  1. It’s a New Year and with it comes a new season for the popular 888poker LIVE series. The online site has announced all the locations (and most of the dates) that it will be bringing its very own live tournament experience in 2018. All of the action begins on February 8 when 888poker Live returns to London’s Aspers Casino. The Kick-off Event features a €440 buy-in Main Event with four starting flights and heaps of satellites to help you get into the tournament for less. The London events are some of the most popular on the schedule with many of the 888poker Ambassadors attending. "I look forward to going back to London. I definitely look forward to playing in some of the juicy live cash games there," said 888poker Ambassador Dominik Nitsche. The line-up of Team 888, including the newly signed former World Champ Martin Jacobson, will likely be in attendance to many of the scheduled events not only to provide a warm welcome for players but to put would-be champions to the test. You don’t have to wait long after London before jumping right back in as you can follow the 888poker team to the Marriot Hotel in Bucharest, Romania on February 28. They are offering up a two-day €220 tournament that features a €50,000 guaranteed prize pool as well as a package to the future 888poker LIVE Local London event for the eventual winner. Then, just before the start of summer, 888poker LIVE visits the beautiful Barcelona for a festival at Casino Barcelona from May 23 through June 4. Last year, the tournament drew 609 runners and generated a prize pool of over €584,000. In September the crew makes its way once again to South America for 888poker LIVE in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The location and date have yet to be announced but you can be certain that poker fans in Brazil will be eagerly anticipating the stop with Haroldo Ferriera de Silva, the 2017 888poker LIVE Sao Paulo champion, looking to defend his title. As the year begins to wind down the tour hits their home base of the Aspers Casino for the final time on November 23 through December 2. Last year, this was the event that was the debut of the tour’s use of a shot clock. The integration was so well received, it will now be used in all of the tour’s Main Events as well as the High Rollers. Finally, players get to open a holiday gift early by booking their trip to Lisbon, Portugal for the final event of the calendar year on December 11-16 with the locations yet to be announced. In addition to the six 888poker LIVE events, the online site is a sponsor of both the World Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker. The brand will have a presence at the WPT500 event taking place at London’s Aspers Casino on April 1 as well as their own signature event during World Series of Poker, Event #62: $888 Crazy Eights - the four-flight, unlimited re-entry, 8-max tournament that guarantees a first place prize of $888,888. Additionally, 888poker is a main sponsor of the WSOP Main Event once again. The fun begins in London on February 8, but players can qualify for both the London and the Bucharest Main Events right now, online in the Live Events tab on the 888poker client.
  2. 888poker brings a stellar promotion to the 2018 World Series of Poker through their global team of ambassadors. By earning points in tournaments on 888poker.com, players have the chance to play in the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event with one of six teams represented by an 888poker ambassadors and their respective country. Each team is represented by a captain, a wingman, and a qualifier. In 2017, Joao Sousa Monteiro from Team Brazil emerged victorious by virtue of his 583rd place worth $22,449. Monteiro qualified via a $30 satellite and by doing so, earned himself a free seat to the 2018 Main Event. The wingmen will be selected before the contest ends on June 4. This year, all players will have the opportunity to earn points for their respective teams with the highest scoring team all earning a free 2019 WSOP Main Event seat. There were five teams in 2017 and the free Main Event seat went to the qualifier that went the deepest. The growth of the 888poker brand over the last year has meant for another country being added o the 8-team competition. The newest addition to the challenge this year is team Spain, which brings WSOP Europe Main Event champion Marti Roca as captain. The countries at play this year are as follows with each team captain in parenthesis: Great Britain (Chris Moorman) Brazil (Vivian Saliba) Germany (Dominik Nitsche) Canada (Parker 'Tonkaaaa' Talbot) Sweden (Martin Jacobson) Spain (Marti Roca) Teams earn points each day in the World Series of Poker Main Event for advancing along with a potential chip lead bonus. 3. Poker players in Bucharest have spent the past week living it up as the latest 888poker LIVE event rolled through town. Things wrapped up on Monday with local player Andrei Racolta taking down the Main Event for €71,042 ($87,628 US) and his first career live win. Racolta started heads-up play with a 6-1 lead over Krzysztof Chmielowski and needed just 35 minutes to wrap things up. The final hand saw Chmielowski move all in with [jd][2d] and Racolta called with [as][8c] and watched the [kd][qh][6h][kh][qc] runout give him the win. Chmielowski, who hails from Poland, qualified on 888poker in a $109 satellite and and turned that into a runner-up score of €44,000 ($54,275 US). Seven of the final nine players were from Romania including third place finisher Marian Strachinescu. The only other non-Romanian player at the final table was fourth place finisher Sinisa Radovanovic. Catalin Pop, who has won two previous 888poker LIVE events, came close to another one, finishing fifth. The event drew 469 entries, each paying the €888 buy-in to generate a prize pool of €360,192. The next 888poker LIVE stop goes May 23 - June 4 in Barcelona, Spain and online qualifiers are running now starting at $0.01. 4. With the euphoric feeling of a successful Kick-Off event in London still lingering, 888poker LIVE is wasting no time in taking the tour on the road. The next stop for the popular tournament series is the beautiful city of Bucharest, Romania at the JW Marriott Hotel. 888poker LIVE will be bringing a nine-tournament festival headlined by a €888 Main Event that comes with a €288,000 guarantee (~ $350,000 USD) all beginning on February 28. Something For Everyone A well-planned poker festival should always have a little something for everyone and 888poker LIVE Bucharest has attempted to do just that. Over the course of a week organizers will be offering a multi-day €230 Opening Event with a €50,000 guarantee, a €2,200 High Roller, a Ladies Event as well as a Turbo, Bounty and Deepstack tournaments with buy-ins beginning at a modest €100. While there are plenty of tournaments to choose from the organizers will be looking for the €888 Main Event to be the centerpiece of the week. The tournament has two starting day, with Day 1A taking flight on March 2 and the contest starts players off with 30,000 in chips and 45-minute levels. Confident that they will hit the 325 players needed to hit the guarantee, organizers are certainly hoping that they will eclipse that number. Also of note, the 888poker Shot Clock will be in play during the Main Event, helping speed up the rate of play, by giving players 30 seconds to make decisions. The winner of the Main Event will not only take home the handsome first place prize and the 888poker LIVE trophy but also a trip to Las Vegas to represent the brand at the World Series of Poker in their signature Crazy Eights tournament. Destination Bucharest When not in a hand, Bucharest is one of the more interesting poker destinations on the 888poker LIVE schedule. The capital of Romania, the city has been known as “The Little Paris” and today is a mix of stunning old world buildings and new modern facelift creating a city that is begging to be explored. From the Arch of Triumph to the Palace of the Parliament to a long list of museums, should players find with some free time, the city of Bucharest may help to ease the pain of busting. Qualify Online Today Satellites for the Bucharest Main Event are running right now over on 888poker. Starting at as little as $0.01 - that’s right one penny - players can work their way up through the steps and into the $109 satellite. Winners of the $109 satellite will receive a prize package worth $1,700 that includes a seat in the Main Event, three nights stay at the JW Marriot and an extra $300 to help pay for travel expenses. 888poker LIVE Bucharest takes place from February 28 - March 5 with qualifiers to the Main Event running everyday over on 888poker.
  5. The new season of 888poker’s LIVE tour kicked off with the 2018 Kick-Off Event at London’s Aspers Casino on February 8. The £440 buy-in Main Event carried a £120,000 guarantee but when 366 runners showed up, creating 547 total entries, during the four starting flights the guarantee was smashed creating a prize pool of over £216,000. The field was packed with some of the UK’s top talent as well as a number of 888poker ambassadors, including Sofia Lovgren, Natalie Hof, Vivian Saliba, Dominik Nitsche and online poker legend Chris 'moorman1' Moorman. But it was local UK grinder Jonathan Bowers ended up taking down the first event of the year, taking home the trophy and the £30,630 first place prize. The victory comes just four months after Bowers finished as the runner-up in October’s 888Live London Festival £2,200 High Roller. Bowers secured the top spot after the final four players battled it out for hours, attempting to eliminate a player. According to the 888poker blog, with over £100,000 left in the prize pool and the tournament pushing very late into the night the remaining four worked out a deal that gave chipleader Bowers the victory. Local player James Simms officially took second with a career-high cash of 28,460. France’s Eric Le Goff finished in third for 24,068 pushing him close to $300,000 in lifetime earnings. The final player in the chop was Ali Sakallioglu from the UK who also celebrated a career-best cash by taking home 23,280. In addition to the top 54 players earning a minimum of £975.00, organizers extended the payouts giving places 55-63 a seat to forthcoming World Poker Tour WPT500 event taking place at multiple Aspers Casinos beginning on March 23. Moorman Cashes In During the course of the Main Event, 888poker also held their LIVE Celebrity cash game featuring 888poker ambassadors Chris Moorman and Vivian Saliba. Joining them were a slate of local players, as well as Beth Cape and longtime poker broadcaster David Tuchman. The stakes were low enough to not get too serious - 2/5 with a mandatory 10 straddle. To spice things up, the players added the well-known seven-deuce game to keep things interesting. In the end, Moorman did what he does best, swallowed up the most amount of chips - walking away as the big winner. Next up for the 888Live tour is a stop in Bucharest, Romania at the JW Marriot Hotel beginning on February 28. The 888 Main Event comes with a €288,000 guarantee and a total of nine events. Qualifiers for the 888poker LIVE Bucharest Main Event are running now on 888poker.
  6. 888poker LIVE’s 12-day festival in Barcelona, Spain came to a conclusion on Monday when Romania’s Adrian Costin Constantin closed out a win in the Main Event for €114,025 and the title of 888poker LIVE Barcelona Champion. For nearly two weeks, the on-the-felt action was fast-paced at Casino Barcelona. Big crowds and 888poker superstars like Parker ‘tonkaaaa’ Talbot, Sofia Lovgren and Vivian Saliba were all on hand. The 2018 PCA Main Event winner Maria Lampropulos even took down the €2,200 High Roller in the middle of the week for €63,000. After the 13 of the prelims played out to their respective winners all eyes were focused on the final table of the €1,100 Main Event and its €500,000 guarantee. Players flocked to the tournament with 709 total entries total spanning three starting days. The result generated a prize pool that annihilated the guarantee. A total of €709,000 were up for grabs with a six-figure first place prize promised to the winner. When the final nine drew for seats at the final table, Spain’s Joel Isla held a fairly commanding chip lead with Constantin firmly second in chips. Isla got busy early, taking out Poland’s Tomasz Aleksander Chmiel when Chmiel’s pocket eights jammed into Isla’s two kings. Chimel walked with €9,530 for ninth place, adding to this over $200,000 of lifetime poker earnings. As Isla continued to roll, building a massive chip lead, Constantin got busy breaking down the final table as well. Sirgiu Sirbu from Romania shoved his short stack with a suited [poker card="ac"][poker card="4c"] into the [poker card="kd"][poker card="jd"] of Constantin. After a clean flop, the [poker card="js"] dropped on the turn, leaving Sirbu with three outs. The blank river sent Sirbu to the payout desk to collect €12,250 for eighth place. Right behind Sirbu came the elimination of Italy’s Luigi Andrea Shehadeh. Shehadeh, who took this very event down one year ago, faced a small blind shove from Isla. He made the call holding [poker card="ah"][poker card="5s"] but Isla wasn’t as light as he’d hoped. Isla tabled the [poker card="ad"][poker card="jc"] and had the former champ dominated. The board ran out with neither players able to connect and Isla added to his chip surge. Shehadeh added €16,350 to his bankroll for seventh. Constantin claimed another victim when he picked off the short stack shove with [poker card="as"][poker card="jh"] of Oscar Casado Diaz. Constantin held [poker card="ad"][poker card="ks"] and although both paired their ace on the river, kickers played. The local Spaniard Diaz collected €22,150 for his sixth-place efforts. After a short break, the final five returned to play down to a winner. Isla, who had been holding a commanding chip lead all day, finally lost a big pot when Manuel Navarro Perez doubled through him. The action heated up and after that, the chip stacks evened out making it anybody’s tournament to win. Italy’s Corrado Martinelli fell in fifth for €27,200 and quickly following him out of the tournament was Romania’s Cosmic Rusu. Russ collected €38,200 for what is essentially his only real recorded cash to date. Then the final three players began to mix it up. Constantin fell into third after Perez, once again, found a double. Isla and Perez demonstrated a willingness to gamble when they played for one of the biggest pots of the tournament. Perez opened with [poker card="kc"][poker card="jh"] which invited Isla to three-bet with [poker card="9s"][poker card="9d"]. Perez put in a four-bet, Isla jammed, Perez tank called and the next thing you know - the pair are flipping for a massive chip lead. The board ran out all baby cards, giving Isla back his chip lead and putting Perez back at the bottom of the chip counts. Perez was out of the tournament 10 minutes later for €55,800. Unable to come to a deal during a break, began heads-up play with Isla holding a 3:1 chip lead. Constantin battled back and the passed chips, and the lead, back and forth for over an hour. Eventually, Constantin had Isla on the ropes with a 4:1 chip lead. However, during what would be the last break, the pair agreed to a deal. Both of them would walk with €114,025 and play for the trophy. The pair sat back down at the table and roughly 15 minutes later, Constantin’s shut the door on Isla and earned the right to be called 2018 888poker Barcelona Main Event Champion in a career-defining victory. 888poker LIVE can be seen around the halls of the the Rio in Las Vegas as an official sponsor of the World Series of Poker. The branded $888 Crazy Eights tournament is set to take flight on June 30.

It was a 15-hour grind which saw Biavashi, who won his Main Event entry in a €100 satellite, overcome a short stack and eventually outlast an aggressive heads-up opponent in Kazakhstan’s Daniyar Aubakirov to take home the trophy. [ptable zone="Global Poker Article Ad"][ptable zone="GG Poker"][ptable zone="Party Poker NJ"] Players had already played nearly nine hours on Day 3 before 2016 WSOP Main Event final table participant Fernando Pons was eliminated in tenth place, just missing out on the final table. After a break, the final nine drew for seats and got to the business of determining a champion. By this point in the tournament, the stacks were shallow with the chip leader holding just 32 big blinds. The bustouts got started when Spain’s Ruben de Pedro shipped his short stack holding [poker card="as"][poker card="5s"] only to be looked up by fellow Spaniard Miguel Tejero’s [poker card="qs"][poker card="qd"] in the big blind. The [poker card="7s"][poker card="7d"][poker card="4c"][poker card="9h"][poker card="4d"] board ran out clean for pocket queens and de Pedro hit the rail in ninth place for €11,200. Despite an abundance of short stacks, play dragged on with the next elimination coming nearly two hours after the first. Israel’s Ran Shahar, who entered the final table with a top three stack, got involved in a big hand with Spain’s David Gonzalez Delgado where his second pair-top kicker fell to a gutshot straight on the river. Shahar settled for a €14,000 payday for eighth place. Minutes later Shahar’s countryman Gilad Yam-Hod followed him to the cage. After Daniyar Aubakirov put in a raise, Yam-Hod three-bet shipped his stack with the [poker card="7d"][poker card="6d"] only to be called by Aubakirov’s [poker card="ts"][poker card="tc"]. The board provided little drama as it came [poker card="ah"][poker card="kd"][poker card="jh"][poker card="kh"][poker card="td"], giving Aubakirov a full house. Yam-Hod picked up €18,000 for seventh place. Now, the eliminations came a little more quickly. Marco D’Amico moved all-in with his short stack holding [poker card="qs"][poker card="qd"] and was called in the big blind by Delgado and his [poker card="9h"][poker card="9c"]. Although D’Amico was in great shape to double-up, the cards did not cooperate as the board ran out [poker card="tc"][poker card="8h"][poker card="4c"][poker card="6h"][poker card="7s"] giving Delgado a runner-runner straight and eliminating D’Amico in sixth place for €24,000. A big pot took place on the very next hand when Aubakirov raised from the cutoff with [poker card="6h"][poker card="6d"] only to be shoved on by Tejero and his [poker card="ad"][poker card="jc"]. After getting a count, Aubakirov kept up his aggression and made the call leaving Tejero to flip for his tournament life. The board ran out [poker card="9d"][poker card="8c"][poker card="3h"][poker card="tc"][poker card="th"], providing Tejero no help and sending to collect his €32,000 for his fifth-place run. At this point Aubakirov was stacking chips and building a massive lead. He had well over 50% of the chips in play when Biavaschi finally eliminated his first opponent of the final table. Spain’s Pablo Paez picked a spot and shipped his eight big blind stack in the middle with [poker card="ts"][poker card="9s"]. From the small blind Biavaschi made the call holding [poker card="kc"][poker card="qs"]. The [poker card="4s"][poker card="4d"][poker card="3h"][poker card="4c"][poker card="5d"] board provided no help to either player which meant that Biavaschi took the hand with king-high and Paez’s deep run ended in fourth place for €45,000. Less than ten minutes later Delgado couldn’t hold on any longer. Three-handed, he moved in his short stack from the button with [poker card="9c"][poker card="7h"] only to be called in the big blind by Aubakirov and his [poker card="td"][poker card="8c"]. Aubakirov spiked middle pair on the [poker card="kd"][poker card="th"][poker card="2s"]. The [poker card="8s"] turn gave Aubakirov two pair but also gave Delgado life to an open-ended straight draw. However, the [poker card="2c"] was a brick and David Gonzalez Delgado fell in third place for €70,000. Despite starting at a chip deficit when heads-up play began, Biavashi closed the gap and eventually picked up a number of big hands in a row to take the lead. At one point it looked like Biavashi had the tournament won, he even began to celebrate a little, but Aubakirov found a double and continued to play tough. Eventually, with Aubakirov very short, Biavashi finished the job. Aubakirov made his stand with [poker card="kc"][poker card="2h"] and was called by Biavashi holding [poker card="qc"][poker card="td"]. The flop came [poker card="qh"][poker card="tc"][poker card="8c"] giving Biavashi two pair and Aubakirov some back door possibilities. The [poker card="2d"] hit the turn, giving Aubakirov some new outs but the [poker card="5d"] river closed the door. Aubakirov finished at the runner-up, booking a €105,000 score. After winning his way into the tournament on a €100 satellite, Marco Biavaschi was crowned the 2020 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event winner, earning €150,000 and a trip to Las Vegas to play in the 2020 World Series of Poker worth $12,500. 888poker LIVE Madrid Main Event Final Table 1.
