event for $56k. Congrats to all P5ers who cashed this weekend. 14. Lots of big tourneys this weekend, and lots of P5ers and noteables at the final tables. Muchakawas the big winner of the weekend, taking down nearly $80k in a chop in the $750k guaranteed on PartyPoker. Anakinsoand SamENolewere also at that final table, taking 6th and 7th respectively for more than $20k each. Those guys weren't the only top players to do well on PartyPoker this weekend. Majic, Tranquilo, and lucky sevenall made the final table of the Friday Special, finishing 3rd, 5th, and 9th respectively, and AaronBeentook 2nd in the $200k guaranteed for more than $27k. Paradise had a $500k guaranteed $200 rebuy on Saturday, and P5ers ebolivia, phatcat, and cory!took 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in it, each for large scores. On Sunday, BeL0WaB0Vetook down the $150k guaranteed, after watching fellow P5ers P0KERPR033and Rizenbust out in 5th and 9th place. A familiar face now at the Bodog $100k guaranteed final table is iLLNuGWichee. He took 2nd this week for more than $14k. HoosierAlumtook 4th. Continuing with his recent success, rdcrsnmade another major final table, this time in the Full Tilt $200k guaranteed, finishing 9th. No P5ers made the final table of the PokerRoom Grand this time, but 10691069and Ariboth FT'd the Weekly Big Deal, taking 2nd and 8th in it. 15. It was another impressive weekend for the Pocketfives community across all the major sites. Four major tournaments were won by Pocketfivers, totaling almost $450,000 in prize money between them. The biggest winner was jlewis10748 who took down the Full Tilt$750k. The other champs were kenn121 (PartyPoker300k), soggyvag (Pictured; UltimateBet200k), TheMiltMan (Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan), and Thorladen(PokerStars $200 rebuy). Every other major final table had at least one Pocketfiver representing, including an astounding group in the UB 200k. In the most stunning display of domination of a single tournament the Pocketfives Tourney Report has ever seen, the Pocketfives community final tabled the UltimateBet 200k in style. Pocketfivers are often found in the top spots of major tourneys, and they are often found there in numbers. Four, five, or even six players from Pocketfives making the final table is impressive, but not unheard of. Yesterday the final table of the UB 200k was entirely composed of Pocketfivers. Soggyvag was the headliner, winning $45k, but he was followed by play_2_win07, busto_soon, jdftkd, charder, DuckU, adanthar, Grinder_MJ, t soprano, and jlewis10748. These ten players took home $151,000 out of the 200k prizepool. Almost as impressive was the performance by the P5s community in the Full Tilt Poker $750k. The top four players to emerge out of a filed of 4,000 in this tournament were all Pocketfivers. Jlewis10748, in his second major final table of the day took this one down for a whopping $142,190. He was joined by lleall, Dyzalot, and AABROKER, who finished 2nd-4th. The Sunday Mulligan of Full Tilt saw another Pocketfiver come out on top. TheMiltMan added another five figure score to his growing PLB total Sunday by winning the Mulligan and almost $40k! Also representing Pocketfives were xtrACEy (pictured-right) and believer82, who finished sixth and seventh for healthy four figure cashes. Four Pocketfivers made the final table of the Bodog 100k. Leading the pack was herdgolf86, who cashed for $9,000 and third place. P5er odellthurman, playing as HerschelWalker took home $6500 for fourth, bdk_2five earned $4400 for sixth, and al0825 won $1550 for his ninth place finish. Only one registered Pocketfiver made the final table of the PartyPoker 300k, but he made the most of the opportunity by taking down the whole thing. There was a chop involved, so the exact prize money is not clear, but kenn121 took home the lion's share of the $316,000 prize pool. Pokerstars is the place to find the hottest Sunday tournament action and, the Pocketfives community is always out to grab as much of the big prize money as possible. This week in the Sunday Million WestMenlo92 aka Guzzinator fought his way through a field of 6,881 entrants, only to finish second. I am sure there is something quite bittersweet about that for such a talented player, but he does have $97k to ease his pain. The Sunday Warm-Up saw three Pocketfivers make the final table. Benno300 finished second for 47k, Jeff "mrrain" Banghart took third for 31k, and NutsErryTime took fourth for 20k. The Second Chance ended with the same result, with DrCaligula, adotlee and Believer82 taking 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively. This was the second final table of the day for Believer82, who raked in 20k between the two cashes. In the $200 rebuy, Thorladen, the King of OT as well as sage mentor to many young poker players, emerged victorious from a talented final table. Thorladen won $55,650 for his first place finish. He had to beat out DuckU (3rd), gator93 (4th), The Omaholic (5th), the donator (7th) and USCphildo (8th) on his way to the big win. Congrats to everyone who cashed this week. 16. This week's PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player Rankings features a jump up to the #4 spot by Jon "PearlJammer" Turner (right), who has reached 29 final tables so far this year, with five of those being wins. His first place finish earlier this month in the PokerStars Nightly Hundred Grand earned him a paycheck of $33,700, as he continues to benefit from his poker talent and business-like work ethic. Also moving up in the Top 10 this week were Russell "rdcrsn" Carson, who is now ranked #5 in the world, and Danny "THE__D__RY" Ryan. "THE__D__RY" enjoyed a 3-spot move up to #6 this week on the heels of his 2nd Place finish in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series Event #12 for $170,000. The $300+22 6-handed NLHE rebuy event had 1,361 entrants. Moving up three spots to #17 is Garrett "GBecks" Beckman (left). At 23 years of age, Garrett has already established himself as one of the premier online players in the world, winning the FTOPS Event #5 for $102k, the PokerStars Wednesday Hundred Fifty Grand for $48k, and the PokerStars $25k Guaranteed for $19k. Mr. Beckman is followed in the rankings this week by "Kenny Rap," who took down the PokerStars $215 Heads-Up tournament on February 10th for $13,800. Kenny is up five places to #23 in the world, and shows no signs of relinquishing his momentum as he moves up the rankings. PocketFives.com Triple Crown winner Shawn "phatcat" Luman is on fire this month; having won the Nightly Hundred Grand, placed 2nd in the Wednesday Hundred Fifty Grand, and won the $100 rebuy, all on PokerStars. Shawn is all the way up to #27 this week thanks to his awesome results for the month of February. Up to #30 is Brian "SN8WMAN" Hawkins, who has put up impressive online tournament results for the past year. "RandALLin" (right) is up 12 to #35 after picking up steam in the past three months. Randall won the Full Tilt $50k Guaranteed in January for $21,500 after placing 3rd in the Sunday Brawl a month earlier. He's had ten final tables so far in February, including a 2nd Place showing in the UltimateBet $75k Guaranteed tournament. "GhettoFabolous" has moved up 20 to #39, as he crushes the competition this month. After his January victory in the PokerStars rebuy, he took first in the Full Tilt $65k and final tabled the FTOPS Event #10. Phil "USCphildo" Collins is up nine to #47 after winning the PokerStars $100 rebuy on February 21st. "Asiandude7" is now ranked #48 in the world after taking 2nd in the Sunday Second Chance for $32k earlier this month. Josh"pbdrunks" VanDuyn (left) has stormed into the Top 50 this week after winning the PokerStars $1k Super Tuesday for $71k. He also has wins in the Full Tilt $55k Guaranteed and $25k Guaranteed tournaments in 2008. Christian"charder" Harder and Andy "BKiCe" Seth are ranked #55 and #56 respectively after making huge jumps in this week's rankings update. Christian won the Full Tilt $1k Monday for $80,750 and final tabled the PokerStars $215 rebuy on back-to-back nights this past week, as Andy kept pace with over $120k in high-stakes including a 4th Place finish in this month's FTOPS. Russell "rcrane082985" Crane (right) is now ranked #60 after taking down the PokerStars $100 rebuy for $44k and cashing for $24k in the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan in February. Evan "PURPLEPILS99" Parkes has also had a great month of February, taking down the Full Tilt $32k Guaranteed and finishing 2nd in the Nightly Hundred Grand. Evan also won the Full Tilt $1k Monday on New Year's Eve for nearly $42,000. PocketFiver "bhanks11," who plays by the name "usourcek" on PokerStars, made online tournament headlines with his victory in the PokerStars Sunday Million for $278,000. He's joined the Top 100 this week at #68 in the world. Well known forum poster "mattg1983" (left) moved up ten spots to #69 after winning the PokerStars $100 rebuy on February 23rd. Thomas "titantom32" Braband (right) has moved up 19 spots to #70 this week as he continues to prove his poker ability with results. Tom won the PokerStars $1k Super Tuesday last month for $72k, and won the $20k Guaranteed last week for $9,100. He is followed by "stpauli111," who has enjoyed a nice rankings boost from his final table appearance in the PokerStars Sunday Million. "Roothlus" Adam Levy continues to climb the ladder and is currently ranked #72. Adam has a 4th Place in the Full Tilt $1k Monday, a win in the $32k Guaranteed, along with a 2nd Place finish in the $65k Guaranteed - all within the past 30 days. "BigRiskky" is now the #82 ranked online tournament player in the world after moving up 11 spots this week. New to the rankings this week is "xxjondxx," who won the Ultimate Bet Online Championship Event #10 for $41k in late 2007, then followed that up with a win in the PokerStars rebuy on New Year's Day and a 4th Place finish in the $1k Super Tuesday this month. PocketFiver "Paesano" enters the rankings at #90; having won the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up for $112k on February 17th. PocketFiver "potroast" (left) is new to the rankings at #92 upon final tabling the Full Tilt $300+22 for a score of $62,400 and the PokerStars $215 rebuy for $20,700 this month. "TheFitGuy" earns a spot in this week's rankings at #97 following his victory in the FTOPS Event #10 for $214k. "ChuckSty" has five final tables in the month of February and enters at #98, while "lyerly" rounds out the Top 100 coming off his victory in the PokerStars $55k Guaranteed. Be sure to check back next week for all the updates and action in the PocketFives.com Online Tournament Player Rankings.
  17. Introduction: ParadisePoker has been providing online poker action since 1999. The site has always been one of the major players in Online Poker and continues to attract thousands of players today. Paradise normally has over 7000 users logged on during peak hours. Paradise is one of the more attractive sites. They take great care with their graphics, creating a relaxing tropical theme that makes for a comfortable and fun gaming environment. The flow of the game on Paradise is acceptable, but it's not up to par with some of the better sites. There are often long pauses on the showdown because all players are autoprompted if they would like to show their cards. Sometimes it takes a few seconds for the winning hand to be turned up, whereas it's instant on most sites. There is also an uncomfortable pause when the pot is pushed to a player. If you like fast, uninterrupted action, this might not be the site for you. Tournaments: ParadisePoker is a great site for multitable tournaments. They have a large variety of tournaments, some of which establish incredible prize pools. The daily $30 rebuys guarantee $35,000, and the Sunday $300 buy-in always generates a prize pool of over $100K. Paradise has a number of lucrative tournaments, which always attract the top sharks. PocketFives.com #1 ranked player, brsavage, has taken down the $30 rebuy multiple times. If you can outlast him, NSXT2, Mr. Lobo, and the rest of the Paradise field, a 10K payday is in store for you any day of the week! Paradise hosts multitable tourneys usually every 30 minutes, and they always offer a wide variety of buy-ins. Looking at their tournament screen at the time of this writing, I see a $3 NLHE satellite starting in 2 minutes, with a $100 NLHE tourney and a $40 PL Omaha tourney starting in 32 minutes. I also see a note for a $1000 buy-in tournament that is still a few weeks away! Everyone is sure to find a tourney to fit his or her tastes on Paradise. The tournament structure is not highly conducive to skillful play. The blinds start out fairly high compared to your stack and increase every 15 minutes. The blinds go up every 10 hands in the Sit and Go's, which can lead to some real crap shoots if you face off with some tight players. Cash Games: ParadisePoker is one of the few sites that caters to the micro limit player. They offer a wide array of Hold'em games at $.02/.04, $.05/.10, and $.10/$.20. You can deposit $25 and play forever with stakes like those. Their Stud games also have microlimits, but for Omaha you've got to play at least $.50/1 blinds. Paradise also offers solid 5 and 10 handed games at all the middle limits. And, if you have more expensive tastes, give the $40/80 limit Hold'em tables a try, where hundreds of dollars are pushed around on every hand. If you're an old school player or you are looking for some variety, Paradise has some pretty interesting selections under the "miscellaneous games" tab. You can find active tables of 5-Card Stud, 5-Card Draw, and Pineapple. ParadisePoker does keep excellent player stats, but hand histories are only sent through email, which is a little annoying. Miscellaneous: Paradise puts in extra effort to enhance the total player experience. Their sound quality is second to none and the graphical layout is enchanting. They also give you a novelty option of ordering food, cocktails, or smokes to set at your chair-side table. This is fun to play around with a few times, but gets old quickly. The big tournaments on this site are fun to observe. You'll always find one of our ranked players duking it out for huge prize pools. NSXT2 and Mr. Lobo are two ParadisePoker regulars you should definitely keep an eye on. And be sure to watch when they bust someone, because Paradise uses a "Going up in smoke" graphic that never gets old. Paradise also has a cool section called "Poker Tips and Tells" in which some of their most well-known players discuss their poker experiences. Model Caprice hosts ParadisePoker, and if you explore the site you'll find some great videos of her teaching the basics of the game. Soft Games: Any player with good poker sense will find the lower limit games under the "Miscellaneous Games" tab to be quite soft. Playing such a limited information game like 5-Card Stud on the internet creates an interesting dynamic. Most players in these games have simply no idea if their hand is better than yours, so they call with any made hand. Most people are in that room to gamble on a novelty game while they take a break from the more intensive Hold'em games. A patient player should be able to wait them out and strike hard with big hands. Click here to play ParadisePoker. Great graphics, great user interface, good tournaments, and good selection of games. 7000 players during peak hours. Game play is a little slow, hand histories only sent through email. Can be hard to find information about deposit bonuses and player promotions.

  19. For the second straight weekend, a pocketfiver took down the $100k guaranteed on Paradise. Last week, it was colson10, and this week, elfleaderwas able to close it out and win more than $30k for first place. Congrats to both on a job well done. Our biggest winner of the weekend, however, was iMsoLucky0, who took 5th in the $1M guaranteed on PartyPoker, which was good for $50k. JJProdigyalso made the final table, finishing 10th. Another pocketfiver who pulled a big score on Sunday was IncognitoNYC, who took 7th place in the $500k guaranteed on PokerStars, winning more than $17k. On Bodog, 4check,Seal, and McGarrett took 2nd, 3rd, and 9th respectively in the $100k guaranteed, each getting a nice payout. gator93bubbled off the final table of this one, taking 10th place overall. One last noteable finish this weekend was on Full Tilt, and the player was flippa. He took 3rd prize in the $40k guaranteed, just one week after his 4th place finish in the same tournament. Congrats to flippa on his excellent repeat performance. 20. P5ers were all over the place this weekend, with someone finishing in the top four of every major event that's covered in the weekly review. Three of those tournaments were won by P5ers, including the Sunday $200 rebuy on PokerStars. Rdcrsn(pictured)took it down for just over $40k, edging out P5ers TheWacoKidd, mattg1983, and beryaat the final table. YourTimeIsUpalso took down a big one, finishing first overall in the $400k Guaranteed on Full Tilt. P5ers Zonnywhoopand JBT449were the competition in the final three, and each of those three went home with at least $32k. The other P5er to win a major this week was JRD312, who took down the Sunday Warm Up. Although there's never a wrong week to win this event, this week certainly was one of the better ones to do it, as there were well over 2,000 entrants, and the first prize was an incredible $86k. The tournament w as actually chopped between a few players, and Gigabetand Nole91were also each able to leave with a large payday. Gbmantis(left) came close to another win in the Bodog $100k, but he ended up in 4th, finishing right behind P5ers Dyzalotand WiCane, who took 2nd and 3rd respectively. Ndrudy46was also at the final table, taking 7th place. The Sunday Million this week had an unusually high percentage of P5ers in deep; six members of the site were at the final table, occupying spots 3-8. In order, those six were Mr_BigQueso, mman_status, XTraCey, jordankickz, Econ Adager, and pbdrunks. Particularly notable is the face that pbdrunks was at this same final table earlier in the month---an uncommon accomplishment to say the least! In the Second Chance event, Cre8ive took 4th place for $13k, and z32fanaticfinished 7th for just over $6k. Finally, on UltimateBet in the $200k Guaranteed, which continues to feature an overlay, most weeks (this week's was just over $30k, accounting for more than 15% of the prizepool), rppkozwas able to take 2nd place for $27k. Ranked P5er BKiCewas right behind, taking 4th, and P5ers icyravenhawk, siphon3511, and Raoeoikutook 6th-8th respectively. Congrats to everyone who cashed over the weekend. Here are the results. 21. A couple pocketfivers had huge weekends, and the pack was led by loewa79, who won his WSOP seat on InterPoker two days after winning the PartyPoker Friday Special, which paid out more than $35k. SamENole made the final table of the same Friday Special and the Piece of the Pro tournament on Full Tilt, while just missing the final table of the PartyPoker $350k guaranteed (12th place). Bodog continues to have a massive overlay every Sunday, this week to the tune of $41,900, although we sadly cannot report that a pocketfiver won the tournament for the second consecutive week. The highest finishing member of the community was hookem148, who took 25th place. strassa2had a huge win on PokerStars, bringing in $57k after chopping the $500k guaranteed 4-ways. DippyDough was able to hang on for a long time in the UltimateBet $120k guaranteed, despite being severely short stacked for much of the later part of the tournament, and he ended up finishing in 6th place in the tournament. SailorLobellfinished 10th. Other pocketfivers who came close to the final table of this one include NestOfSalt(11th), AngryCLEC(16th), and bdluss(20th). One other pocketfiver who nearly made a final table in a major this weekend was NSXT2, who finished 18th overall in the $100k guaranteed tournament on Paradise. Special props go out to FastYellowand Tranquilo, who won their World Series seats in the 30 seat guaranteed tournament on Full Tilt, a tournament that ended up paying 35 $12k packages! 22. The biggest events this weekend were part of the FTOPS on Full Tilt, and a full recap of those events is forthcoming in the next day or two. In the meantime, let's talk about the rest of the weekend. Well-known online player Justin "jurollo" Rollo (pictured) finished with all the chips in the PokerStars 2nd Chance $200. First prize there was worth over $50k, and he's our featured winner in this week's Tournament Review. Rollo defeated a number of P5ers deep in that event, including JayPez and lucky_aces08, who were the next two finishers. Phwaptook 6th, and snugglez88finished 7th. Superfluous Mannearly took the top prize in the UltimateBet$200k Guaranteed, falling one spot short. One story of interest at the final table: sooooted, who recently won the Full Tilt $1M Guaranteed and Stars Sunday Million in back to back weeks, finished 5th at the final table. P5er structuretook 7th place. JohnnyBax(left) did what we've become so used to over the years, dominating a final table and taking home a big chunk of cash. This was one of the biggest out of all his great online wins--he took down the $200 rebuy on Stars for more than $60k! Atimosand siphon3511finished 4th and 5th respectively, each earning a nice five-figure payday. P5er Balla-B13was a huge winner on Stars, finishing in the top spot in the Sunday Million for nearly $200k. A recent winner of the UB $200k Guaranteed, the $45k he won there is miniscule in comparison to what he picked up yesterday in the Sunday Million. Congrats to Balla-B13 on a fantastic win! Other weekend action included the Sunday Warm Up on Stars, where P5ers goleafsgoeh, DevilTruck, and bikocruzall made the final table. Also, the Full Tilt Sunday Mulligan saw a P5er win, and that was tcblade. He had to beat out jda, zrc11, WiscoMurray, and shaundeebin the final 9. Lastly, we nearly saw another P5er win the Bodog$100k Guaranteed, which had an overlay this week of just under $24k. Cambiassoand Goodyvaj763were both in the final three, but they finished in the 2nd and 3rd positions. Capt Cabernetwas the fifth place finisher in the event. Congrats to everyone who cashed this week.
