  2. [caption width="640"] A closer look at the current crop of Germany's online elite players[/caption] Over the better part of the last decade, Germany has emerged as a literal breeding ground for poker players of the highest caliber. From their dominance in all things High Roller, including, most recently Steffen Sontheimer’s Poker Masters victory, to producing some of the most recognized names in the game like Fedor Holz, Rainer Kepme, and 2017 Super High Roller Bowl winner Christoph Vogelsang. This excellence is not limited to the live arena as German players can be found crushing in every area of the online landscape. With that in mind, here is a closer look at the current Top 10 of the German Online Poker Rankings. Sitting atop the German leaderboard is current Top 20-ranked Worldwide online professional 'nilsef'. 'nilsef', the child chess player turned online phenom, is a two-time World Championship of Online Poker winner with over $5.7 million in lifetime earnings. His recent results were bolstered by multiple deep runs during PokerStars' 2017 WCOOP including his largest score of over $80,000 for his fourth place finish in Event #26 High ($1,050 Sunday Warm-Up). In fact, during the September series, 'nilsef' cashed 38 times between the High and Low events and found himself at five final tables while he also bubbled a sixth. When it comes to the German Top 10, there's a wide gap between first and second place - nearly 3,000 PLB points – but the emerging talent of 'SmilleThHero' is looking to close the distance. 'SmilleThHero' had a monster few days in September during the partypoker Powerfest with a victory in Event #210 ($75,000 Freezeout) for over $16,000, a career-high score for the grinder, and two additional four-figure scores in the next 24 hours. Germany's current #3-ranked player is currently enjoying the peak of his online career. Sitting as a top-300 Worldwide ranked player, 'gopu' is rapidly approaching $1.5 million in lifetime earnings. His recent steady stream of recent cashes have been highlighted by a pair of $15,000 scores. The first was an outright victory in the PokerStars Hot $215 and the follow-up was in the 2017 WCOOP Main Event ($5,200 $10M GTD NLHE). Well-known tournament crusher Phillipp 'philbort' Gruissem is currently ranked #4 in his homeland. Gruissem, who also sits in the Top 50 on the Hendon Mob's All-Time Money List, overpowered the competition as he took the title in WCOOP Event #45 High ($215+R Six Max NLHE) for over $75,000, pushing his lifetime online earnings up over $3.5 million. That was just one of three paydays of over $25,000 over the past three weeks, one of which came on the first day of October with his runner-up finish in the PokerStars $700 Super-Sized Sunday Progressive KO for $29,137.80. Munster's 'T0X16' finds himself in Germany's top-five after capturing a monster career-high score of $71,584 when he finished in second place during partypoker's Powerfest Event #223 ($500K Guaranteed Two-Day Event). The cash, along with a pair of low five-figure scores in the month prior, has elevated 'T0X16' into the top 300 in the Worldwide rankings, where he currently sits at #288. Right behind 'T0X16' is one of the most popular German players on the planet, 888poker ambassador and regular high-roller, Dominik 'bounatirouIMO' Nitsche. At #7, 'Grozzorg' eclipsed $500,000 in lifetime earnings.'Polecatrider' (#8), former #11-ranked Worldwide grinder Jonas 'Jownz' Lauck (#9) and 'staanemer' complete the current crop of top online German players. 3. This week's Sunday online action saw wins for both Philipp Gruissem and Anatoly Filatov, who scored a double on partypoker, as well as a first PokerStars Sunday Million title for 'behindme93'. Romania's 'behindme93' took this week's PokerStars Sunday Million title and recorded their biggest online cash to date following a heads-up deal with 'gettingpwned.' The Sunday Million's 5,397 entrants, created a $1,079,400 prize pool and after the UK's Luke 'LFMagic' Fields fell in fourth place for $50,402, two-time Sunday Million champion 'veeea' just missed out on a chance to make it three after exiting with the bronze medal for $71,822. The final two struck a money deal before the heads-up action underway and it was to be 'behindme93' who went the distance and claimed $131,018 with 'gettingpwned' banking $117,170 as runner-up. 'prebz' came through a 106 entrants field in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller to claim victory after a deal was made with 'Ssick_OnE' and 'nailuj90'. The final agreed to a money deal before 'nailuj90' exited with the bronze medal for $36,461. 'prebz' then eliminated 'Ssick_OnE' into second place for $35,826, with the former taking the win alongside $40,354. Gruissem won the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for a combined score worth over $67,000. 'APonakov' took second place from the 901 player field for $26,900.27 + $3,988.29 with '4xfingers' taking away $19,521.51 + $9,082.51 in third. Filatov, a partypoker ambassador, won the partypoker $530 Sunday Main Event for $20,491 after a heads-up battle with 'Graftekkel.' The $100,000 guarantee was just surpassed with 201 entrants taking part and once the final table action got underway and the field was further reduced 'Sponix92' took third place for $10,602. That left Filatov to continue further his impressive form on both the live and online felt after he discarded of 'Graftekkel' who banked $14,874 as runner-up, with the Russian taking the first-place prize. Filatov also claimed victory in the partypoker $1,050 Sunday Bounty Hunter High Roller for just over $52,900 after he came through a 186 player field and defeated 'x_zola25' heads-up. 'MOTHERSMATTERS' banked $57,000 after winning the partypoker $2,500 Super Sunday High Roller. The final table featured the likes of 'bencb789' and partypoker ambassador Joao Simao who finished in 8th and 7th place respectively. 'j2805667' took the bronze medal for $27,000 before 'prebzzz' was the final player to depart and banked $39,000 in second place as 'MOTHERSMATTERS' took the win. Over on 888poker, 'HateH4teHate' won $26,600 for outlasting 75 other opponents in the $1,050 Whale event, while 'derharry69' banked $20,097 in the $215 Sunday Mega Deep after a heads-up victory over Sam 'Sammygrinder' Grafton who collected $14,887 as runner-up. 4. There seems to be little doubt now that the partypoker MILLIONS Online will reach the $20,000,000 guarantee. Now the focus becomes who walks away with the $2.5 million first place prize. On Monday, 707 players in the Day 1D starting flight pushed the total number of entrants to 3,877 just 123 players short of the 4,000 needed to meet the guarantee. Day 1E, a turbo flight, begins early Tuesday afternoon GMT. There were 104 players who managed to survive Day 1D with German grinder 'I am bored.' finishing the day with the biggest stack at 19,283,848. That puts 'I am bored.' right behind Day 1C chip leader Carlos ‘carlitos350’ Camargo with the seventh best stack through the first four starting flights. Ivan 'BanicIvan' Banic finished with the second-best Day 1D performance, moving 17,120,177 on to Day 2. Sam 'bestindabiz51' Panzica bagged up 8,331,309, good enough for the 31st best stack on Day 1D, while partypoker high roller crusher 'WWWpartyCOM' survived with 2,976,904. As the poker world watched the 2019 World Series of Poker final table get underway, the online poker scene was in the news as well; all be it for different reasons. partypoker saw their online schedule thrown into disarray after a software crash across the entire network that affected not only poker but also their sports and casino offerings. Despite the expected player grievances, Dusk Till Dawn owner & partypoker partner Rob Yong responded via Twitter and his forthrightness approach on the situation was met with all-around positivity. Yong stated the issues surrounding the software and said he would be happy to look into any complaints submitted. https://twitter.com/rob_yong_/status/1150524660922093568 Despite this, the online poker action did occur across multiple other clients, including PokerStars, 888poker, and GGPoker. Russia and Brazil dominated the PokerStars $109 Sunday Million, after players from these two nations occupied the top five places. The guarantee was once again defeated as 10,983 entrants created a $1,098,200 prize pool. Brazil's 'DigoLuiz', 'Galochina10' and 'JúlioFantin' took fifth, fourth and third place respectively, with 'JúlioFantin' awarded the biggest prize of the three for $59,353. The Russian duo of 'Jigan7' and 'kolobcheena' then agreed to a money-deal before the final battle commenced. 'Jigan7' was the unlucky last player to hit the rail and banked $85,742 for their share of the deal, as 'kolobcheena' was crowned this champion alongside $108,759. 'NoHayMiedo*' defeated Philipp 'philbort' Gruissem heads-up to win the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller. A field of just 47 entrants created a $94,000 prize pool with the top five places paid. 'SsicK_OnE' took fifth for $6,785, 'WushuTM' fourth for $10,360 and 'WhaTisL0v3' picked up the bronze for $15,819. An extra $12,000 was on the line in the final showdown, and it was German pro Gruissem who was unable to convert his deep run into victory and settled for $24,154 as runner-up, with 'NoHayMiedo*' banking $36,881 for the win. 'ezepoker90' added another $70,000 to their steller online CV after victory in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller. The former WCOOP champion came through a 782 player-field and a heads-up match against 'solanj' for the win. 'ameliaroy007' exited in third place for $17,753 + $7,089 in bounties, before 'solanj' was the final departure for $24,220 + $7,177. 'ezepoker90' picked up the gold and the final bounty prize for $33,043 + $37,535. Tomi 'elmerixx' Brouk won the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday Cooldown for $19,433 + $23,656 in bounties. 'geokrinikali' then fell at the final hurdle for $14,549 + $9,781 and Brouk added another gold medal to his profile. The $10k Sunday Blade once again returned to the GGPoker Sunday schedule after an absence and 'Chun Lei Zhou' picked up the win from a 23 player-field for $116,569. It was also a good day for 'emb3zzle' who secured gold and bronze medals in the Blades.
