  1. Apostolis ‘apostolis20’ Bechrakis Hits $5 Million The #1 ranked player in all of Greece, Apostolis 'apostolis20' Bechrakis soared past $5 million in lifetime earnings this week. Bechrakis, who also is ranked #62 in the world (up from #75 last week), took down the PokerStars $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for $19,769 to pass the major milestone. It was all part of a pretty big week for the Grecian grinder in which he cashed in total for over $44,000. Bechrakis has really been doubling down on his volume recently and, incredibly, made the money 22 times on January 21 alone. Guntis ‘lovefee’ Aleskins Scores A Double Milestone Latvian online poker pro Guntis ‘lovefee’ Alaskans has two reasons to celebrate this week. First, he rocketed past $4 million in lifetime earnings when he finished as the runner-up in the PokerStars $215 Sunday Warm-Up for $33,868. To go along with that, he went deep in a number big-time events and racked up four PLB qualifying cashes for over 900 PLB points helping him achieve a career-high ranking of #12 in the world. He is virtually knocking on the door of the worldwide top 10, sitting less than 40 points behind the current threshold to leap into elite company. $3 Million for Brazil’s ‘brunovolks’ Top 10 Brazilian player ‘brunovolks’ also passed a major money milestone when a final table appearance at the PokerStars $109 Sunday Kickoff resulted in a cash of $7,262. The bankroll boost pushed him past the $3 million lifetime earnings marker and brought him over $10,000 in cashes for the week. Joining ‘brunovolks’ in hitting new highs were fellow Brazilian Luis ‘eduardogarla’ Garla and Germany’s ‘orgi’ both of whom officially made their first million in online earnings this week. Gary ‘quiditbear’ Hassen Continues His Rankings Rise Gary ‘quiditbear’ Hasson has been a staple in the Milestones column for weeks now, steadily grinding his way up the Worldwide Rankings ladder. This week he makes his debut in the top 25 at #23 after racking up nearly 500 PLB points for taking down the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller for $38,847. In fact, it was a busy week for players hitting new career-highs in the rankings. Ten players found themselves hitting new rankings heights including ‘rudinhos’ who makes his debut in the top 100, checking in at #99. 'rudinhos' jumped 14 spots this week by making the most of his opportunities. He only recorded seven cashes this week but four of the were qualifying cashes bringing him over 383 PLB points, good enough check in as a top 100 player. Career High Rankings In The Top 100 rudinhos - #113 to #99 Futti18 - #98 to #96 daltonhb - #86 to #71 neverfoldQ5 - #66 to #64 dulek - #84 to #61 untaktik - #63 to #54 nsmirnov - #53 to #48 Flat - #44 to #43 Gary 'quiditbear' Hasson - #31 to #23 Guntis 'lovefee' Aleskins - #17 to #12
  2. This week’s PocketFives Milestones features players hitting new marks by the millions and one of the world’s top-ranked players adding to his legacy. Andres ‘probirs’ Nemeth cracked the $7 million mark in career earnings and boosted his status as the #4 players in the world. Nemeth won a $250 Sunday tournament on January 7 for $37,529 to officially put himself over $7 million in lifetime earnings Millionaires Add More Millions The newest player to join the $4 million club is ‘dulek.’ Hailing from Papa New Guinea, ‘dulek’ used a win last weekend in a $100,000 guaranteed Warm Up event worth $38,070 to jump over the hump. Two players made it over $3 million in career earnings this week. Egor ‘Egorrr’ Boriskin and Sami ‘LarsLuzak’ Kelopuro are both over the barrier in respective careers that span back to the late-2000s. Kelopuro pulled off a runner-up finish in the PokerStars Sunday $2,000 MTT, continuing his tradition of maximizing limited tournament volume. Points Galore for PocketFivers Alexandros ‘mexican222’ Kolonias achieved a career-high score in terms of PLB points. Kolonias earned 985.66 PLB points for taking the silver medal in a $2.2 million prize pool event on PokerStars. Nearly halfway through the month, Kolonias is challenging for a spot in the PLB Monthly Leaderboard. Also earning an all-time best point total is Maszat ‘noirduck’ Marci. Marci shipped the Sunday Grand for $123,254 and 850.88 PLB points. As a result of outlasting a 3,754 player field on PokerStars, Bernardo ‘betsoares’ Soares collected 612.70 PLB points. That total is the third-best among PocketFivers for the week. New Heights Reached in the Rankings A few players made large strides in the rankings and Guntis ‘lovefee’ Aleskins is tops among that group. The #1 player in Latvia is a career-high 17th in the Worldwide Rankings. Aleskins could be featured again in the Milestones soon enough as he is less than $100,000 away from reaching $4 million in earnings. Jonathan 'proudflop' Proudfoot advanced up to #23, giving him a new career-best. Proudfoot won the partypoker High Roller on January 10 for an even 200 points, allowing him to ascend to where he stands now. In the poker-hungry United Kingdom, Proudfoot is fourth overall. Last week, Proudfoot jumped from #34 to #28 and is working his way higher with each week. 3. The top-ranked player in Hungary, Andras 'probirs' Nemeth, won over $500,000 on Day 5 of the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker and in the process prevented Roman 'RomeOpro' Romanovsky from collecting an astounding third title of the series. With the bumper buy-in Low, Medium and High Event #14 tournaments all coming to a conclusion on Thursday, the results saw 12 players collect six-figure scores, including Romanovsky who made it to heads-up play on his third bullet in the $25,000 buy-in 'High' and was looking to achieve his third win of the series after taking down Event #16 (High) the day before and Event #2 (High) on Monday. But, Nemeth was the man in his way and ultimately prevented the Ukrainian from achieving the feat to claim his own third career SCOOP title and the first-place prize of $576,087. Romanovsky received $442,299 as runner-up which left the current #12-ranked player in the world less than $200,000 away from the $10M career earnings accolade. Guntis 'poker@luffyD' Aleskins picked up his largest recorded online result to date after banking $240,765 for victory in Event #14 (Medium). Former Sunday Million runner-up Aleskins defeated 'engantil' heads-up for the win, with the latter taking away $171,625 for second place. Also on the final table was 'Lena900' who collected $87,208 in fourth-place and helped 'Team Sweden' close the gap on 'Team BITBRYE' in their much talked about six-figure series prop bet. The UK's Ben 'jenbizzle' Jones overcome Brazil's Ivanildo Limeira in Event #14 (Low) to pick up his first SCOOP title, and a career-best recorded online cash of $162,039. Jones, who is a former Super Tuesday, Sunday Warm-Up and Sunday Supersonic champion, came through the 5,700 entrants field and navigated his way to victory on a final table that also featured 2017 WCOOP Main event third-place finisher, Machadada RS, and Chester20o. Event #15 saw three six-max PLO rebuy tournaments take place with 'Maizeruba', 'igor69' and 'Tr!pleeeee' all adding SCOOP titles to their names. 'Maizeruba' won $9,872 after coming through a 3,891 player field in the 'Low' and 'igor69' was the victor in the 'Medium' for $32,858, after seeing off former Pocketfives world no.#1 'cal42688' into third place. In the 'High' 'Tr!pleeeee' took away a cool $87,042 after beating Mike 'goleafsgoeh' Leah, Jerry 'Perrymejsen' Ödeen and Adam 'adamyid' Owen on the final table. Christopher 'Apotheosis92' Kruk, who featured on the Event #16 (Medium) final table on Day 4, made another SCOOP appearance on Day 5 after collecting the silver medal in Event #13 (High) Triple Draw 2-7 for $38,850. The Canadian was beaten to the top prize of $57,720 by 'merla888' after they successfully came through the 111 player field. 'TheRabbitFR' made up for their runner-up spot in Event #10 (Medium) by going all the way in Event 13 (Medium) to win $15,480. 'TheRabbitFR' beat 'SexualDrag0n' in heads-up play, on a final table that saw Pocketfives members 'komarolo22' and 'hummylun' achieve fourth and fifth place respectively. In Event #13 (Low), 'hapsmoney' beat out 1,726 other entrants to earn the victory and $5,441. 'Flakon2010' was rewarded with $4,058.45 for second place with 'Moergi' picking up $3,022.45 in third place.
