About Borgata Poker

Borgata Hotel and Casino’s history dates back in 1999, where it all started as a dream by casino Mogul Steve Wynn. Wynn came up with the “Tunnel Project” which was a plan to connect a $330 million tunnel from the Atlantic City Expressway to the Marina District of Atlantic City where he was planning to build a new casino called Le Jardin. Le Jardin was eventually scrapped when Donald Trump sued Wynn claiming that the new tunnel would just be funneling customers to his new casino.

Despite Le Jardin being scrapped, the Tunnel Project carried on. Boyd Gaming and MGM Mirage teamed up and built the Borgata. The Borgata opened their door on July 2, 2003 and was an instant success. In 2005, the Borgata underwent a $200 million expansion and later opened a second tower hotel called The Water Club.
In 2016, Boyd gaming sold their 50% ownership to MGM, and now MGM are the sole owners of the Borgata. The Borgata has 161,000 sq ft of gaming space, featuring 180 table games and an 85 table poker room. Borgata opened their temporary sportsbook in June 2018, making them the first casino to start accepting sports bets in the state of New Jersey. Borgata also has other options for betting in New Jersey, including the ability to bet on sports online.
