Markku Makes $5 Million Mark ‘markovitsus’ Koplimaa, the #78-ranked online player in the world, crossed the major milestone of $5 million in lifetime earnings. A top-40 finish in the PokerStars Sunday 500 brought him $1,103 which was enough to put him in the elite company of those players that are half-way to the $10 million mark. Koplimaa seems to climb the pay scales by playing every and any tournament on the PokerStars schedules. Aidonopoulos got a huge lift in getting there back on February 4 when he scored a pair of five-figure results on the same day. He finished in the top 100 of the PokerStars Sunday Million 12th Anniversary for $11,510 and then took down the Hotter $44 for an additional $10,844. 5. April often opens with a day dedicated to Fools, but this year some of online poker's biggest stars shined brightest all month long - including the most-decorated player in PocketFives history. Moorman, 'bencb789', Nitsche, Leonard Grab Sunday Majors Wins Chris Moorman has won more PocketFives Triple Crowns than anybody else and he tops the all-time online poker tournament earnings list by a very healthy margin. In April, he added to his resume by winning the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up. That win earned him $39,343 and pushed him closer to the $15 million lifetime earnings mark. The final table included Dennys Ramos, Bruno Volkmann and 'girafganger7'. READ: SUNDAY MAJORS: Chris Moorman Conquers Sunday Warm-Up Moorman wasn't the only big name to pick up a big Sunday score. One week after Moorman won the Sunday Warm-Up, high stakes crusher 'bench789' beat Andrew 'eastwest_27' Theriault heads-up to win the event for $51,562.79. WSOP.com, the only online operator working in the two big states, announced in April that they would be making interstate liquidity a reality on May 1. With interstate liquidity, players in New Jersey would be able to play the WSOP online bracelet events for the first time in history. The British pro, who has two major online titles to his credit, picked up his first World Poker Tour title in April, winning the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown. Margereson beat out a final table that included Jeff Fielder, Matt Stout, Brian Hastings and Faraz Jaka to pick up nearly $700,000 and a seat in the WPT Tournament of Championship. One year later, WSOP executives admitted the system was flawed and announced a totally revamped system for 2018. The new system better-rewarded players for wins and deep runs and placed far less emphasis on a min-cash. Garry Gates, an executive with PokerStars, was one of the 22,000 in attendance that night but thankfully avoided injury. Six months after the shooting, Gates looked back at how he managed to stay alive that night, how the events changed him and how he realized how much Las Vegas meant to him in the aftermath of that horrible event. A whopping $1,000,043.77 of that came from winning the PokerStars Sunday Million Anniversary: Take 2 on April 22. That win also gave him 3,355.89 PLB points which, combined with the 584.54 he picked up over the course of the rest of the month, was enough for him to win the April PLB race. He beat out names like 'C Darwin2' (sixth place), 'hellohellohello' (fifth place), and runner-up 'lena900' to claim the crown.
  6. Uruguay's 'pasula09' battled through a 10,232 field in the PokerStars $109 Sunday Million to turn $109 into $106,859. The guarantee was hit after the prize pool was set at $1,023,200, with a place at the final table of nine worth $7,632. After the field had been cut to just the final three, Brazil's José 'neto gol' Queiroz da Costa Neto picked up his second Sunday Million bronze medal three years after his first, and this time collected $55,238. The final battle saw former SCOOP champion Fedor 'ftruncev' Truntsev just missed out on adding another accolade to his poker CV, and departed as runner-up for $76,826, with 'pasula09' crowned the champion. Paul 'topdoll827' Newey defeated the recently unmasked 'bencb789' to win the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $37,895. The prize pool was set at $156,000 after 78 entries took part. Canada's Sam 'Str8$$$Homey' Greenwood took fifth place for $14,345, with Thomas 'WushuTM' Mühlöcker banking $18,288 in fourth. Mustapha 'lasagnaaammm' Kanit collected the bronze medal for $23,315, before 'bencb789' who this week revealed his identity to the world for the first time via his 'RaiseYourEdge' youtube channel, fell at the final hurdle for $29,724, as Newey picked up the win. The PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller title went to 'schocer' after they topped a 829 player-field to bank over $53,000. 'schocer' defeated 'ZiZZi_7707' heads-up to win the final bounty battle and collected $28,527 + $25,300 in bounties following a money-deal. 'ZiZZi_7707' added $32,178 + $18,167 to their bankroll as runner-up, with 'leitalopez' taking third place for $18,820 + $2,273. Jordan 'JWPRODIGY' Westmorland took down PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $25,485 after topping a 250 player-field. Thailand based American player got the better of 'LeslieGroves' heads-up, with the latter departing as runner-up with $18,494. 'LaurinKing' collected the bronze medal alongside $13,421. 'SchelampigaUhu' won $21,600 after beating Thomas 'onehundredeyes' Mühlöcker heads-up in the partypoker $1,050 Sunday High Roller DeepStack. The prize pool just crept over the $75,000 guarantee after 76 entries took to the tables, and 'mogvision' took away $10,260 in third-place, paving the way for 'SchelampigaUhu' to win the final battle, and eliminating Mühlöcker into second-place for $14,820. Over on GGPoker, 'LaurisL91' and 'ImLividBuddy' both added Sunday Blade $5k titles to their names. Both players came through 32 player-fields to claim their respective wins and were each awarded with a top prize worth $64,840. 'LaurisL91' defeated 'pDNA' to claim their victory, while 'Olekonjole' fell as runner-up at the hands of 'ImLividBuddy.' 7. Sometimes the high stakes just aren’t high enough. As a pair of major online tournament series gets ready to kick off, four of online poker’s very best players have made public a six-figure side bet to run alongside the massive schedules of partypoker’s POWERFEST and PokerStars’ Spring Championship of Online Poker. The high profile bet pairs the partypoker ambassador and online high-stakes regular Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard and ‘bencb789’ against the Swedish super duo of ‘lena900’, currently the #3-ranked player in the PocketFives Worldwide Rankings, and the only player to be ranked as the best online player in the world in 2018, ‘C Darwin2’. The details of the high stakes heavyweight bout were laid out on social media on Wednesday. Each pair tallies their combined cashes in tournaments with buy-ins of $109 or greater and a minimum $100,000 prize pool. All tournaments that fall under this category in both POWERFEST and SCOOP count as do any agreed upon tournaments that may occur during the May 6-21 timespan. According to Leonard, all of the tournaments in the scope of the bet have already been agreed upon by both teams. Players must play the selected events and can only opt out of playing an event (making it not count) if their team is behind in the challenge. As if the guarantees of both SCOOP and POWERFEST weren’t enough, there’s a combined $150 million in guarantees between them, the bet is for an undisclosed figure north of $100,000. One may wonder with so much on the line why would these four online superstars risk even more of their bankroll. Perhaps it's to feel properly motivated or a brewing rivalry? “It's just for fun.,” said Leonard. “They [‘C Darwin2’ and ‘lena900’] are seen as the best MTT players in the world and we are very confident in ourselves too. I don't think either side has a huge edge but it's fun to gamble like this and it's good for the community to follow along. When you play by yourself in a series and when things go bad it's easy to start punting. When you're part of a team, and Ben will be counting on me playing my A-game, then it means I'll play as focused as possible so my overall EV from the series increases.” The combined series will literally have hundreds of tournaments, many of which fall under the guidelines of the side bet. With a heavy playing schedule and the additional motivation of a public prop bet Leonard explains that he’ll be on a tight regimen. “I will wake up at 3 pm CET every day. I do 30-minute exercise with bitB players online and then I have a cold shower and meditate. My food delivery comes just after then, I eat, very short second meditation and then start playing around 4:30 pm CET,” Leonard said. “I register until around 10 pm and usually the session finishes around 4 am. Every day we will play dozens of tournaments, there are huge tournaments this year, lots of 5Ks, 10Ks, and 25Ks.” As if the grind weren’t difficult enough, Leonard and his partner ‘bencb789’, who is generally considered one of the best tournament players in the world as well, have decided to poke the elk (the official animal of Sweden). The opposition is two of the most consistent, winningest online players of the past year. Both ‘C Darwin2’ and ‘Lena900’ have the utmost respect of their peers based on their stellar results and the pair have a seemingly unquenchable thirst for online poker. Combined, the pair have accumulated nearly $19 million in lifetime earnings. “I think they are both amazing players, but more importantly very good guys,” Leonard says of those he’s up against in the bet. “I enjoy betting against them and when they win and cost me money I'm genuinely happy for their success. They've always been really good losers in the past too. Their results speak for themselves and I couldn't have any more respect or admiration for them, even if Niklas [‘Lena900’] won't give us the odds we deserve.” The bet generated instant interest from fans as well as the oddsmakers at PokerShares who worked quickly to set lines for which of the dynamic duos would out-cash the other. Clearly, for Leonard, this is one of his favorite times of the year. While some make World Series of Poker bracelet bets to add action to summer, Leonard, one of bitB Staking's head coach, puts it all on the line in the biggest online series of the year. A former #1-ranked online player in his own right, Leonard has a new dedication to the online game to go along with his latest prop bet. “I don't really care about live poker anymore. I’ve retired from it to make sure I'm the best online MTT player in the world. I skipped Barcelona, Monaco, and Montreal to work ten hours every day for the last few months," Leonard said. "I couldn't be more prepared and this is what I live for. I absolutely love online tournament series, it's my drug.” Leonard said on his Twitter that he will be posting results as they happen during the course of the two series. Both partypoker’s POWERFEST and PokerStars SCOOP online series get underway on May 6.
  8. While Sunday marked the beginning of both partypoker Powerfest and the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker, the headlines instead went to 'Bencb789', who came second in the 888poker $100,000 Sunday Whale for $23,680 and helped 'Team BITBRYE' into an early lead against 'Team Sweden' in their six-figure prop bet.Patrick ‘pleno1’ Leonard confirmed earlier this week that he would be teaming up with RaiseYourEdge head coach 'Bencb789' to take part in a six-figure prop bet against the Swedish duo of 'Lena900' and 'C.Darwin2'. As the first day's play came to an end, it was 'Team BITB RYE' who took the advantage after 'Bencb789', playing under the alias 'f0rmEitseGal', pipped 'C.Darwin2' to second place in the 888poker Whale, after the Swede, could only manage a fourth-place finish for $12,160. https://twitter.com/raiseyouredge/status/993353498199638016 It seems this prop bet will be getting a lot of attention over the next few weeks as the four players go to battle across the all the spring online poker events. As the before mentioned PokerStars SCOOP series begun yesterday, the Sunday Million and Sunday Warm-Up are being played out as two-day tournaments and set to resume Monday at 18:00 WET. Ben 'Ben86' Tollerene and 'yongminbae' were the big winners across the completed PokerStars events yesterday after they took down the $2,100 Sunday High Roller and $530 Bounty Builder High Roller respectively. 2015 WCOOP SHR winner 'Ben86' beat 'ekziter' heads-up to claim the $54,358 first-place prize, while 'yongminbae' came through a field of 1,145 entrants and added $46,577 to their bankroll. Also, Roman 'RomeOpro' Romanovsky made the first of his two 'Sunday Major' final tables this week after finishing in fourth-place in the $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $23,926. partypoker began their latest Powerfest series with three $1m Gtd events across its opening day. 1,703 entrants went to battle in the Powerfest #04-HR $530 $1m Gtd Championship Event with 'sk2ll_m0dR' defeating New Zealand's 'hamishc2' heads-up after both players agreed to a deal. 'sk2ll_m0dR' took away $144,874, with 'hamishc2' beating his previous best recorded online cash of $10,375 by some margin after claiming $143,525. 'alex2pairs' was the winner in the Powerfest #03-SHR $5,200 $1m PKO Championship Event for $99,992 after coming through the 196 strong field. 'TorTor2012' took second-place for $72,579 with 'JohnBoy_' winning $51,737 for third. Roman 'SanityWaterline' Romanovsky appeared at his second major final table of the day in the $1,050 Powerfest #05-HR PKO $1m Gtd Championship Event and repeated his earlier fourth-place finish to win $27,272. 'MonkMode' took the victory for $85,914 after beating 'Ignent' into second-place from the 999 player field for $61,538. Sweden's 'Algorhytm' was pipped at the post in the Powerfest #04-H $109 $200k Gtd event and had to settle for the runners-up prize of $29,742. The current PocketFives world no.#7 succumbed to 'omar091365' heads-up who banked $42,038 and the title. As previously mentioned, 'bencb789' was this week's 888poker $100,000 Whale runner-up and it was 'AceSpade11' who had the honor of beating him for the first-place prize of $35,200. Last but not least, 'GangstaGo' turned $215 into $19,500 after coming through a field of 311 entrants in the 888poker Sunday Mega Deep. 'PokerJoe332' was the player to lose the heads-up clash for $14,500, with 'Flopzilla_XD' having to settle for $11,000 in third. 9. 'Bencb789, 'GirafGanger7' and Jamie 'Ship it 2010' O'Connor were among the big Sunday winners as Roman Romanovsky and 'hello_totti' picked up silver medals. The biggest prize of the day unsurprisingly came in the PokerStars $109 Sunday Million, after 'Lucky_Jew_17' came through the gigantic 11,525 player-field to bank $117,222. Canada's 'BigStick91' recorded by far their biggest online score to date for $61,729 after a third-place finish, and when the heads-up battle finally came to its conclusion, 'Iv Run' exited in second-place for $85,061. 'DRONCHEK' got the better of Russia's #1 ranked online player 'hello_totti' to win the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller. Current world #3 'C.Darwin2' took eighth place before Conor '1_conor_b_1' Beresford continued his recent run of high roller results by taking fourth place for $26,237. 'Malaka$tyle' banked $33,916 and the bronze medal before 'hello_totti' fell in second place for $43,842, which allowed 'DRONCHEK' to come through the 135 player-field and pick up the $56,673 first-place prize. The UK's Jamie 'Ship it 2010' O'Connor topped a 1,184 player-field to bank over $84,000 in the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller. PokerStars Team Pro Igor Kurganov finished in fifth place for $13,462 + $656 in bounties before 'mx.k' took fourth for $18,366 + $8,940. 'KuuL' departed in third place for $25,057 + $4,777, which saw O'Connor face off against 'anteen' for the win. The latter was unable to get the better of the Brit and collected $34,184 + $12,216 as runner-up, as O'Connor secured the top prize. 'fellatiado' defeated '69sBigLick' heads-up to win the PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $32,681. A 997 player-field created a $199,400 prize pool with 'rofllocktree' finishing in third place for $17,211.
