  1. [caption width="640"] The partypoker Powerfest includes four weeks of tournaments[/caption] Not to be left behind by the recently concluded PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker, partypoker has announced its own major online tournament series. Dubbed Powerfest, the series will offer 98 events and a guaranteed prize pool of $5 million. The action begins on Sunday, February 21 and will culminate in the $1,050 Main Event on Sunday, March 20. Powerfest will take the place of the site’s popular annual Pokerfest, and will include Six Max, Turbo, Six Max Turbo and Bounty No Limit Hold'em events. The series offers a wide variety of tournaments suitable for players with bankrolls of any size, with buy-ins ranging from $5.50 to $5,200. “Our online poker festival, now named Powerfest, is an iconic partypoker event” said partypoker Group Head Tom Waters. “This is poker for the people no matter the size of your bankroll." After the success of its 2015 Pokerfest series, the online poker giant has doubled its guaranteed prize money this year. Last year’s 80 events easily met their $2.5 million total guarantee and awarded $3.4 million in prizes to winners. Power Series format Partypoker is taking a novel approach to this year’s events by syncing up Powerfest’s tournament structures with the Power Series format the iGaming giant introduced last November. The structure was created with partypoker brand ambassador and four-time World Champion Boxer Carl Froch in mind, and replaces the site’s Daily, Saturday and Sunday Majors. According to the new format, Powerfest will be broken down into four weeks, which will be categorized as either Featherweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight or Highroller. Each Sunday, a Main Event will close the week’s action and offer guarantees up to $500K. Partypoker has been heavily promoting its new boxing inspired tournament schedule as of late. The site delighted players earlier this month by awarding winners double the stated guarantees in a promo it calls Fight Night. The free cash giveaway continued in Fight Night Round 2, when the guarantees of the $5.50 buy-in Jab, the $22 Contender and the $109 Uppercut were all doubled. Tournament of Champions This year, partypoker has decided to do away with leaderboards in favor of running a Tournament of Champions-style contest. Win any of the series’ 98 events and you’ll receive an entry into the promo tourney, which guarantees tournament ticket prizes of $5.50 up to $530. The overall winner will enjoy a $5,000 Las Vegas prize package which includes the following: Entry into the WPT500 at Aria Five nights hotel accommodations for two $1,000 cash Dinner with poker legend Mike Sexton and a signed copy of his new book A pair of boxing gloves courtesy of Carl Froch Tournament of Champions winners belt "I love that partypoker are introducing the Tournament of Champions element into the new Powerfest," said Sexton. "This allows all the winners of each buy-in level to compete for their chance to win a memory of a lifetime. I look forward to hosting the winners in Vegas this summer." 2. [caption width="640"] Some of Sunday's biggest winners came from the conclusion of partypoker Powerfest.[/caption] While Sunday may have been all about the coming conclusion of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker, the rest of the Sunday Majors schedule featured a number of other bigger buy-in events with big fields. There were none bigger than the partypoker Powerfest which wrapped up with a Main Event and a High Roller, both of which resulted in six-figure scores for their respective winners. 'Ch4nsey' took down the $5,200 buy-in Powerfest Main Event on Sunday for $219,375 while 'DankMemes' was awarded $168,067 for finishing runner-up. Veteran PocketFives member Jeff 'YoungSupremacy' Hakim of Canada cashed for $118,125 upon placing third. The partypoker Powerfest Event #167 saw 'PCMPCM' come out on top for $168,055 after negotiating a heads-up deal with 'JDias99' of Portugal (2nd place for $162,613). 'ProLuckbox' collected $107,151 for third place in that tournament. 888 Poker concluded its Super XL series over the weekend with a $1,050 buy-in Main Event, won by 'Gr33nApples' for $183,869. Players 'BOLAGET.NU' and 'Vocaaas' of the Czech Republic got in on a three-way chop and walked away with $159,691 and $150,832 for their respective second and third place efforts. 'DEX888' took down the PokerStars Sunday Grand for $104,716 while former #1 ranked online tournament player Mike 'telks' Telker cashed for $76,309 in second place. The score is likely to move the Costa Rica resident back into the Top 25 Worldwide. The heads-up deal in the Stars Sunday Supersonic Six Max event involved 'Graftekkel' and 'GrindHeaps' -- who each received over $40,000 after outlasting more than 1,500 opponents. 3. The name on top of the PocketFives Rankings didn’t change this week, but there was plenty of movement in the top 10 behind ‘lena900’. Eight of the top 10 changed this week including two Swedes taking over the #2 and #3 spots. The first week of PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker and partypoker Powerfest had an impact on nearly every player and ‘lena900’ is no different. The Swedish grinder, who took over the #1 spot in mid-March, had three scores impact his overall PLB points total this past week. He finished 11th in SCOOP Event #6 ($1,050 Six Max NLHE) for $12,038 and 228.28 points on May 7 and then finished runner-up in the Powerfest Event #12 for $24,093 and 298.5 points the next day. He wrapped up his week by beating out 95 other players to win the PokerStars $320 Six Max NLHE event on May 9. He now sits 606.37 points ahead of his nearest competitor. Five qualifying cashes, including the second biggest points score of his career, moved ‘inhoo’ from #4 to #2 this week. He finished 24th in SCOOP Event 32 (High) for $3,745 and 128.56 points to start the week. Later that same day he finished fourth in SCOOP Event #6 (High) for $62,505/418.86. He then finished runner-up in Powerfest Event #38 for $9,945/159.57 on May 8. The next day he finished fifth in SCOOP Event #12 (Super Tuesday SE) for $68,992 and 451.77 points - the most he had earned since ….. “ His final qualifying cash of the week came in a PokerStars $109 Six Max Hyper Turbo where he finished runner-up for $4,718/127.01. This marks the highest ranking of his career. Not to be outdone, ‘Ariados’ posted an astonishing eight qualifying cashes to jump from #7 to #3. All told he added 1,944.35 points to his total and is now just 388.91 out of second place - which is his career high. 5. [caption width="640"] The 2017 Powerfest is the largest in history with ,000,000 in guaranteed prize pools up for grabs.[/caption] May is becoming one of the busiest months on the poker calendar and the announcement of the partypoker Powerfest schedule only solidifies that stranglehold. The series opens on May 7 and runs through May 21 with $20,000,000 in prizes guaranteed during the two-week long festival. Buy ins are available for as little as $5.50 with high roller events tipping the scales at a price point of $25,500. There are four main events for the series and six events with a guarantee of at least $1,000,000. The largest guarantee on the schedule belongs to the $25,500 event, which is a $2,000,000 guaranteed Super High Roller and is scheduled for May 17. In a great initiative from partypoker, the $500 entry fee from each player will go toward a charity of the winner’s choice. In addition, should the field reach 100 entries, partypoker will add in another $50,000 to the donation. The four main events are taking place on Sunday, May 21 with the following buy ins and guarantees: $11/$50,000, $55/$100,000, $215/$1,000,000, $1,050/$1,000,000. In light of the massive guarantees announced and larger than ever schedule, Managing Director of partypoker Tom Waters said, “We decided to go for it this time and increase the total guaranteed prize pool for the upcoming Powerfest to over $20 million. There are some fantastic new headline events in the series, including three $1m guaranteed editions of the Title Fight, a $2m charity event and eight phased tournaments covering a range of buy-ins. I’m confident that the players will love the variety of events on offer and will relish the opportunity to become a Powerfest champion.” The eight phased tournaments that Waters refers to are multi-phased events that feature guarantees totaling $3,600,000. Phase 1 of these events have buy ins ranging for $5.50 all the way up to $530 and are running several times daily during Powerfest with final phases getting underway on May 14 and 21. Some of the biggest names in poker are already plotting out their Powerfest plans with partypoker ambassador Sam Trickettchief among them. ”I will be playing more online events than ever in this new edition of Powerfest on partypoker. The addition of the $25k super high roller is great and it’s a really nice touch from partypoker to donate all fees to charity,” said Trickett.
  6. The PocketFives Rankings have been dominated by Sweden in 2017. For the better part of the year, at least half of the top 10 has had the familiar blue and yellow flag next to it. Currently, there are five in that top group. As so many Swedish players are among the best in online poker that the world has to offer, PocketFives is taking a look at the current top 10 rankings for the nation itself. Leading the way for both Sweden and the world is 'lena900'. It did not take long for him to get October off to a strong start as he won the $150,000 guaranteed Whale on 888poker $43,750. Along with the money came 418.33 PLB points. ‘Lena900’ is top dog worldwide and trailing them is ‘C Darwin2,’ who is only behind by 15 points. ‘C Darwin 2’ spent part of 2017 ranked #1 in the world and closed out the 2017 World Championship of Online Poker with a final table in Event #74 High ($530 No Limit $300,000 guaranteed). The sixth-place finish came with 247.70 PLB points. Checking in at #3 for Sweden is Andreas ‘r4ndomr4gs’ Berggren, who is ranked #6 worldwide. Berggren won a tournament on 888poker and PokerStars in consecutive days for a combined 332.63 points to give himself some breathing room over #4 ‘Sheater.’ ‘Sheater’ did a lot of damage on partypoker during the partypoker Powerfest series highlighted by his win in the $150,000 guaranteed high roller which gave him 395.60 points and $31,144. The final member of the Swedish contingent to be ranked in the top 10 in the world is #5 Robin ‘inhoo’ Ylitalo. 888poker’s XL Eclipse series was kind to Ylitalo, who won the $100,000 guaranteed Quarterback for $21,356 and 333.92 points. Ranking #6 and #7, respectively are ‘Ariados' and 'DeathbyQuads'. ‘Ariados’ reached a peak of #2 worldwide earlier in 2017 and ‘DeathbyQuads’ is attempting to regain his top form of the year at #7 in the world. Jonatan ‘Po4teUS’ Hellman is in at #8 and attempting to reach the $5,000,000 mark in career earnings before the end of the year. Hellman is about $275,000 short of reaching that target. Johannes ‘Greenstone25’ Korsar had a strong September that included a Powerfest high roller win and a top-70 finish in the WCOOP Main Event. Korsar is less than $80,000 shy of becoming the sixth player ever to hit $10,000,000 in earnings on PocketFives. Rounding out the Swedish top 10 is Jerry ‘perrymejsen’ Odeen, who crossed over the $3,000,000 mark in earnings this year. Odeen’s highest worldwide ranking this year is #12. 7. It’s another week in the #1 spot for the Swedish destroyer ‘C Darwin2’. With a PLB point total of 10,674.85, the online legend continues to hold a massive lead of over 1100 points to whoever would challenge him in the #2 spot. His lead though, as wide as it is, is not insurmountable. Sure, it’s tough to pick up that many qualifying cashes in a week, but every week old scores decrease in value and this week ‘C Darwin2’ failed to add any new meaningful PLB points to his total. So if that continues, it may open the door for a guy like Andreas ‘probirs’ Nemeth. Last week ‘lena900’ had an amazing run to leap into the number two spot. This week it’s Nemeth’s turn as the Hungarian grinder went on an absolutely astounding heater, crushing event after event. He pillaged the prize pools of partypoker’s Powerfest this week, scoring three victories. The first, in Event #25-M brought him $82,010. Then one day later he won two events on the same day. Event #31-H saw him take home $47,101 and the very next event, Event #32-M had him winning $20,840. In total, Nemeth added 1679.46 PLB points to his total - a massive amount in a week. Now, he sits at a career-high ranking of #2 and is currently the player with the best chance to take a shot at ascending to #1. Steven ‘SvZff’ van Zadelhoff remains in the #3 spot, even though he's been keeping away from the online tables. He is, however, making an appearance "down under" at the Aussie Millions. He managed a runner-up in Event #15 of that series for $24,229 but that’s not going to help his online stats. Hopefully, we’ll see him back on the online grind soon. It’s an unusual sight to see ‘lena900’ outside of the top 3. He spent months in the top 3 at the end of 2017 and into 2018, even making a massive leap last week to return to #2. But after Nemeth’s amazing heater and some aging results, the Swedish superstar slips to #4. He may not remain at #4 long though, he has plenty of points to rejoin the top 3, lagging behind van Zadelhoff by only around 122 points. Russia’s ‘hellohellohello’ remains at #5 this week but added on heaps of PLB points by earning four qualifying scores. The most impressive of his cashes this week was his runner-up finish in Powerfest Event #26-H for $103,381. The six-figure score was nearly a career-high score for him (just shy by roughly $700), and 471.16 PLB points. The rest of the top 10 all have new rankings this week. Charging up the charts is Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao at #6. The partypoker ambassador is certainly enjoying the online site he represents scoring three victories on it this week. The Brazilian surged past $6.5 million in lifetime earnings this week after his victory in Powerfest Event #32-H for $50,470. One of the most significant jumps this week comes from Ukraine’s Roman ‘Romeopro’ Romanovsky who re-joins the top 10 at #7 after being ranked #15 last week. He did his damage on a number of online sites, earning qualifying cashes on 888poker (XL Blizzard), bwin.com (Powerfest) and Winamax. In total, he had seven qualifying cashes for over 1750 PLB points. Should he keep grinding like he did this week, Romanovsky has a shot at eclipsing his previous career-high ranking of #3. The dynamic Swedish duo of Andreas ‘r4ndomr4gs’ Berggren and ‘Sheater’ stayed in tandem again this week. The pair of players, as they seemingly have for weeks now, traded places in the rankings as well. Berggren, at #8, now has the PLB point edge on ‘Sheater’, at #9, when last week the roles were reversed. Finally, Russian ‘josef_shvejk’ slipped two spots to #10 this week. Despite his overall PLB score increasing, with help of three qualifying cashes, the fact that everyone in the top 10's points elevated by even more, due to heavy volume during Powerfest, contributed to his fall in the rankings. Other notable moves in the top 25 include Canada's Chris 'Apotheosis' Kruk (#20) and the UK's Jonathan 'proudflop' Proudfoot (#25) rejoining the top 25 while Gary 'quiditbear' Hasson and Kenny 'SpaceyFCB' Hallaert slip just outside of it. Online poker is the lifeblood of the Czech Republic’s poker success and the top-10 is full of names familiar to the peak of PocketFives rankings. The #1 player on the list is ‘pappadogg.’ The lion avatar reached an all-time of #6 in the Worldwide Rankings in 2017. ‘pappadogg’ does not put in as much as volume as they once did to reach that rankings peak but are starting to pick up the pace at the start of 2018. Miroslav ‘Nethos’ Forman comes in at #2. Forman plays the mid-stakes and low-stakes tournaments on PokerStars and struck relative gold at the end of 2017. The November 26 Sunday Million featured a third-place finish from Forman to pick up 550.22 PLB points and $75,250. The bronze medalist in the Czech Republic rankings is WSOP Main Event Day 7 finisher Michael ‘SmallKindB’ Sklenička. The young Czech made the partypokerLIVE MILLIONS final table in Sochi, Russia in September and is no slouch on the online felt either. Sklenička is nudging toward $1 million in earnings, exclusively playing on PokerStars. The ‘gembler’ of the Czech Republic is at an all-time high for their PocketFives rankings at #325. ‘Gembler’ is another player who grinds the single and double-digits buy-in events. Playing under the moniker of ‘IKnowYourLimits,’ they take third in the second event of the partypoker PowerFest in a field of 1,981 to take down 163.58 points. Jakub ‘Olli444’ Oliva plays well online as his $1.325 million in tournament winnings would attest to. Most of Oliva’s biggest scores are from a few years ago and he’s back on that pace with an $18,154 win on PokerStars. ‘Foldin4livin’ plays a few hands, apparently. The #6 player in the Czech Republic has their best results on partypoker including two runner-ups at the end of January. ‘Desmo’ enters the fray at #7. The all-time high for ‘Desmo’ was #106 in 2016. The #500 player in the world resides in the Czech Republic with ‘martinkom111.’ The PokerStars only player took second in the January 28 Sunday Million and pocketed $116,229 and 730.75 PLB points to shoot up the rankings. The final two on the list are ‘Vocaaas’ and ‘dohodys.’ Both players are under 3,000 PLB points and looking to pass their countrymen in the upcoming weeks. 9. Every Sunday The PocketFives Milestone Report looks at the online poker players who are achieving career-best achievement or reaching new heights in the rankings. Jon ‘EMSBas’ Spinks Passes $3 Million Former top 25 grinder from the UK, Jon ‘EMSBas’ Spinks passed the $3 million in lifetime earnings this week. Technically, he got there when he finished in the money during partypoker's Powerfest Event #25-M for $845. But his big boost to put the major milestone within reach dates back to January 15 when he took down a $150K GTD tournament on partypoker for over $25,000. Spinks, a mid-stakes grinder and occasional shot taker, is currently the #55 ranked player in the UK. While his current resume of cashes consists of mostly of finishes that reward him in the hundreds of dollars, it’s clear he knows how to put a run together. His Hendon Mob has him eclipsing over $1 million in live earnings, including a final table of the April 2017 partypoker MILLIONS live event for over $275,000. A long time PocketFiver, celebrating 10 years on the site this year, Spinks has achieved the coveted online Triple Crown twice and notched multiple six-figure cashes in the course of his illustrious career. Back in 2013, PocketFives had the opportunity to talk with him after his win of the PokerStars Sunday Warm-up - check it out! $2 Million For A Trio Of P5ers A trio of PocketFivers toppled the $2 million lifetime earnings mark this week. First up is Russia’s ’nsmirnov’, the current #47 ranked player in the world. The cash that did the deed was a seemingly innocent $750 cash in a standard $150 online tournament. But his entire January was leading up to this 'level up' as he hauled in a massive 38 four-figure (or better) scores. His best result of the month came this past week when he took the bronze in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder for nearly $12,000. The solid run in 2018 has him currently sitting at a career-high standing in the PocketFives Worldwide rankings. Chile’s #2 ranked player, Javier ‘Ofbravetight’ Swett also touched $2 million. He final tabled the PokerStars $162 Bounty Builder for $502 to make the mark. Swett, a true grinder, seemingly plays every level of tournament he can register for putting up nearly 40 cashes this week alone. Finally, Nicolau ‘nicofellow’ Villa-Lobos from Brazil rounds out our $2 million crew for the week. After he made the final table of the PokerStars Daily 500 on January 27, earning $4,233 to hit $2 million, Villa-Lobos never even took a moment to enjoy the plateau. He continued to cruise in tournaments all week and has since accumulated over $20,000 more than the milestone. This comes after he took a full month away from the online tables, starting back up in 2018 on the same day he hit the $2 million mark. Two Is The Magic Number When it comes to changes in the Worldwide Top 100 this week, the most important number is 2. First, there are two new members of the top 100. Russia’s Anatoly ‘nl_profit’ Filatov breaches the ranks of the top 100 for the first time, entering at #80. He put together a string of big-time cashes during partypoker’s current online series Powerfest including a win in Event #24-H for $57,820. Joining him as a newcomer is Sweden’s Alfred ‘Kzzon’ Karlsson. For Karlsson, he made strides during 888poker’s XL Blizzard event, taking home the victory in Event #28 for $14,817. But that’s the not the only reason 2 is so special. Andreas ‘probirs’ Nemeth hit a new career high ranking of #2 in the world this week. The Hungarian absolutely destroyed the Powerfest tables this week accumulating over 1600 PLB points to jettison him up to possibly challenge the current king of the rankings, ‘C Darwin2’. More about Nemeth’s run this week can be found in this week's Worldwide Rankings column. 10. From May 6-20 partypoker’s online mega-series POWERFEST returns and, by all accounts, it’s primed to be the biggest yet. The two-week series is scheduled to have a massive 366 events and $40,000,000 total guaranteed prize pool, the largest ever series prize pool ever offered by the online site. “I don’t know who keeps coming up with these insane guarantees but it sure is a great time to be playing with partypoker,” said partypoker ambassador and popular high-stakes regular Jason Koon. Of the 366 events, 13 of them will carry a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, ensuring that plenty of players will have the opportunity at six-figure scores. Another partypoker ambassador, Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard (currently ranked #23 in the PocketFives.com Worldwide Rankings) has been extremely hands-on when it comes to crafting the upcoming schedule for POWERFEST and according to him, there’s going to plenty for everyone to play for. “I’ve been more heavily involved in this POWERFEST scheduling than ever before. There is a lot of consistent logic throughout giving the most varied, exciting and fun POWERFEST schedule since partypoker’s resurrection a few years ago,” Patrick said to the partypoker blog. “There are more 6-Max events, more PLO, more high rollers but also buy-ins for all bankrolls and most importantly lots of chances of glory. I don’t think I’ll take a day off over the 2 weeks.” Part of the new ALL-IN movement for partypoker has been to push the boundaries of their guarantees in both their live and online events. The previous POWERFEST online series promised $15,000,000 in prize pools while the current partypoker LIVE Season One Grand Final in Barcelona offered €23,000,000 in total guarantees. As the partypoker events get more popular, the guarantees seem to only be growing. “These guarantees both live and online are huge and I can’t wait to play every day of both! With this being the largest POWERFEST on partypoker I am proud to be associated with a company who just keep making things bigger and better for the players,” said Sam Trickett, another member of Team partypoker. Players can be sure that with so much money up for grabs partypoker will be offering a number of satellites and phase tournaments to help players find their way into as many events as possible. Though the full schedule of events has yet to be released, Jason Koon seems pretty fired up about it. “I’ve seen the schedule and I can’t wait for players to see it too, it’s definitely the best one yet.”
  11. Sometimes the high stakes just aren’t high enough. As a pair of major online tournament series gets ready to kick off, four of online poker’s very best players have made public a six-figure side bet to run alongside the massive schedules of partypoker’s POWERFEST and PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker. The high profile bet pairs the partypoker ambassador and online high-stakes regular Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard and ‘bencb789’ against the Swedish super duo of ‘lena900’, currently the #3-ranked player in the PocketFives Worldwide Rankings, and the only player to be ranked as the best online player in the world in 2018, ‘C Darwin2’. The details of the high stakes heavyweight bout were laid out on social media on Wednesday. Each pair tallies their combined cashes in tournaments with buy-ins of $109 or greater and a minimum $100,000 prize pool. All tournaments that fall under this category in both POWERFEST and SCOOP count as do any agreed upon tournaments that may occur during the May 6-21 timespan. According to Leonard, all of the tournaments in the scope of the bet have already been agreed upon by both teams. Players must play the selected events and can only opt out of playing an event (making it not count) if their team is behind in the challenge. As if the guarantees of both SCOOP and POWERFEST weren’t enough, there’s a combined $150 million in guarantees between them, the bet is for an undisclosed figure north of $100,000. One may wonder with so much on the line why would these four online superstars risk even more of their bankroll. Perhaps it's to feel properly motivated or a brewing rivalry? “It's just for fun.,” said Leonard. “They [‘C Darwin2’ and ‘lena900’] are seen as the best MTT players in the world and we are very confident in ourselves too. I don't think either side has a huge edge but it's fun to gamble like this and it's good for the community to follow along. When you play by yourself in a series and when things go bad it's easy to start punting. When you're part of a team, and Ben will be counting on me playing my A-game, then it means I'll play as focused as possible so my overall EV from the series increases.” The combined series will literally have hundreds of tournaments, many of which fall under the guidelines of the side bet. With a heavy playing schedule and the additional motivation of a public prop bet Leonard explains that he’ll be on a tight regimen. “I will wake up at 3 pm CET every day. I do 30-minute exercise with bitB players online and then I have a cold shower and meditate. My food delivery comes just after then, I eat, very short second meditation and then start playing around 4:30 pm CET,” Leonard said. “I register until around 10 pm and usually the session finishes around 4 am. Every day we will play dozens of tournaments, there are huge tournaments this year, lots of 5Ks, 10Ks, and 25Ks.” As if the grind weren’t difficult enough, Leonard and his partner ‘bencb789’, who is generally considered one of the best tournament players in the world as well, have decided to poke the elk (the official animal of Sweden). The opposition is two of the most consistent, winningest online players of the past year. Both ‘C Darwin2’ and ‘Lena900’ have the utmost respect of their peers based on their stellar results and the pair have a seemingly unquenchable thirst for online poker. Combined, the pair have accumulated nearly $19 million in lifetime earnings. “I think they are both amazing players, but more importantly very good guys,” Leonard says of those he’s up against in the bet. “I enjoy betting against them and when they win and cost me money I'm genuinely happy for their success. They've always been really good losers in the past too. Their results speak for themselves and I couldn't have any more respect or admiration for them, even if Niklas [‘Lena900’] won't give us the odds we deserve.” The bet generated instant interest from fans as well as the oddsmakers at PokerShares who worked quickly to set lines for which of the dynamic duos would out-cash the other. Clearly, for Leonard, this is one of his favorite times of the year. While some make World Series of Poker bracelet bets to add action to summer, Leonard, one of bitB Staking's head coach, puts it all on the line in the biggest online series of the year. A former #1-ranked online player in his own right, Leonard has a new dedication to the online game to go along with his latest prop bet. “I don't really care about live poker anymore. I’ve retired from it to make sure I'm the best online MTT player in the world. I skipped Barcelona, Monaco, and Montreal to work ten hours every day for the last few months," Leonard said. "I couldn't be more prepared and this is what I live for. I absolutely love online tournament series, it's my drug.” Leonard said on his Twitter that he will be posting results as they happen during the course of the two series. Both partypoker’s POWERFEST and PokerStars SCOOP online series get underway on May 6.
  12. The sixth day of partypoker's POWERFEST brought with it another $1.5 million in prize pool guarantees spread out over a hefty schedule of 29 new tournaments. The highlight of the day was the $300,000 guaranteed in Event #37-HR ($1,050 Progressive KO, Six Max No Limit Hold'em). The lion share of the prize pool was taken home by 'DOnt_DO-iT' who was able to survive the 376 player field for a first-place payday of $36,051.54. That, combined with over $38,500 in claimed bounties, was good enough to make him the biggest POWERFEST winner of the day. The most well-known winner on the day would be none other than the all-time leader in online career cashes, Chris 'moorman1' Moorman. Moorman, the 29-time Pocketfives Triple Crown winner, proved once again why he's still one of the best online players in the game by winning Event #37-H ($215 Progressive KO Six Max No Limit Hold'em). He took home over $16,000 for first place and an additional $13,400 in bounties. The former #1-ranked player will add that cash to his over $15 million in lifetime earnings and add the title of POWERFEST champion to his long list of accolades. Another PocketFiver who took home a title on Friday was Austria's 'mehwtf'. Playing under his partypoker screenname 'pokeair77', he won Event #38-HR ($530 Six Max Pot Limit Omana) for $15,870.12. The victory put him just over $600,000 in lifetime earnings and marks his second cash of the series. Additional winners at the High and High Roller buy-ins include 'gingasnapped', 'C125LY', 'massi_83', 'georibo11', 'mbtremendo', 'Hugo_BonD1' and 'LoSientoGrace'. 13. Day 4 of the partypoker POWERFEST wrapped up last night, with several notable names and PocketFivers taking down tournaments in the High and High Roller buy-in levels. The biggest winner on the day was ‘llijix133’, who emerged victorious in Event #24 High Roller: $1,050 No Limit Hold’em 6-Max. ‘llijix133’ outlasted 360 runners to do a heads-up chop with eventual runner-up ‘skippyskip5’. That deal banked ‘llijix133’ $64.452.85, while ’skippyskip5’ won $60,827.16. Members of the PocketFives community to bag a POWERFEST title include Portugal’s Eduardo ‘OnTheEdgeT8s’ Cardigo. He came out on top of Event #22 High: $215 Mix-Max No Limit Hold’em, winning $20,060.50. That event attracted 590 runners, creating a $118,000 prize pool. This cash is Cardigo’s largest to date. Russia’s Aleksandr ‘BenRichards1’ Mordvinov also found himself in the winner’s circle yesterday. Mordvinov won Event #26 High Roller: $530 No Limit Hold’em Fast Progressive KO, defeating a 256-strong field to bank $13,049.60. With more than $6 million in online cashes, Mordinov — who plays under the name ‘EvnomiYa’ on PokerStars — is the most accomplished of yesterday’s champions. His prior cashes include a runner-up finish in the 888 XL Eclipse for $114,700, a SCOOP final table for $104,000, and a third-place finish in the partypoker Autumn Million for $100,050. Other winners in the High and High Roller buy-in level and above on Wednesday included ‘mateee’, ‘JimyTransaction’, ‘Jeff7010’, ‘Doyle883’, ‘ZbestZ’, ‘Germanbluffer91’, and ‘WhoDatt.’. Event #3-High is one of the $5,200 events and is a standard No Limit Hold'em MTT. Three of the $5,200s feature the Progressive Knockout Bounty format. Those events are numbers 49, 75, and 102. 11 of the 20 Championship tournaments are PKO with buy-ins going from $3,30, $16.50, $55, $215, $1,050, and topping the mountain at $5,200. All four of the $1,050 Championships are PKOs. All Powerfest PKOs set aside half of the tournament buy-in to use for the progressive bounties. Only one Pot Limit Omaha tournament is on the Championship list. Event #111 on September 18 is a $10,300 with a handsome guarantee of $500,000 and played in the Six Max realm. The largest Championship of them all is the $25,500 $3 million guaranteed. The event plays in the Eight Max format and starts on September 22 as #122 on the schedule. PLO spreads across 22 of the 147 Powerfest events with all of them to be run as Six Max. PLO8 is involved as well. Six of the 22 PLOs are PLO8 and the highest buy-in available is for $530. partypoker returns the fun Mix-Max format to the online world. 25 events utilize the setup that operated as a World Series of Poker tournament until the end of 2014. Standard rules for Mix-Max are for events to start nine-handed, shift to Six Max, and then Heads Up until a winner is reached. Structures are not yet available for Powerfest and the official rules for Mix-Max are to be discovered then. PocketFives will have daily Powerfest coverage beginning September 2.
  19. Over the next two weeks there will be 670 tournaments as part of partypoker's POWERFEST series but on the first day of play 'WWWpartyCOM' decided to make quite the statement. The high stakes regular took down the first Championship event on the schedule, Event #3 Super High Roller ($5,200 No Limit Hold'em) for just a smidge over $221,000. This isn't his first big buy-in POWERFEST win either. In May, he won the $25,500 Super High Roller event for $872,000. Partypoker Ambassadors Anatoly 'NL_Profit' Filatov and Bertrand 'ElkY_' Grospellier finished second and fourth respectively, earning $159,000 and $83,000 each. It was a strong Sunday for Filatov. He also took down the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller for almost $38,000. That wasn't the only Championship event to wrap up on Sunday. 'SirStanleyRoyce' actually earned $95,175.65, the second biggest winner's payday on Sunday, after beating out 875 other players in Event #5 High Roller ($1,050 No Limit Hold'em PKO (Championship Event)). 'Tremaz77' finished runner-up for $67,951.10 while 'Sheparentao' rounded out the podium finishers with a $45,246.28 score. 'GlobalHappiness' conquered the 924-player field in Event #4 High Roller ($530 No Limit Hold'em) to win $78,000 after chopping heads-up with Lithuanian 'bagoch', who earned $71,800 in the deal. 20. It’s unbelievable how many times you see the same names make these big final tables. On Day 10 of the partypoker POWERFEST, there were multiple players who made simultaneous deep runs. But we’ll get to them later. First up, let’s start with your biggest winner on Tuesday: ‘Drulitoo’. They won Event #62 Super High Roller Championship Event: $5,200 No Limit Hold’em — the biggest buy-in of the day — for a mouth-watering $203,900. That tournament attracted 194 runners, and with $1M guaranteed ‘Drulitooo’ took more than a fifth of that. Over in Event #64 High Roller: $1,050 No Limit Hold’em, Chris ‘therealmoorm’ Moorman was battling heads-up against ‘GewoonBoef’ for the title. He’d ultimately fall in second place for a $68,038.40 score, while the title and $95,569.50 went to his opponent. We’ve got to a give a mention to several players who seem to be making a final table every day. Yesterday, ‘KiLLerKoWaLsKi’ finished sisxth in Event #64 High: $215 No Limit Hold’em for $5,923.88, and also finished sixth in Event #66 High: $109 No Limit Hold’em Fast Six-Max Progressive Knock-out for $1,255.50 plus $1,101 in bounties. ‘skippyskip5’ is another player on a tear right now. Tuesday saw him or her finish fourth in Event #63 High Roller: $530 No Limit Hold’em Progressive Knock-out Mix-Max for $15,122.78 + $9,203, and place sixth in Event #64 High Roller: $1,050 No Limit Hold’em for $16,731. partypoker Ambassador Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao also had a close call, settling for third place and $8,820 in Event #65 High Roller: $530 Pot Limit Omaha Six-Max. Other winners in High and High Roller tier events yesterday include ‘ICMslut99’, ‘EndTropY’, ‘r0bertlangdon’, ‘guerreirodopano’, ‘MisterN411’, ‘AliG212’, ‘Palsgaard93’, ‘daesai’, and ‘pertyi’. 25. The penultimate day of the partypoker POWERFEST is in the books, and it saw plenty of PocketFivers pick up titles. Kristen “Krissyb24” Bicknell won her first POWERFEST in Event #136 High: $215 No Limit Hold’em Progressive Knock-out, outlasting 671 runners to bank $14,379.05 plus $7,519 from bounties. The partypoker ambassador has been crushing the live poker scene of late, with big scores in Las Vegas and Macau bringing her career earnings up to more than $2.2 million. Her fellow Team partypoker member, Ludovic “Gr4vyBo4t” Geilich, came close to a title himself. Geilich would ultimately finish in fourth in the High Roller version of Bicknell’s event ($1,050 No Limit Hold’em Progressive Knock-out) for $4,263 (+ $3,835). “IamPEAKing” would emerge victorious in that one, adding $20,695.85 + $30,150 to his or her bankroll. On top of that, they also placed third in Event #138 High Roller: $530 No Limit Hold’em Fast Six-Max Progressive Knock-out for an additional $5,540.62 (+ $4,421). One player who has been crushing this POWERFEST is the UK’s “NoOnionsBlud”, who has racked up multiple second and third-place finishes. A title eluded him prior to Saturday though, when he took down Event #137 High Roller: $530 Pot Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Six-Max for $12,744.64. Other PocketFivers to win titles on Friday include “ComeToMyParty”. He won Event #134 High: $215 No Limit Hold’em Mix-Max for $19,399.40, bringing his winnings up above the million mark. Meanwhile, “VblackholeV” won Event #135 High Roller: $109 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max Progressive Knock-out for $8,329.82 (+ $5,612), and can now boast more than $2.6 million in career online winnings. Two other players worth shouting out are “SlowplayAlex” and “DannyAgger”. Not only did the former finish third in the same event “ComeToMyParty” won (for $10,350), he also finished third in the event “IamPEAKing" won for $10,708.25 (+ $3,607). Meanwhile, “DannyAgger” notched up a seventh-place finish in the same event Bicknell won (for $1,735.22 + $2,472), and also final tabled Event #139 High: $109 No Limit Hold’em Turbo Progressive Knock-out for another seventh ($405.62 + $155).
