  1. With so many promotions taking place on 888poker in the month of May, it’s no wonder PocketFivers had another incredibly profitable month on the online site. In addition to 888poker’s popular XL Inferno online series, they routinely discounted their biggest Sunday tournaments and provided players a Galaxy of Freerolls to benefit from. Players took notice and flocked to take advantage. The UK’s ‘JBHInfinity’ picked up a huge score at the end of the month to take home the top spot on the Top Earners list. They booked a final table finish in the $500,000 guaranteed XL Inferno Main Event for a career-high cash of $32,780. They also had a bronze medal finish in the May 19 edition of the $5,000 Deepstack Monsoon which was good for another $750, helping them book a total of $33,883 for the month. Fellow grinder from the UK Ben ‘benwa1’ Warrington also had a big month racking up 11 in the money finishes, 10 of which were PLB-qualifying scores. Warrington started the month off strong with back-to-back four-figure scores. The first was a win in the May 2 edition of the $10,000 Monsoon for $2,812 and he followed that up with a victory in the May 3 $20,000 Sunday Sale Whale for another $7,579. Add to that two more four-figure scores and Warrington ended the month with a total of $20,568.18 for second on the Top Earners list. Sachin ‘mcsash’ Joshi took the #3 spot on the Top Earners list for May, racking up $18,750 in winnings. Joshi, who plays under the screen name ‘BUCKEDURNAN’ on 888poker did all his damage in a single shot by taking down the May 24 edition of the $109 buy-in $100,000 Sunday Mega Deep. He bested the 705 entry field and locked up the $18,750 first-place prize, a career-high cash for the London-based player. 888poker Top 10 Earners May 2020 [table id=68 /] When it came to grinding, no one came close to the Netherlands ‘HeateN’. The small stakes tournament grinder racked up 137 in-the-money finishes in May for a total of $6,090 in earnings. Their month included 22 top-three finishes for a 16% podium finish. While they usually stick to the smaller stakes, $10 and under, a win in the May 16 edition of the $55 $3,000 Monsoon brought them a nice score of $1,171, their second-highest score ever on 888poker. No stranger to the Most Cashes list is Russia’s ‘Neverhood007’ who has routinely topped this category in past months. In May, they racked up 81 in-the-money finishes for a total earnings of $4,123. In all of those cashes, ‘Neverhood007’ managed to grab the top spot just one time, on May 29 when he took down the $400 Gtd Frenzy R&A for $160. Bruno ‘KeyzerSozePT’ Ferreira also had a prolific month, climbing into the #3 spot on the Most Cashes list with 79 cashes for a total of $15,258 - the most of anyone in the top 10. Ferreira booked five wins in the month including his spotlight score of $2,354 in the May 6 edition of the Gran Deepstack. 888poker Top 10 Most Cashes May 2020 [table id=69 /] With all of those cashes, it should be no surprise that ‘HeateN’ also topped the 888poker Most Wins category for May. They took down seven tournament of their 137 results which was two better than the next trio of players. ‘RuffWizard’, ‘Flavio Felipe’, and Bruno ‘KeyzerSozePT’ Ferreira all were tied for second place as they wrapped up the month with five outright victories. Behind them was ‘Appiah1’ and ‘volkogrich’ who struck gold four time in the month of May. 888poker Top 10 Most Wins May 2020 [table id=70 /]
  2. The conclusion of 888poker’s XL Inferno championship online series played out on Sunday as players flocked to take a shot in one of the biggest events 888poker has held hold all year, the $500,000 Gtd XL Inferno Main Event. It took over 12 hours, but in the end it was Sweden’s ‘junijuniorz’ who outlasted the 1,623 player field (523 rebuys) to turn their $250 buy-in into an $85,177.95 payday. Lithuania’s ‘KofeBryant’ fell just one spot short of the title but walked away with $60,618.06 as the runner-up. And ‘9salute46’ finished in third place which was good for a healthy $46,396.52 score. The final table actually offered five-figure scores to the top seven spots including the UK’s ‘JBHInfinity’ who finished in fourth for $32,780.15 and Argentina’s ‘lapechuga4’ who rounded out the top five and walked away with a $23,954.72 payday. There were some other notable names that managed to climb into the cash including former #1-ranked Nicolas ‘PKaiser’ Fierro (64th, $1,109.48), former #2-ranked PocketFiver ‘Inho’ (71st, $1,109.48), the current #6-ranked pro from Sweden Jerry ‘Perrymejsen’ Odeen (79th, $1,059.05), Feargus ‘EZ.PZ’ Murphy (81st, $1,059.05), 2020 XL Inferno High Roller winner ‘HSV_Gandi’ (92nd, $958.18), and online poker superstar ‘Isildur1337x’ (aka ‘CDarwin2’) who finished inside the top 100 for $1,008.62. There were two other tournaments on the XL Inferno Sunday schedule including the $50,000 Gtd Mini Main Event. Romania’s ‘LHadar’ battled through the 1,889 (632 rebuys) field and in a three-way deal, secured themselves $10,676.07 and the XL title. The UK’s ‘meg1066’ was the official runner-up and turned their $33 buy-in into a $9,188.56 payday. The final member of the deal was ‘SergeySil83’ who locked up $7,552.23 for third place, over $1,000 more than the posted third-place finish was supposed to earn. The final event on the schedule was one for the micro-stakes grinders. The $20,000 Gtd Micro Main Event saw 3,502 players (1,725 rebuys) post their $5.50 buy-in in an effort to turn it into a four-figure score. Ukraine’s ‘Testosteron,’ muscled their way to the top, winning $3,661.58 and the last title of the series. ‘brook1101’ from the United Kingdom settled for second place and added $2,744.17 to their bankroll while Brazil’s ‘SabePai’ claimed the bronze and $2,012.29. In addition to the trio of Main Events, there were six other championship events that took place over the weekend. The action included guarantee-beating fields in a series of Deepstack tournaments as well as a day of short-handed play with three 6-Max events. 2020 XL Inferno Champions Event #26: $30,000 Deepstack $55 buy-in 584 entries (219 rebuys) $40,150 prize pool Champion: metelindberg - $7,584.53 Event #27: $20,000 Mini Deepstack $16.50 buy-in 1,375 entries (505 rebuys) $28,200 prize pool Champion: mojitos86 - $4,603.14* Event #28: $15,000 Late Deepstack $33 buy-in 576 entries (206 rebuys) $23,460 prize pool Champion: BehindSpace - $4,434.02 Event #29: $30,000 6-Max $109 buy-in 349 entries (146 rebuys) $49,500 prize pool Champion: skorp1161 - $9,562.67* Event #30: $20,000 Mini 6-Max $16.50 buy-in 1,280 entries (579 rebuys) $27,885 prize pool Champion: aka.plan4ik - $4,561.98 Event #31: $15,000 Late 6-Max $55 buy-in 328 entries (112 rebuys) $22,000 prize pool Champion: LeetRunGoot - $4,620 Event #32: $500,000 Main Event $250 buy-in 1,623 entries (523 rebuys) $504,310 prize pool Champion: junijuniorz - $85,178.75 Event #33: $50,000 Mini Main Event $33 buy-in 1,889 entries (632 rebuys) $75,630 prize pool Champion: LHadar - $10,676.07* Event #34: $20,000 Micro Main Event $5.50 buy-in 3,502 entries (1,725 rebuys) $26,135 prize pool Champion: Testosteron. - $3,661.58
  3. This week online grinders logged on to 888poker to play in the heart of the 2020 XL Inferno schedule and vie for a piece of the online series’ $1.5 million in guaranteed prize pools. The promise of five-figure paydays always turns Event #17 ($100,000 High Roller) into a spotlight tournament on the schedule. With 255 players (71 total rebuys) the tournament just missed the guarantee by $2,200 and became the first to offer an overlay. That was good news for the players and especially for Germany’s ‘HSV_Gandi’ who took down the $320 High Roller and collected $20,450 for first. ‘Rocket_Aces’ finished as the runner-up and took home $15,000 for their efforts. Sweden’s ‘MorayEEEEEL’ just missed out on a second XL Inferno title, falling in third place and receiving $11,300. Russia’s #1-ranked online grinder Maksim ‘MAMOHT_T’ Mamonov climbed to the top of Event #18 ($30,000 Mini High Roller) and added $7,574.89 to his over $8 million in career lifetime earnings. It’s the first recorded XL title for the current #12-ranked player in the world. Right behind him was Ireland’s ‘Shovelin20’ who took home $5,493.70 for second place. Brazil’s ‘LeoJoseCame’ wrapped up in third which was good for $4,050.10. The mid-week PKO’s proved to be popular with guarantee-besting fields in all six of the events that took place. The UK’s ‘Mrpop01’ knocked out the competition in Event #20 ($50,000 PKO) to walk away with the $5,440.43 first-place prize and an additional $4,602.67 in bounties. ‘pow_indacage’ settled for second place and $4,039.87 with an additional $523.4 in bounties. The second bullet for ‘Boifx18’ paid off with a third-place finish which added $2,976.75 and an additional $2,237.10 to his bankroll. The second of the major PKO tournaments, Event #23 ($50,000 PKO 8-Max), was won by ‘sinke34’ who defeated the field of 340 players (with 102 rebuys) for a $6,381.53 payday with an additional $6,823.12 in bounties for a total score of $13,204. ‘mathi8ce’ finished as the runner-up and earned $4,723.87 and an additional $587.11. And Romania’s ‘Ph4N888’ took the final spot on the podium, winning $3,563.62 plus $2,165.61 in bounties for third place. What’s Next For XL Inferno Headed into the final weekend of the series all eyes will be on the $500,000 Gtd Main Event. Over 330 players are already registered for the Main Event having paid their $250 buy-in or found a way in through one of the many satellites that are still running. In the end, the XL Inferno Main Event champion will likely earn close to $100,000 and the majority of the final table will be logging off with an extra five-figures in their account. However the $500K Main Event isn’t the only one taking place on the final day of the series. Players with any size bankroll will have an opportunity to play for a major title with the Micro Main Event buy-in being just $5.50. 4. The first weekend of 888poker’s XL Inferno championship series is in the books as online players turned out in force to battle for a piece of the over $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money. It should be no surprise to discover that each of the series’ tournaments to date has crushed their posted guarantee giving players at every level more than ample opportunity to pad their bankrolls. Thought 13 events, $609.043 in total prize pools have been awarded, more than $132,000 above the posted guarantees. Early Action The series started off with always popular $109 Opening Event. For 2020, the XL Inferno Opening Event got a guarantee boost up to $75,000 but it wasn't enough for the 636 players (and their 242 rebuys) that pushed the prize pool to $87,800. In the end, Sweden’s ‘MorayEEEEEL’ took home the XL title and $16,585.42 first-place prize. Right behind them was Romania’s ’noneda’ who finished as the runner-up and claimed $12,028.60 for their efforts. ‘Knaber666’ fell in third place but walked away with $8,867.80. Another early highlight came in the form of Event #4 ($55 buy-in, $30,000 PKO). The prize pool swelled to $44,900 as 668 players (230 rebuys) threw haymakers in search of an XL title. Romania’s ‘FishTankHero’ emerged as the winner grabbing $4,209.49 for first place and another $2,970.29 in bounties for a total score of $7,179.78. Romania dominated the final table, with five of the final nine hailing the country. The spotlight tournament of the first weekend was Event #10 ($109 buy-in, $150,000 Tune Up). The Tune Up is traditionally one of the biggest events on any given XL schedule and, like the Opening Event this year, it received a big boost to the guarantee, $50,000 to be exact, to make it even bigger. Players seemingly couldn’t pass up the opportunity to turn a $109 buy-in into a five-figure score as 1,137 runners (478 rebuys) helped 888poker best the increased guarantee with a prize pool of $161,500. Finland’s ‘MuckFest’ took down the title and the $28,230.20 first-place prize, the largest series score of the weekend. ‘ALLCasH90’ grabbed second place and $20,510.50 for their efforts while longtime 888poker grinder ‘GramNaKartke’ landed the bronze and $15,342.50 for their bankroll. What’s Next for XL Inferno More marquee tournaments are on the horizon for XL Inferno starting with the $100,000 High Roller which takes place on Tuesday, May 18. Immediately after that, the bounty hunters will have six straight PKO tournaments to enjoy including the $50,000 PKO 8-Max, the largest bounty tournament on the schedule. Then it's the $250 buy-in $500,000 Gtd Main Event which takes place on Sunday. Early registration for the tournament indicates that it will, once again, be one of the biggest events that 888poker holds all calendar year with players getting a shot at a first-place prize that closes in on six-figures. 5. As summer approaches, online grinders have yet another major online series to look forward to. This week 888poker announced a May return for one of their marquee online poker series, XL Inferno. This year, XL Inferno will take place from May 14 - 24 providing online value hunters 34 events with over $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money spread out over the 11 days of action. As far as 888poker is concerned, if something is working well, there's no need to fix it. The 34-event schedule mirrors that of the 2020 XL Blizzard that took place in February. All of the events are the same, but players will appreciate that select popular tournaments received a bump in their guarantee. From the $75,000 Opening Event to the $100,000 High Roller, the schedule gives players at every bankroll level an XL title to fight for. That also means the return of one of 888poker’s biggest tournaments of the year, the XL Inferno $500,000 GTD Main Event. The Main Event of any given 888poker XL series offers players a shot at one of the largest paydays the online site will pay out all year long. With a buy-in of just $250, everyday players and recreational shot-takers have a tournament that can transform their bankroll with a six-figure score. In 2019, the XL Inferno Main Event saw 1,634 players push the prize pool to over $501,000. When it came down to the end, the final three players made a deal which ensured that all three of them would walk away with more than $50,000. Russia’s ‘D3n1sk4PP’ ended up taking home the XL Inferno Main Event crown and $70,252 for first-place. Brazil’s ‘LuisRRRRR’ banked $65,502 as the official runner-up and PocketFiver Lucas ‘lucasfalves9’ Ferreira finished in third place and earned a career-high cash of $55,543. The Main Event structure allows for plenty of play by giving players a 50,000 chips starting stack with 20-minute levels. Of course, in order to hit such a lofty guarantee rebuys are permitted for players who go broke in the early levels. Also, there’s plenty of late registration for those who are unable to hop in right when the tournament gets started. 888poker continues to offer players opportunities to win their way into the Main Event for far less than the $250 buy-in. There’s nothing cheaper than free and 888poker is running twice-daily freerolls for recent depositors. The Daily XL Inferno Qualifiers promises players no fewer than eight Main Event seats to be given away every day right up until the day before Main Event. There is also 888poker’s popular regularly-running satellite system that gives players a path to winning a Main Event seat starting at just $0.10. As players win lower stakes buy-ins they earn tickets for bigger satellites eventually rising through the ranks for a shot at a Main Event seat. So carve out some room on the calendar as all of the action kicks off on May 14th with the Opening Event and its new $75,000 guarantee. 888Poker 2020 XL Inferno Schedule DATE EVENT BUY-IN May-14 XL Inferno #1 - $75,000 Opening Event $109.00 XL Inferno #2 - $25,000 Mini Opening Event $16.50 XL Inferno #3 - $20,000 Late Opening Event $55.00 May-15 XL Inferno #4 - $30,000 PKO $55.00 XL Inferno #5 - $20,000 Mini PKO $22.00 XL Inferno #6 - $10,000 Late PKO $33.00 May-16 XL Inferno #7 - $30,000 8-Max $109.00 XL Inferno #8 - $10,000 Mini 8-Max $8.80 XL Inferno #9 - $15,000 Late 8-Max $55.00 May-17 XL Inferno #10 - $150,000 Tune Up $160.00 XL Inferno #11 - $50,000 Mini Tune Up $16.50 XL Inferno #12 - $15,000 Micro Tune Up $5.50 XL Inferno #13 - $20,000 Late Tune Up $55.00 May-18 XL Inferno #14 - $20,000 R&A Event $33.00 XL Inferno #15 - $10,000 Mini R&A $5.50 XL Inferno #16 - $15,000 Late R&A $16.50 May-19 XL Inferno #17 - $100,000 High Roller $320.00 XL Inferno #18 - $30,000 Mini High Roller $55.00 XL Inferno #19 - $20,000 Late High Roller $109.00 May-20 XL Inferno #20 - $50,000 PKO $109.00 XL Inferno #21 - $20,000 Mini PKO $16.50 XL Inferno #22 - $10,000 Late PKO $33.00 May-21 XL Inferno #23 - $50,000 PKO 8-Max $160.00 XL Inferno #24 - $20,000 Mini PKO 8-Max $22.00 XL Inferno #25 - $20,000 Late PKO 8-Max $55.00 May-22 XL Inferno #26 - $30,000 DeepStack $55.00 XL Inferno #27 - $20,000 Mini DeepStack $16.50 XL Inferno #28 - $15,000 Late DeepStack $33.00 May-23 XL Inferno #29 - $30,000 6-Max $109.00 XL Inferno #30 - $20,000 Mini 6-Max $16.50 XL Inferno #31 - $15,000 Late 6-Max $55.00 May-24 XL Inferno #32 - $500,000 Main Event $250.00 XL Inferno #33 - $50,000 Mini Main Event $33.00 XL Inferno #34 - $15,000 Micro Main Event $5.50
  6. There’s a lot of action to be had on the online felts in the month of May and 888poker is doing their part by giving their players more than $25,000,000 in total tournament prizes to play for. The online site is running an abundance of promotions and big-time tournaments that will provide both online grinders and recreational players a reason to log on. Sunday Sale One of 888poker’s most popular promotions returns in May with the return of the Sunday Sale. The Sunday Sale allows players to take a shot in some of 888poker’s biggest tournaments of the week for half the price. The real value comes with the fact that even though the buy-in is cut in half, the guarantee stays the same. This includes a $55 price tag for the popular $100,000 Mega Deep. The high rollers will see the $320 price tag on the $20,000 Whale reduced to just $160. Also, the $15,000 Monsoon drops into the mid-stakes with a $27.50 buy-in. To find all of the Sunday Sale opportunities, fire up the client and click on the Tournament Tab. Enter The Dragon One of the biggest tournaments currently taking place on 888poker is the new multi-flight event - The Dragon. In fact, there are actually two tournaments in series: the $55 buy-in $50,000 guaranteed Dragon and the more affordable $12 buy-in, $30,000 guaranteed Mini Dragon. Both of the Dragon tournaments have Day 1 flights running every day of the week from Sunday through Friday. Then, on Saturdays, those who build a stack in the opening flights reconvene for Day 2 to play down to that week's winner. Both The Dragon and the Mini Dragon have been pulling in big fields so far with the $55 Dragon routinely paying out five-figures for first place. The Mini Dragon is helping small stakes player turn their $12 into huge paydays the majority of the final table will typically walk away with more and 100x their initial investment. In order to help players participate in the weekly Dragon tournaments, 888poker has direct satellites into Day 1 flights. The satellites, which run every day, all guarantee seats. Players can register for a satellite for as little as $0.50 to get into the Mini Dragon and just $2.20 for the Dragon. In classic 888poker style, super satellites for the series start at just $0.10. The Freerolls Continue What started back in March continues through the month of May as the Galaxy of Freerolls rolls on. The promotion challenges players to complete ‘Space Missions’ in order to pick up tickets to weekly freerolls that have thousands of dollars in value. Whether you are a tournament player or a cash game grinder, the missions are designed to be easy to complete so that everyone has a chance and getting a free boost to their bankroll. For those who get ambitious, a player who collects two or more challenges in a week will get entry into the weekly $10K freeroll. Finally, complete 14 challenges over the course of the promotion and you’ll earn a ticket to the $100,000 freeroll which will take place on June 7. The Heat Is On Of course, a large part of what’s taking place in May on 888poker is their popular XL Inferno online series. The online series gives tournament players 11 days of action with over $1.5 million in guaranteed prize money. New for 2020, an additional bump to the guarantees of some of the series most popular tournaments. Additionally, the $500,000 Main Event comes with a $250 price tag and touts itself as one of the biggest opportunities of the year for recreational players and everyday grinders alike. The complete XL Inferno schedule offers an event for everybody. From high-rollers to the micro-stakes, 888poker has price points that are appealing across the board. Of course, 888poker is running non-stop satellites for all of the premier events on the schedule. Also, with daily freerolls for recent depositors, there’s a variety of ways to get into the biggest events of XL Inferno for the minimum.
  7. May is a massive month for online poker and starting on May 14 888poker will join the party with the return their XL Inferno online poker series. XL Inferno features 34 events spread over 11 days of action and promises more than $1.5 million in total prize money. The series is one of the best values on the 888poker calendar for poker players and this year there’s even more for grinders to fight for as the online poker site has boosted the guarantee in some of the most popular tournaments on the schedule. 888poker is known for its XL Championships. They run three times a year (XL Blizzard, XL Inferno, and XL Eclipse) and feature high-value tournaments at accessible buy-ins. One of the selling points is the guarantees that ensure a healthy boost to the bankroll for those who find themselves deep in an event. However, for the 2020 XL Inferno, 888poker is upping the ante on a handful of tournaments by adding another $90K spread out at every buy-in level. Here are the events on the schedule that now have a little extra to play for. It's Opening Day The Opening Event, which takes place on May 14 this year, is always a big attraction for 888poker. Players who are eager to win themselves an XL title pile into the lobby and make it one of the biggest tournaments of the entire schedule. This year, 888poker has bumped the guarantee from its standard $50,000 up to $75,000 while keeping the buy-in at just $109. Last year, 534 entries plus 192 rebuys pushed the prize pool to over $72,000. In the end, ‘sh4xuR7’ bested longtime 888poker grinder ‘pokerdave128’ in heads up play to take home the title and the $13,721.40 first-place prize. There looks to be plenty of added value in this year’s Opening Event. Either they hit the guarantee and the winner walks with should be a nice five-figure score or the overlay provides a little extra equity for everyone who plays. At the same time that the Opening Event is seeing a boost, those who fire in the Mini Opening Event will also get a nice bump. The guarantee is raised from $20,000 up to $25,000. The value in the Mini Opening Event can be seen just by taking a look at last year’s results. For a $16.50 buy-in, ‘wh4isha3’ topped a field of over 2000 to walk away with a $5,114.25 payday. That was after a three-way deal was struck where each of the top three players padded their bankrolls by more than $3,300. Big Boost For The Tune Up The largest boost to the guarantee arrives with the May 17 Tune Up. Typically, the Sunday event is a warm-up for the Main Event and comes with a $100,000 guarantee. This year they bumped the guarantee by 50% and it will be the $150,000 Tune Up with a $109 buy-in. With the Tune Up landing on a Sunday, the biggest day of the week for online poker, there is always a surge in the player pool. During the 2019 XL Inferno, over 800 entries played in the event as ‘prebzzz’ turned their $109 into a $23,376 score. For 888poker though, this might be a stretch as the prize pool from last year was just $123,750. They’ll need to ride the current wave of online poker popularity to make sure that there’s no overlay. On the same day, 888poker is also giving those who play in the Micro Tune Up a little extra to play for as the guarantee for that event is also seeing a $5,000 raise. It may not feel like a lot for some but when you are entering a $5.50 tournament, the bonus money in the prize pool could help take a player to have the ability to take shots in bigger tournaments. Don't Miss The Main Event The final tournament that is seeing a boost is the $20,000 Micro Main Event which received a $5K jump in 2020. On the final day of the series, those who want to play for the last XL title will only need to buy-in for $5.50 to have a shot at walking away with a four-figure score. Of course, when it comes to the value of playing in an 888poker XL series, the $500,000 Main Event is one of the best opportunities players may have on the site all year. For a $250 buy-in, the Main Event typically promises healthy five-figure scores for the majority of the final table. In last year's XL Inferno Main Event, a three-way deal was agreed to that gave Russia's ‘D3n1sk4PP’ the victory and a $70,252 payday. At the same time ‘LuisRRRRR’ took home $65,502 as the runner-up and ‘lucasfalves9’ picked up over $55,000 for third place. The complete 888poker XL Inferno schedule is available now with satellites running non-stop on the client.
  8. Spring is the time for top online poker providers to strut out a strong online series and 888poker is following suit. The popular XL series returns with XL Inferno starting up on May 10. Players around the world can add a third lobby to their already busy PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker and partypoker Powerfest. A total of 34 events are on the schedule from May 10-20. The grand finale is a $1 million guaranteed Main Event. 888poker offers a great a prize for players who win multiple events. Any player who wins two XL Inferno MTTs claims an extra $1,000. A hat-trick of victories equals $10,000. A grand slam puts the number up to $100,000. If a player runs well enough to win five tournaments, they collect $1 million. All participants who reach at least three XL Inferno final tables have a $600 tournament ticket waiting for them. Eight cashes dishes out a ticket of $215. The Champion of Champions event returns to the fold as well. All 34 winners (assuming there are no multiple XL Inferno event gold medalists) are entered into the popular Champion of Champions tournament to win World Series of Poker prizes. The winner of the Champion of Champions gets a $12,600 WSOP Main Event package. Places #2 and #3 earn a $2,700 Crazy 8s WSOP side event package. All players in the event earn at least a $55 tournament ticket. 9. Day seven of 888poker’s XL Inferno brought out all the high rollers. There were three tournaments on tap, including the biggest buy-in tournament of the entire schedule - the $2,600 High Roller with a $200,000 guarantee.Of course, with some of the largest buy-ins of the series also come some of the biggest payouts. Twelve players added five-figure scores to their bankroll while another 17 entrants walked with four-figures. XL Inferno is now officially past the halfway point. The next time players are likely to see prize pools this big again will be during the $1,050 buy-in $1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event which takes place on the final day of the Championship Series, May 20. Event #16 - $200,000 High Roller If any of 888poker’s biggest players were hanging on the sidelines during XL Inferno, the $2,600 buy-in $200,000 guaranteed High Roller was sure to bring them out. And bring them out it did, 84 players and their 47 rebuys helped destroy the guarantee and augment the prize pool to $327,500. This easily made it the biggest tournament of the series thus far. Along with the largest prize pool comes the biggest winner of the series to date as ‘MisterN411’ from the Netherlands took it down for $90,062. There were some pretty big pay jumps in the final four as ‘MisterN411’ earned nearly $30,000 more than ‘trino11’ who finished as the runner up for $60,587. PocketFiver Tomi ‘wellyxx’ Brouk from Finland will use his fourth place prize of over $31,000 to propel himself to over $6 million in lifetime earnings. The current Worldwide #50-ranked player Doug ‘OU_dlanger610’ Lang made a deep run, bowing out in sixth place for just over $17,000. Also of note: the current #1-ranked player in the world ‘C Darwin2’, playing under his 888poker screen name ‘Isildur1337x’, min-cashed the High Roller for $8,187. Event #17 - $100,000 Mini High Roller 413 players and their 232 rebuys helped increase the Mini High Roller’s prize pool to $129,000. The Netherlands scored their second victory of the day as ‘I__AM_ZLATAN’ bested the field and took home $24,755 for the win. PocketFiver ‘CalmRevolver’ finished in second place adding $18,382 to his $1.3 million in lifetime earnings. A number of other PocketFivers earned four-figure scores in the Mini including former top-50 ranked ‘jadedjason’ from Canada who finished in sixth for $5,482. Russia’s ’Ti0373’ (7th), Luis ‘eduardogarla’ Garla (8th) and Kim ‘Chipsssssss’ Deeker (9th) all made their way to the final table of this one. Event #18 - $30,000 Late High Roller The Late High Roller saw another 181 entrants and their 79 rebuys create a healthy $39,000 prize pool. The tournament sped to a finished, awarding all the prize money in just over 6 hours and 30 minutes. The Late tournament saw even more PocketFivers reaching the final table as Russia’s ‘kassigor’ booked the win for $8,385. He defeated ‘GangstaGo’ denying the Ukranian a second XL Inferno championship and the $1,000 bonus that would have went with it. ‘GangstaGo’ has now finished in each of the top three spots, including his victory in Event #4. For his runner-up performance in this tournament, he added another $6,045 to his XL Inferno haul. Former Worldwide #1-ranked player TJ ‘petitetete’ Ulmer from Canada finished in sixth for $1,950. Ulmer adds that to his already impress $9.1 million in lifetime earnings. Finally, PocketFiver ‘Tydarax’ from Germany wrapped up his tournament in ninth place for $780. 888poker’s XL Inferno continues on Wednesday with three 8-Max tournaments and another $80,000 in guarantees up for grabs. XL Inferno Day 6 Winners # Event Winner Payout 16 $200,000 High Roller 'MisterN411' $90,062 17 $100,000 Mini High Roller 'I__AM_ZLATAN' $24,755 18 $30,000 Late Hight Roller 'kassigor' $8,385
  10. Of the 12 events on the Day 12 888poker XL Inferno, none were bigger than the $215 Quarterback. Thomas 'WushuTM' Muhlocker beat out the 587-player field to win just over $26,000 - the biggest single score on Thursday. That final table also included Adrian 'ADRI_ATM' Mateos. Fresh off of his PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker win, the Spanish phenom finished sixth for $5,892.62. Brazil's 'PudimSedutor' won Event #146 ($30 Deepstack Swordfish) for $4,011.86 and then final-tabled the Quarterback, finishing ninth for $2,079.75. He was one of two players to pull off that feat on Thursday. 'edtastylez92' won Event #144 ($109 Lightning Six Max) for $5,356 and then final-tabled Event #149 ($55 $60,000 R&A), finishing seventh for $2,471.62. Event #149 went to 'edyvpakistan' who took home $14,365.84 after outlasting the 618-player field. The 424 rebuys and 479 add-ons pushed the total prize pool to $76,050, well past the $60,000 guarantee. 11. Hot on the heels of their successful XL Blizzard online series, 888poker is wasting no time in running yet another value-heavy series with the return of XL Inferno. From May 16-26, XL Inferno’s 34-event schedule brings over $1.4 million in total guarantees and, like XL Blizzard before it, it features a $500K GTD Main Event with a buy-in of only $250. The Main Event isn’t the only similarity in the XL schedules. Many of the tournaments that crushed their guarantees in April are back for another go around this May. Also, the same variety in buy-ins can be seen across the two events. Buy-ins for XL Inferno range from as little as $5.50 up through the $320 buy-in of the $100K GTD High Roller. 12. Day 2 of 888poker’s XL Inferno online poker series brought out the bounty hunters as the schedule offered three Progressive Knockout tournaments with a total of $70,000 in guarantees up for grabs. Just like the tournaments offered on Day 1, each of Friday’s title fights surpassed their guarantees offering players four-figure scores for their mid-stakes buy-in. Event #4 - $30,000 PKO Buy-in: $55 Entries: 540 (145 rebuys) Prize Pool: $34,250 It took over nine hours for the biggest buy-in tournament of the day’s slate to reach a conclusion. In the end, it was ‘Tuna_lover’ from the UK who took down the XL Inferno title and over $5,500 ($3,236.80 + $2,283.10 in bounties) for his first place finish. Russia’s ‘Shansovnet’ fired two bullets but in it ended up being worth it as he finished the tournament as the runner-up, adding $2,371.81 + $1,470.66 in bounties to his bankroll. His fellow countryman ‘dieselamq’ took third place for $1,746.75 + $890.63 in bounties. 13. 888poker's XL Inferno continued on Saturday and featured three 8-Max tournaments that promised $55,000 in total guarantees. Event #7 - $30,000 8-Max Buy-in: $109 Entries: 309 (95 rebuys) Prize pool: $40,400 Saturday’s spotlight tournament, the $30,000 8-Max, proved to be popular with players helping the tournament crush its guarantee by more than $10,000. One time XL Blizzard champion ‘LucySagara70’ added a 2019 XL Inferno title to their resume by taking the title and $7,878 for first place, the largest payday of Saturday’s schedule. The PocketFiver is currently running good, sitting at a career-high worldwide ranking of #1,055. With one of the lowest buy-ins of the entire XL Inferno series, the $8.80 Mini 8-Max guarantee was exceeded by over $3,000 promising a few four-figure bankroll boosts for under $10. In the end, the final three players came to three-way deal that gave Brazil’s ‘JMBrotto’ the XL title and $2,048.21 for first place. Romania’s ‘Hotzonicu’ took home $1,740.26 as the runner-up, only about $1.50 more than the posted second place prize. 14. Sunday marked the biggest day yet of 888poker’s spring series, XL Inferno. In an effort to get players ’Tuned Up’ to play next week’s $500K GTD Main Event, the Sunday XL schedule held four tournaments with $180,000 of the series $1.4M worth of guarantees up for grabs. With Sunday traditionally the biggest online grind day of the week, players fired up their 888poker clients and registered and rebought en masse to help push all four tournaments up over their respective guarantees. Event #10 - $100,000 Tune Up Buy-in: $160 Entries: 595 (230 rebuys) Prize pool: $123,750 Through the four days of XL Inferno, the $100,000 Tune Up has been the largest event on the schedule. Not only was the $160 buy-in the biggest to date, but the over $123K prize pool promised players one of the largest first-place prize of the series. After twelve and half hours and a lengthy three-handed battle, former top-ranked UK grinder ‘prebzzz’ defeated former worldwide #1-ranked player ‘KURDEdersim’ (aka current #48-ranked ‘Sheater’) to take home the $100K Turn Up title and $23,376.37. For his part, Sweden’s ‘KURDEdersim’ walked away with $16,953.75 to add to his over $11.6M in lifetime earnings. ‘888topPair’ from the UK finished in third place, earning $12,498.75. This made it a value tournament that players simply couldn’t pass up with 3007 players finding their way into the lobby to battle for a first-place prize in the upper four-figures. It took three bullets and over 11 hours but in the end, ‘Bofral’ bested the large-field to secure the $8,685.21 first place prize and the title of XL Inferno champion. Russia’s ‘IlyaZZZZZZ’ ended up as the runner-up, adding $6,353.61 to his bankroll. ‘FlushJezus’ took home the bronze and $4,604.91 for third place. Event #11 Final Table Payouts 1. Paraguay’s ‘Luegenlord2’ got the biggest bankroll boost of all the micro grinders after he banked $2,101.40 for first place. The result is a 382x return on his single $5.50 bullet. Russia’s ‘sherblemon’ may have fired two times in the tournament, but they will still be happy with the $1,577.38 runner-up prize - a 143x return on his buy-in. PocketFiver Raphael ‘raphaelvgc’ Coelho was the third place to earn over $1K, finishing in third for $1,142.47. Event #12 Final Table Results 1. 15. Day 3 of 888poker’s XL Inferno series focused on their signature Crazy 8 tournaments. Three tournaments guaranteeing, you guessed it, $80,000 in total prize pools. After two days of knocking it out of the park in terms of attendance, the online crowds on Saturday slowed down a little - perhaps saving some energy for Sunday’s massive XL schedule - and two out of the three tournaments provided a little extra value to players in terms of overlay. The day brought three new XL Inferno Champions, all of which will have their opportunity to vie for one of the $2,700 packages that will two players to the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas to play the live version of the Crazy 8’s tournament that gets underway on June 30. Event #6 - $50,000 Crazy 8 The first event of the day was the $88 buy-in version of the Crazy 8 tournament. Attendance was a little light with 438 entries, 153 of which were rebuys. This put those who did fire up the online poker client in a great spot to receive some extra value as the tournament provided about $15,000 in overlay (just over $11,000 if you roll the rake into the prize pool). Any way you look at it, there was some big-time extra money up for grabs. So the prize pool was an even $50,000 and everyone from 8th place on up was going to earn a minimum of $1,000. The top prize of the day, however, was won by ‘eltxupacabra’ when they defeated the UK’s ‘ITonya’ head-up after ten and a half hours of play. eltxupacabra’ took home $9,500 while the British player settled for $7,000 as the runner-up. PocketFiver ’n0tori0us_B’ from Lithuania made a run at the final table, bowing out in sixth for $1,750 which he will add to his over $750,000 in lifetime earnings. He was preceded by fellow PocketFiver ‘FuzzyWigg’ who banked $1,000 for eighth place. Event #7 - $15,000 Mini Crazy 8 The Mini version of the Crazy 8 tournament seems to hit the spot with the players on 888poker as 1,317 entries paid the $8.80 entry fee to surpass the $15,000 guarantee by $384. The Mini Crazy 8 wrapped in just over ten hours with 160 players earning a return on their buy-in. ‘buldos’ emerging as the victor, joined the XL Champions club, and made the largest return on their $8.8, turning it into $2,769.80. The runner-up, ‘PhoenixRuffy’, did well for themselves also, earning eight cents shy of $2,000. Event #8 - $15,000 Late Crazy 8 As is usually the case with the late tournaments, they speed to a conclusion with the $44 Late Crazy 8 taking almost four hours less time to complete that of the $88 tournament. 271 entries, 71 of which were rebuys, left the tournament just shy of the guarantee. Altogether, there was a little over $3,000 in overlay to be picked up by the late registering players. ‘Kaktus26rus’ added yet another XL Championship title to his resume by winning the Late event for $2,925. In September 2017, he earned a win during XL Eclipse and now he’s an XL Inferno champion as well. Right behind him is current XL Inferno champion ‘psyhoagromor’ from the Ukraine who, just days ago, took home over $22,000 for a victory in Event #1. Had ‘psyhoagromor’ finished in first, he would have been the first to claim the $1,000 bonus 888poker is handing out for double event winners. Instead, the Ukranian would settle for an additional $2,175 and the notion that he’s continuing to have an excellent XL series. XL Inferno Day 3 Winners # Event Winner Payout 6 $80,000 Crazy 8 eltxupacabra $9,500 7 $15,000 Mini Crazy 8 buldos $2,769 8 $15,000 Late Crazy 8 Kaktus26rus $2,925
  16. After a massive Sunday, 888poker’s spring championship series, XL Inferno, took a bit of a breather on Monday. Understanding that many players may take the beginning of the week off, the XL Inferno toned the schedule down, but still catered to those who remain on the grind by featuring two tournaments and $55,000 worth of guarantees. Event #14 - $40,000 Rebuy & Add-On The larger of the two tournaments on tap had 361 players post the $55 buy-in with 350 rebuys and 178 add-ons. Altogether the fast-action tournament bested the guarantee and pushed the prize pool to $44,450. Eight of the final nine players added at least four-figures to their bankroll. PocketFivers went one-two in the main contest of the day. ’GoFighter’, the #1-ranked player in all of Belarus, took down the tournament and took home the largest score of the day with his $8,530 first place prize. He overcame the efforts of runner-up ‘cuadrado12’, Sweden’s #11-ranked grinder, who finished the contest by taking home $6,334. ‘GoFighter’ sits just outside the PocketFives Worldwide Top 100, currently ranked #125 in the world and is rapidly working his way to the milestone of $1 million in lifetime earnings. For his part, ‘cuadrado12’ adds to his over $2.6 million in lifetime earnings and with the score, looked to continue his climb inside the Worldwide Top 100 from his current rank of #94. 2017 XL Eclipse Champion ‘Farrugia_1’ from Malta made a run at the final table but bowed out in sixth place for $2,489. Event #15 - $15,000 Mini Rebuy & Add-on Of the few tournaments that have provided overlay, it hasn’t traditionally been those with a more manageable buy-in. But on this Monday, the $5 barely missed the mark and was not able to exceed the promised $15,000. That said, plenty of players enjoyed the added value as 1,159 runners managed 1,247 rebuys and 517 add-ons. In the end, the top four were going to turn their $5 purchases into over $1,000 paydays. PocketFiver Filipe ‘Ov3rTiLt’ Sampaio outlasted the entire field, raking in $2,589 for first place. The XL Inferno prize will be added to his over $430,000 in lifetime earnings as he celebrated a score that ranks in the top 5 of 2018 for him on his Instagram page. Ukrainian ‘YAMAHA1311’ finished in second place, earning $1,875 for his tournament. The High Rollers finally get to jump into the XL Inferno action on Tuesday as three events will get underway including the $2,600 $200,000 High Roller. Some of the biggest names in the online poker game should be mixing it up for some five-figure scores. XL Inferno Day 5 Winners # Event Winner Payout 14 $20,000 Twins Royal 'GoFighter' $8,530 15 $20,000 Twins Flush 'Ov3rTiLt' $2,589
  17. Now in the home stretch towards the $1 million guaranteed Main Event, the 888poker XL Inferno crowned three more champions on Wednesday with Sweden's 'LivinThDream' grabbing the biggest score of all as the only player to pocket a five-figure score. Event #19: $50,000 Eight Max Three days ago, Sweden's 'LivinThDream' finished third in XL Inferno Event #10 to come oh-so-close to an XL Inferno title. He avoided a repeat of that close call on Wednesday after beating out 458 other players to win Event #19 ($50,000 Eight Max) for $12,578. Greek grinder Misailidis 'xanthifan' Kostas picked up $9,268 for finishing as runner-up. Argentina's 'SHIGAON770' finished third for $6,792.12. 18. 888poker’s latest championship series, XL Inferno, reached its grand conclusion on Sunday, highlighted by the $1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event. In total, there was $1.32 million in guarantees up for grabs over the course of four tournaments. The juicy prize pools enticed players to create some of the largest fields of the entire series and helped all four contests crushed their guarantees. The last day of XL Inferno saw players take home the largest payouts of the entire 11 days. Event #31 - $120,000 Mega Deep There was plenty of value to be had in the second Mega Deep event of the series. 507 players provided an additional 237 rebuys of the $215 buy-in to push the prize pool to $148,800. Longtime PocketFiver ‘Zebest7r’ from Canada outlasted the Netherlands’ ‘InJeBakkes’ to take home the $28,123 first place prize. The cash, which is only his fifth in 2018, ranks among the Canadian’s best and is added to over $1.6 million in lifetime earnings. For his part, ‘InJeBakkes’ doesn’t log off too disappointed, banking $20,608 for his runner-up prize. Also of note: $50,000 Crazy 8 winner ‘eltxupacabra’ finished in fourth place for $11,457 and the #71-ranked player in the world, ‘LeshiyAS’ ended up in eighth for $3,348, his fifth cash of the series. Two-time XL Inferno champ ’Sluuut123’ just missed the final table, bowing out in tenth place for $1,785. Event #32 - $1,000,000 Main Event The Main Event soared past its guarantee as 855 players (304 rebuys) paid their $1,050 entry fee to create a massive $1,159,000 prize pool. The payouts were far and away the most of any of the 34 events on the entire XL Inferno schedule and including three six-figure scores going to those who made it to the end. The winner was one of the UK’s brightest up-and-coming online players, Jonathan ‘JohnFoot’ Proudfoot. Proudfoot is currently the #30-ranked player in the world and just days ago, posted a career-high score of over $185,000 with a runner-up finish in Event #40-H of PokerStars’ SCOOP series. Now, less than one week later, he eclipsed his own personal best yet again as he earned XL Inferno's top prize of $209,779 and the title of Main Event champion. The score pushed the Durham based pro past the major milestone of $2 million in lifetime earnings. Taking second place was Finland’s superstar Tomi ‘wellyxx’ Brouk who added just over $150,000 to the already stellar $31,000 score he earned for taking fourth in the $2,600 XL Inferno High Roller. Top-100 ranked ‘que_te_crio’ from the UK ended his Main Event in sixth place for $48,098, helping him climb to over $1.8 million in lifetime earnings. Also earning five-figure scores for reaching the final table was Brazil’s Felipe ‘mr.salgado’ Salgado who cashes out for over $36,500 and former top-10 ranked ‘ekziter1’ who wrapped up the series with $25,613. Event #33 - $150,000 Mini Main The second largest tournament of the day saw 934 runners (and their 404 rebuys) generate a prize pool of just over $200,000, ensuring that the top five runners would all walk away with five-figure scores. In the end, a deal was made between a pair of players from Malta. ‘pAAdentr0’ was declared the winner of the Mini Main and negotiated for the lion share of the first place prize. 'pAAdentr0' ended up with $33,832, surrendering a little under $2,300 of the posted first place in order to bring the contest to an end. His countryman, ‘Openpunks’ was on the other end of the heads-up deal and received $28,384 for second place. A pair of PocketFivers reached the final nine as well. Montreal, Canada’s ‘alexos888’ bowed out in sixth place, cashing for a name-appropriate $8,108.28, marking his third cash of the series. Also, ’carpediem14’, the #1-ranked player out of Kent, UK finished in seventh for $6,101. The score was a nice follow-up to his first-place finish in Event #65 of partypoker’s POWERFEST where he earned over $54,000. Event #34 - $50,000 Micro Main The final event of the 2018 XL Inferno series was the $30 buy-in Micro Main. The lower buy-in helped attract the most runners of the day as 1,672 players (703 rebuys) generated a prize pool worth $65,312.50. PockerFivers dominated the tournament endgame with five players making the final table, including the heads-up battle. Russian ‘SergeyRusko’ battles it out with Kim ‘Chipsssssss’ Decker for the final spot in the Champion of Champions tournament. After a back-and-forth battle, it was ‘SergeyRusko’ who broke Decker and walked with $11,032, leaving him just under $10,000 to reach his $500,000 lifetime career earnings badge. Decker’s impressive finish was his fifth XL Inferno cash and his largest at that. He earned $7,850 which easily pushed him over $250,000 lifetime. ‘adamka88’ from Hungary finished in third for $3,102 and right behind him in sixth place was fellow Hungarian ‘emzo2008’ who collected $2,481 for his efforts. Finally, Thiago ‘quen8’ Galdino from Brazil earned just enough to push him over $50,000 in career earnings, adding $705 to his bankroll. Along with the second place finish, he had a third place finish (Event #140 - $109 Tornado) and a sixth place finish (Event #131 - $109 Lightning Six Max). The three cashes were worth a combined $9,675.25. Bustillo was the only player to make three final tables but there were seven others who made two. Brazil's 'jxangai' won Event #139 ($35 Wednesday Challenge) for $8,167.68 and then finished fifth in Event #136 ($109 Lightning Six Max) for $1,281.12. To go along with his runner-up finish in Event $137, 'Namlleh' also posted fifth place finish in Event #131. 'AcesJoker88', '974kWRT', 'kinsQ', 'LAlpine' and 'midein' also had two final table appearances on Wednesday. Guilherme 'ImASpaceman' Cheveau, the #99-ranked player in the world and #8 in Brazil, took down Event #136 ($109 Lightning Six Max) for $6,534.37. 22. Whether you are looking to boost your bankroll by battling in some of the biggest tournaments of the year or simply taking a shot in a large-player prize pool, 888poker’s XL Inferno series has something to offer. Only one month after the successful conclusion of XL Blizzard, 888poker has decided to run it back with another 34-event series that caters to the high-stakes tournament players, mid-stakes grinders and low-rollers who are looking to make the leap. So, for players that are looking to capture a five-figure score or 100x a smaller buy-in, XL Inferno has multiple tournaments that fit the bill. Here are five MUST-PLAY events from the 2019 XL Inferno schedule. Event #32 - $500K XL Inferno Main Event Buy-in: $250 Date: May 26 If there is one tournament on the schedule that players are going to be sure not to miss it’s the $500K GTD Main Event. Just like during XL Blizzard, the Main Event buy-in sits at a comfortable lower $250 price point. This is essentially the same Main Event from the series in April which saw the guarantee get obliterated as 1,783 players (531 rebuys) pushed the prize pool north of $543K. ‘.RUIT.HORA.’ took down the tournament and walked away with over $91K added to their bankroll. As a matter of fact, eight of the final nine players took home five-figure paydays. Satellites into the Main Event are running all the time. During the series, new depositors will have access to a daily freerolls which promises 12 seats per day. Otherwise, there are daily satellites running for just $5.50 that helps just about anybody take a shot in what will likely offer the biggest payday of the entire series. Event #11 - $50K Mini Tune-Up Buy-in: $16.50 Date: May 19 The $50K Mini Tune-Up offers one of the biggest values on the schedule with its large guarantee and very accessible $16.50 buy-in. In addition to the favorable buy-in-to-prize pool ratio, the Mini Tune-Up is one of the tournaments that have direct satellites running routinely. This is helping the field get jam-packed and gives the $50K guarantee a better shot at getting crushed. The structure is good too. 50,000 in starting chips with blinds increasing every 12 minutes, however, if things don’t go according to plan - this is also a tournament where you can fire multiple shots as it allows for three rebuys for the first few hours. Event #20 - $50K Progressive Knockout Buy-In: $109 Date: May 22 There’s no doubt about it - Progressive Knockout tournaments are popular. And why wouldn’t they be? The format puts extra stakes on every hand you play knowing that if you eliminate your opponent you’re going to pick up some extra cash right then and there. Out of the 34-event schedule, nine are PKO’s and so, if you only pick one, Event #20, the $50K PKO is the one to make sure you get in on. It’s not the highest priced PKO offered during the series, but the buy-in is on the higher side making it so your adrenaline will really get pumping during the later stages when battling with players with large bounties on their heads. Event #8 - $10K Mini 8-Max Buy-In: $8.80 Date: May 18 This is one for the low-rollers and micro shot-takers. The $8.80 Mini 8-Max is essentially XL Inferno’s version of the Crazy 8’s and if gives players who are on more of a budget a shot at turning less than $10 into over $1,000. The tournament has a good structure starting players off with over 160 big blinds and 10-minute levels. The tournament was a popular one during XL Blizzard as the prize pool exceeded $12,500 and the top two players brokered a deal that sent them both home with more than $1,500. ‘flipsticks’ took home the title in April and over $2,300. That’s 261x his entry fee. Not a bad way to build a bankroll. Event #17 - $100K High Roller Buy-In: $320 Date: May 21 Keeping our range wide, we also recommend the $100K GTD High Roller for those players with the bankroll to afford to take this shot. Not only is it the second largest guarantee on the schedule but the first place prize will certainly be a healthy five-figure sum. However, the large guarantee and sizable payout isn’t the only reason this tournament makes the list. We need only go back to April to see that the High Roller was one of the very few tournaments during XL Blizzard that offered overlay. In fact, the same tournament during XL Blizzard gave players over $10,000 in extra equity which in-the-know players scooped up. It will likely have one of the more difficult fields of the series, but for those that make a run at the High Roller title, a nice payday awaits. Take a look at the full schedule of 888poker's XL Inferno right here.
  23. 888poker’s signature online poker series XL Inferno returned on Thursday promising players a full-featured 34-event series with over $1.4 million in guarantees over the course of eleven days. The opening day saw players flock to three different Opening Events with $90,000 in total guarantees up for grabs. Players were obviously eager for the return of an XL series as all three tournaments on the schedule crushed their posted guarantees giving grinders plenty of money up top to fight for, including a pair of five-figure scores. Event #1 - $50,000 Opening Event Buy-In: $109 Entries: 534 (192 Rebuys) Prize pool: $72,600 Officials at 888poker must have been thrilled to see that the XL Inferno's $109 Opening Event proved to be extremely popular with its $50,000 guarantee crushed by over $22,000. The biggest beneficiary of the juiced prize pool was Austria’s ‘sh4xuR7’ who took home the $13,721.40 first place prize, the top prize of XL Inferno Day 1. The Austrian defeated the UK’s ‘pokerdave128’ who also earned himself a five-figure score, winning $10,055.10 as the runner up. The third place finisher was Russia’s ‘Alex_Vol’ who won $7,405.20. Event #1 Final Table Payouts 1. sh4xuR7 - $13,721.40 2. pokerdave128 - $10,055.10 3. Alex_Vol - $7,405.20 4. jmsantos10 - $5,590.20 5. IMDool - $3,920.40 6. Farrugia_1 - $3,085.50 7. INCURSIO - $2,359.50 8. n0sferatv - $1,633.50 9. exPROsjak - $1,110.78 Event #2 - $20,000 Mini Opening Event Buy-In: $16.50 Entries: 1,468 (582 Rebuys) Prize pool: $30,750 With the guarantee crushed by over $10,000, there was more money up top in the Mini Opening Event than 888poker usually gets with a $16.50 buy-in. Perhaps that’s what led to the final three players agreeing on a deal that locked up healthy four-figure scores for each. Malta’s ‘wh4tisha3’ ended up with the largest piece of the three-handed deal as he took home $5,114.25 and will officially be known as the XL Inferno champion. His heads up opponent was PocketFiver ‘k29mario’ who earned $3,566.92 for one of his largest scores of 2019. The third member of the deal was Romania’s ‘zotto18’ who turned his second bullet into a $3,308.59 a payday. Event #2 Final Table Payouts 1. wh4tisha3 - $5,114.25 2. k29mario - $3,566.92 3. zotto18 - $3,308.59 4. F.Lupo - $2,091 5. AMG_people - $1,522.12 6. xxtomasxx - $1,214.62 7. Karenina3425 - $907.12 8. IcruAI - $599.62 9. ClaretBantam - $332.10 Event #3 - $20,000 Late Opening Event Buy-In: $55 Entries: 434 (145 Rebuys) Prize pool: $28,950 It took just under seven hours for the title in the $20,000 Late Opening Event to be awarded. With the prize pool cruising to nearly $9,000 more than the guarantee, the difference between first and second place was just under $1,500. The final two players, who were close in chips, opted to make a deal that promised both players over $4,700 for their $55 buy-in. The UK’s ‘elephant107’ walked away with the XL Inferno title and $4,747.24 after the deal. However, it was Finland’s ‘winlikefedor’ that took home the largest payday, securing himself $4,806.37 before bowing out in second place. Sweden’s ‘MorayEEEEEL’ took home the bronze, adding $2,967.37 to his $220,000 in lifetime career earnings. The Swede is currently at a career-high ranking of #520 in the world. Event #3 Final Table Payouts 1. elephant107 -$4,747.24 2. winlikefedor - $4,806.37 3.
