Despite not having a land-based casino in Pennsylvania, one of the most familiar names in the gambling world, MGM, was able to stake their claim in the PA online poker market via qualified gaming entity licenses. When several online gambling licenses laid unclaimed, the PGCB opened the door for outsiders to get in on the action, and MGM took advantage of the opportunity scooping up the trifecta, online casino, online sports betting, and of course, online poker.

Land-Based Poker with MGM
MGM does not have a land-based poker room in Pennsylvania, but operates one of the premier poker rooms in the country at Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 21,500 square foot, 85 table poker room is widely regarded as the unrivaled champion of the east coast poker scene. Offering 24/7 poker action ranging from low stakes to nose bleed level games showcasing the widest selection of poker games including No Limit Hold’em, Pot Limit Omaha, Stud games, mixed games and some of the best tournament action in the world.
PlayMGM should be using the same GVC poker platform employed by their New Jersey online poker room. This downloadable client will be available for both PC and Mac users along with apps available for iOS (eventually) and Android devices.
PlayMGM clients in New Jersey have a fully customizable player experience that allows players to pick their table appearance, cards and for multi-tablers, the ability to automatically tile or layer their tables.
With an expected full offering of cash games, MTTs, sit and go tournaments and a large selection of hold’em and mixed games, there will be something for everyone.
PlayMGM poker will offer apps for smartphones and tablets, giving poker players even more options to join in on the action. There will be a slight delay on iOS powered devices due to new regulations on Apple coding, but android apps will be available on day one of launch.
While banking options have not been confirmed, we expect online poker players should have plenty of deposit options including but not limited to
- 7-11 PayNearMe
Withdrawal options are slightly more limited due to not being able to cash out to your credit card or 7-11 PayNearMe. All other deposit options should be available but will need to be approved by PlayMGM customer service which could take up to 72 hours.
No Limit Texas Hold’em is the most popular game available, but PlayMGM will offer Pot Limit Omaha and a ton of other fun and exciting mixed games as well.
Some of the available options should include but not limited to:
- Limit Hold’em
- Seven Card Stud
- Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo
- Omaha Hi-Lo
- Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo
