  1. [caption width="640"] Finnish players have quietly put up great online results over the years.[/caption] Long gone are the days of Finland being in charge of all things online and live poker. The face of poker there, Patrik Antonius, stays below the radar these days and Fins making WSOP final tables are few and far between. The online presence remains healthy although the nation has taken a backseat to neighboring Sweden. The top-10 online rankings for Finland feature bright newcomers and grizzled veterans still crushing after all these years. At the top is ‘European,’ who had their breakout performance during the 2016 PokerStars WCOOP. ‘European’ notched a win in the WCOOP Super Tuesday and finished third in the $10,000 8-Max High Roller. Doing well in big buy-in events continues to be a trend for ‘European’ as they final tabled the 2017 SCOOP Main Event and recently took second place in the PokerStars High Roller Series $10,300 Progressive KO event for $110,281. ‘emeriaa’ tags in at the second position. In recent weeks, ‘emeriaa’ has had two results over 200 PLB points. On November 26, they finished fourth in the PokerStars Sunday High Roller for 241.57 points and two days later, they followed that performance up with a second-place result in the Sunday 500, adding 214.29 more. Filing in at #3 is Olli ‘OgSulttaani’ Ikonen. In the middle of November, Ikonen added to his over $5.3 million in online earnings by winning the PokerStars Fast Friday and took third in the Bounty Builder High Roller. The two results were worth over $17,000 to Ikonen. Right behind Ikonen by less than 40 points is ‘imsdurnk.’ This player ended the High Roller series on a high note by placing sixth in the $250,000 guaranteed Wrap Up for over $18,000 on December 6. Two days later, ‘imsdurnk’ made a run in the partypoker MILLIONS online event, placing 34th and earning 273.14 PLB points. ‘ketsemon’ made a splash on December 14 by winning the Hot $215. A few weeks prior to then, ‘ketsemon’ cashed fives times in the High Roller series and won the $2,100 Progressive KO Turbo MTT for 575.33 points along with $62,270. In sixth place is online legend Sami ‘LarsLuzak’ Kelopuro. A staple of the nosebleed world for almost 10 years, Kelopuro still plays online tournaments on occasion. Kelopuro primarily plays High Roller events with his last big run coming in the partypoker $50,000 guaranteed Super High Roller on November 26 for 175.47 points. Neck-and-neck for places #7 and #8 are‘sape89’ and ‘totaloser.’ Both are right above the 3,000 PLB point mark The last five-figure score for ‘sape89’ came on November 5 in the Sunday High Roller. For ‘totaloser,’ they took fourth in the partypoker Title Fight $500,000 guaranteed for $25,5250. ‘Fickle’ had a positive Sunday on December 17 with a bronze medal in the Sunday Cooldown for 177.54 points and $9,804. As volatile as rankings can be, ‘Fickle’ is less than 100 points from jumping up from #9 to #7. Closing out the top-10 is ‘gifuhorna.’ Standing in with over $3.2 million in earnings, ‘gifuhorna’ is playing lower stakes events these days perhaps awaiting the next big score. 2. The name at the top of the PocketFives Rankings has not changed at all in 2018, but one of the game's best online tournament players just put together a week of big scores that could change all of that very soon. 'European' jumped from #8 to #3 after a week that saw him win two PokerStars Turbo Series events as well as the PokerStars Sunday High Roller for just over $152,000 in earnings and 1,525 PLB points. He also picked up 246 other points and now sits 1,770.95 points behind #1-ranked 'C Darwin2'. 'C Darwin2' didn't just rest on his laurels this past week though. The Swedish grinder won a partypoker KO Series event for $18,928 and 333.17 points and a PokerStars Daily 500 for $12,932 and 242.9 points. He took over the #1 spot on December 30, 2017 and has maintained a PLB score over 10,000 the entire time. #2-ranked 'lena900' seemed did everything he could to catch 'C Darwin2' this past week. He won a partypoker KO Series event, a PokerStars Turbo Series event and PokerStars Daily 500 to add 1,535.72 points to his total. He's not 919.81 points behind 'C Darwin2' Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar moved into the top 10 this week after finishing runner-up in the PokerStars Sunday High Roller for $53,093 and 388.08 points and then won the 888poker $50,000 Volcano for $15,008 and 257.11 points. Another Swede also moved up into the top 10. 'Ariados' had three qualifying cashes this week, highlighted by a win in the PokerStars Turbo Series that added $63,468 to his earnings and 652.23 points. The only player to drop out of the top 10 was former #1-ranked Patrick 'pleno' Leonard. He fell from #9 to #16. There were no players who dropped out of the top 25 as the players simply shuffled positions from the previous week. 3. Once again, the top spot in the PocketFives.com Worldwide Rankings belongs to the super Swede ‘C Darwin2’. Though he slipped just beneath the 12,000 PLB point threshold that he’d been keeping for the past couple weeks, the phenom enjoys a lead of well over 2,000 PLB points from the next closest player. ‘C Darwin2’ continues to put the pressure on those who would look to catch him with a pair of qualifying cashes this week, both resulting in five-figure scores. This included a runner-up finish in Event #131 of Winamax’s W Series for $13,553 and 193.63 PLB points. Another reoccurring theme in recent weeks has been top-tier players taking their shot at dethroning ‘C Darwin2’ and this week it’s ‘hellohellohello’s turn. The Russian has ascended to the #2 ranking for the first time in his career after going on an absolute tear on April 8. He earned over $85,000 on that day alone, the bulk of it thanks to his victory in the bwin.com Super Sunday Super High Roller where he took home $48,750 and 387.30 PLB points. He also notched another pair of qualifying cashes helping him become the latest player that could conceivably make the steep climb to the #1 perch. Last week’s #2, Andres ‘probirs’ Nemeth, drops back to the #3 ranking this week mostly due to low volume. He was unable to record any qualifying cashes and so he slips from his career-high ranking but remains a mere 188.13 points behind ‘hellohellohello’. Sweden’s ‘lena900’ also took a small step backward as he also had but a single qualifying PLB cash this week. A final table finish in the $2,100 Sunday High Roller on PokerStars resulted in a $15,592 score and 170.27 PLB points. That result also helped ‘lena900’ cross $9.5 million in lifetime earnings and with some huge online series coming up in the next month, including PokerStars SCOOP and partypoker’s POWERFEST, he may find himself a member of the prestigious $10 million club sooner than later. Rounding out the top 5 this week is ‘European’, who maintains his same ranking from last week with the help of a final table finish in the PokerStars Bigger $215 for $3,213 and 110.79 PLB points. It should be noted that like Nemeth and ‘lena900’ just ahead of him in the rankings, ‘European’ maintains a PLB score of above 9000. Any one of these elite players could find themselves in the midst of a heater and rocket up the rankings to be the next player to challenge ‘C Darwin2’. The bottom half of the top 10 saw very little movement this week with both Steven ‘SvZff’ van Zadelhoff and Ramiro ‘Ramiro’ Petrone both holding fast in their respective #6 and #7 positions. While van Zadelhoff seemed to be taking a breather, Petrone put in work and recorded three qualifying PLB cashes. The three podium finished totaled nearly $25,000 in earnings for the Argentinan and has him in position to make another run back into the top five. Roman ‘Romeopro’ Romanovsky and Conor ‘1_conor_b_1’ Beresford swapped places with Romanovsky rising to the #8 rankings and Beresford slipping to #9. Beresford didn’t have any volume to speak of this week while Romanovsky took third place in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder Hight Roller for over $18,000 and 233.78 PLB points, enough to help him shift up this week. Johannes ‘Greenstone25’ Korsar completes the top 10 this week. The Swedish grinder with over $11 million in lifetime earnings, joined those would take their foot off the gas this week, likely preparing for the large volume series that are right around the corner. 4. How dominant is Swedish online poker pro 'C Darwin2' right now? Well, following a week where he picked up zero PLB points, he still leads the PocketFives Rankings by 2,637.71 points over his next closest competitor. He's now been the #1-ranked player in the world four 14 weeks and appears poised to put together the longest consecutive reign at #1 since Calvin 'cal42688' Anderson went 23 weeks uninterrupted from September 2012 through February 2013. That next closest competitor, Andres 'probirs' Nemeth, actually moved up from #3 to #2 this week after picking up 505.96 points after winning the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller. He also had two qualifying cashes on partypoker for an additional 243.11 points. Swapping places with Nemeth was Sweden's 'lena900'. His fall came even after he picked up three qualifying cashes for 658.33, highlighted by a win in the Winamax W Series PLO Championship for 268.49 points. There was only other move inside of the top 10 this past week as 'hellohellohello' and 'European' switched the #4 and #5 positions. In fact, there was very little movement inside of the top 25 at all. The only player to work their way back into the top 25 was 'rolandbauer'. The Austrian went from #29 to #22 cashed just six times, but three of them were qualifying cashes. He finished second in the partypoker Sunday Bounty Hunter for 300.89 points, seventh in the partypoker Super Sunday Main Event for 220 points and then fourth in the PokerStars Big $109 on Sunday for 98.01 points. Pim 'joppiesaus' de Goede fell out of the top 25, landing at #26. 5. It’s another week atop the PocketFives.com Worldwide Rankings for the Swedish phenom ‘C Darwin2’, who has been the only #1-ranked player in all of 2018. What makes the past week so impressive is he has crossed the 12,000 PLB point barrier, touching a new high in 2018 of 12,222.54. He racked up the PLB points thanks to a pair of big money finishes this week. The first was a final table appearance in Event #23 of the PokerStars High Roller series for $81,523 and 557.24 PLB points. On the same day, he notched a runner-up finish in the partypoker Sunday Major Super High Roller for another $56,000/373.21. The Swede has been so prolific as of late, he finds himself just over $100,000 from his next major milestone - $9 million in lifetime earnings. He surpassed $8 million as recently as late February 2018. At this pace, he may see that number as soon as next week. While ‘lena900’ continues to sit comfortably in the #2 ranking, he now has a 2,687.67 point deficit to make up should he want to make another run at the top spot. Andres ‘probirs’ Nemeth jumped three spots back up to #3 on the heels of a week that saw him earn over $100,000. The bulk of his winning came in Event #19 the PokerStars High Rollers Series for $57,524/330.82 and he followed that up finishing in third place, right behind ‘C Darwin2’, in the partypoker Sunday Major Super High Roller for $40,000/292.62. ‘European’ remained in the #4 spot as Russia’s ‘hellohellohello’ rose two spots to #5 after a pair of qualifying cashes on bwin.com. Malta’s Steven ‘SvZff’ van Zadelhoff slipped three spots to land at #6 this week. The slip certainly wasn't due to light volume as the popular online grinder was very active this week. He enjoyed four different qualifying cashes this week, including a victory in the bwin.com 6-Max Turbo for $3,985/126.49. Ramiro ‘Ramiro’ Petrone also took a step back this week, sliding into the #7 spot on light volume. There was no movement in the lower three spots of the top 10 from last week as Conor '1_conor_b_1' Beresford (#8), Roman 'Romeopro' Romanovsky (#9) and Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar (#10) all held firm in their respective standings. Other notable Top 25 moves: Conor ‘blanconegro’ Drinan rejoined the top 25, jumping up to the #17 rank from a previous rank of #38. He found himself cashing in five straight PokerStars High Rollers events including a fourth-place finish in Event #23 for over $156,000 and 710.71 PLB points. Jonathan ‘proudflop’ Proudfoot was the only player to drop out of the Top 25 this week, but the UK pro sits just outside the bubble, falling to #26. 6. If you follow the PocketFives.com Worldwide Rankings at all in 2018 then you know the story. This week it’s more of the same as the Swedish crusher ‘C Darwin2’ continues his reign as the only player to occupy the #1 spot in all of 2018. ‘C Darwin2’ locked himself up three qualifying cashes and a pair of five-figure scores this week. But when he took first place in the PokerStars Daily 500 for $16,064 he did something less than 20 players in the history of online poker have done before. He surpassed $9 million in lifetime earnings. What is even more amazing is the speed with which he did it. He sprinted through his last million in earnings having achieved $8 million in earnings less than two months ago. He’s one of two Swedish players to eclipse that mark this week and he’s only the 18th player to ever do so. For the second week in a row Russia’s ‘hellohellohello’ holds down the #2 spot in the rankings. He does this despite putting in very low volume and not bringing in any new PLB points. Nevertheless, thanks to his massive scores the week before, his PLB score edged slightly closer to the 10,000 PLB mark. Sweden’s ‘lena900’ and Andres ‘probirs’ Nemeth swapped places in the rankings again this week. ‘lena900’, locking up the #3 rank, put together another stellar week at the tables and boosted his PLB scores with a trio of victories. This included a victory in the PokerStars $55 Sunday Marathon for $18,178 where he ended up besting PokerStars Team Online Pro Lex Veldhuis to take it down. His impressive week brought him four five-figure scores and places him just over 200 points away from re-taking the #2 spot in the rankings. Nemeth, on the other hand, continues his break from the online grind, resulting in his slipping to the #4 rank. The middle of the top 10 rankings remains the same this week as ‘European’ (#5), Steven ‘SvZff’ van Zadelhoff (#6) and Ramiro ‘Ramiro’ Petrone (#7) all hold their ground. Petrone managed the largest score of the three grinders this week when he took down the partypoker $200K Super Sunday Main Event to add over $28,000 to his bankroll. Sweden’s ‘Ariados’ jumps into the top 10 this week, coming in at #8. Earlier we had mentioned ‘C Darwin2’s $9 million achievement, well, his fellow countryman ‘Ariados’ pulled off the same feat in the same week. 'Ariados', just two days before the #1-ranked player, finished as the runner-up in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller to earn over $33,000 and put him up over the $9 million mark, becoming the 17th player in history to do so. Then to pad his earnings, he ended up winning the PokerStars €250 Sunday High Roller for an extra $14,880 on the same day. Roman ‘Romeopro’ Romanovsky yielded one place, slipping to #9 this week and the UK's Conor '1_conor_b_1' Beresford wraps up the top 10 this week.
