  1. For those who justify the policeman's action: would it have been ok for him to pull out his gun and shoot her in the face? Ok so where do you draw the line? A big male with other big males with guns for backup, the authority of the law on their side, in a punching match with a single small female - thats ok to you? If so let me break it down for you: their job is to arrest her and if need be defend themselves with deadly force: any violent act that does not help with the arrest or is in self defense is illegal. Big male cop smacks the woman: that is not an attempt to arrest nor is that an attempt to defend himself: that is a violent act. It might not seem like a big deal to some but police carry deadly weapons and have authority over ordinary civilians: you do not want one of them deciding to get even or act in a way that releases whatever else they are feeling in an emotional moment.
