I did a juice fast last summer and it was highly successful. I drank five juices a day, which amounted to anywhere from 1200-1500 calories. After the first week or so, my energy levels were actually really high and I was able to keep up a normal workout routine. I dropped about 20 pounds, but I was probably 60 pounds overweight at the time. For your situation, I probably wouldn't recommend a full month fast. You could consider a juice fast for a week and then replace one meal or snack a day with juice, which is what I try to do now. It's a great way to get nutrients from fruits and veggies that you wouldn't otherwise get.
