  2. Every week The PocketFives Milestone Report looks at the online poker players who are achieving career-best achievement or reaching new heights in the rankings C Darwin2 Top $7 Million Lifetime Earnings October’s PLB winner and current #1-ranked online player on the planet, Sweden’s ‘C Darwin2’ added a new accolade to his ever-growing list of accomplishments this week when he surpassed $7 million in lifetime earnings. Not only did he fly right by the benchmark, he did it in style by outright winning the PokerStars $215 Fat Thursday for over $16,000. His victory was one of three top 3 finishes over the course of the week, resulting in over $50,000 in cashes. At this rate, it will only be a few weeks before the Swede returns to the Milestones headlines as he closes in on his $7.5 million badge. Making new high marks of his own was The Netherlands #1-ranked player, Tommie ‘TommieJ’ Janssen who grinded his way past the $4 million lifetime earnings mark this week as well. Two More Join $2 Million Romania’s top-ranked pro Nedelcu ‘Narcisus90’ Narcis as well as ‘macqueen56’from France both topped the $2 million mark this week. Narcis’ sixth place finish in the PokerStars $215 Bounty Builder for nearly $4,500 on November 5 was the tournament that helped him get over the hump. In similar fashion, for the full-time grinder ‘macqueen56’ it was his runner-up finish in the partypoker $10,000 GTD on Monday, November 6. A career-high score, in terms of PLB points, for ‘PSCPRODIGY’ helped him become one of four players to earn $1 million in lifetime earnings this week. ‘PSCPRODIGY’, Thailand’s #2-ranked player, soared past the $1 million mark with his win in the PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $58,039 and 529.15 PLB points. Joining him in earning the million milestone was Lithuania’s ‘shakalas’, Zimbabwe’s ‘Rakietman’ and ‘Pustota’ who plays out of Cheboksary, Russia. ’Jughead11’ enters Top 100, ‘josef_shvejk’ & ‘rolandbauer’ ascend in Top 20 Nine players made moves in the Top 100 Worldwide rankings, with Joseph ‘Jughead11’ Lacasse appearing for the first time. As the Canadian Lacasse approached $500,000 in lifetime earnings, his new entry into the Top 100 can be attributed to a string of cashes boosted by his second-place finish in the PokerStars $215 Sunday Warmup in the last week of October, providing him over 373 PLB points and $34,940. Russia's‘josef_shvejk’ took another step towards the Top 10 as he moved from 16 to 15 in the rankings this week. Ranked #2 in all of Russia, his move up could likely be traced back to his first-place finish in the Hot $109 on PokerStars early in the week earning him over 205.18 PLB points in addition to the approximately $7,500. The most notable move of the week belongs to Austria’s ‘rolandbauer’ who leapt 18 spots from #30 right into the thick of the Top 20, landing at #12. Two big-time finishes in a 48 hours period not only gave him the boost he needed to get to the edge of the Top 10, but it also puts him on the precipice of $2 million in lifetime earnings. He took first place in partypoker’s Sunday Super High Roller for $55,809 and then, just days later, a second place finish in PokerStars Super Tuesday for another $41,988. 3. [caption width="640"] Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar and 'josef_shvejk' jumped into the top 10 of the PocketFives Rankings this week while 'C Darwin2' remained #1.[/caption] PocketFives Rankings saw no change this week, but two players cracked the top 10 - one of them for the first time in his career. Russia's 'josef_shvejk' moved from #13 to #8, marking his career-best ranking, while Sweden's Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar climbed from #12 to #7 - just three spots off of his previous best. After consistently moving up the rankings over the past several weeks, 'josef_shvejk' had two qualifying cashes this past week, an eighth place finish in a partypoker High Roller on December 19 for $3,233 and 111.41 PLB points and then he beat out 233 other players to win the $1,050 Super Tuesday on PokerStars for $46,687 and 500 points. Korsar's move comes thanks to a Sunday to remember. The Swedish grinder won the $2,100 PokerStars Sunday High Roller for $59,180 and then finished third in the PokerStars Sunday 500 for $19,338 and 229.89. The next day he finished third in the PokerStars Daily 500 for $7,337 and 122.96 points. With those two moving into the top 10, two had to drop out. Connor 'blanconegro' Drinan dropped from #9 to #17 and 'rolandbauer' moved from #10 to #12. Former #1 Fabrizio 'SixthSense19' Gonzalez now finds himself sitting just outside of the top 10 after moving up from #15 to #11. A week after picking up three wins on partypoker, Gonzalez hit the winner's circle just once, beating out 28 other players in the $500 High Roller Turbo on partypoker to win $7,186 and 122.47 points. Brazil's Renato Almeida 'bauruzito' Prado Valentim moved back into the top 25 this week, going from #26 to #21 and the #1-ranked player in Thailand, Jordan 'JWPRODIGY' Westmorland went from #28 to #24. Dropping out of the Top 25 this week was Chris 'Apotheosis' Kruk, who went from #22 to #26, and Germany's 'nilsef', who fell from #25 to #29. 4. [caption width="640"] Russian players continue to pile up impressive numbers with 'veeea' leading the way.[/caption] Even before Ivan Demidov made the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event final table, Russia was a burgeoning poker powerhouse. That has translated to the online game where a few of the nation’s finest have been in and currently reside inside the PocketFives worldwide top-10. Without further adieu, PocketFives is proud to introduce the first edition of the Russian rankings. Former worldwide #1 and current #5 ‘veeea’ leads the Russians with nearly 700 points standing between them and second place. ‘Veeea’ won WCOOP Event #6 ($1,050 Progressive KO $750K GTD) for $97,389 and 781.34 points and has gradually added to that total since. Among other cashes on the resume of ‘veeea’ include WCOOP payouts in the Main Event and a $5,200 side event. Following an October that saw them finish second in PLB points, ‘josef_shvejk’ is #2 in Russia. The largest win for ‘josef_shvejk’ so far in November is a victory in the Big 109. The first place came on November 4 and earned ‘josef_shvejk’ 205.18 points along with over $7,500. Poker is working out well for ‘NoPlanB’ who is third in Russia and #25 worldwide. ‘NoPlanB’ was up as high as third in the world in 2016 and recently moved over the $5 million mark in career earnings. One of those recent scores occurred on October 31 when ‘NoPlanB’ placed third in the PokerStars Bounty Builder High Roller for $10,432. Two players hovering below the 6,000 PLB point mark but holding strong at the fourth and fifth spot, respectively, are ‘hellohellohello’ and‘drupalucker.’ ‘hellohellohello’ gave warm greetings to two first place results last week, which earned them nearly $20,000 in the process. ‘drupalucker’ started their month off well with a win in the PokerStars Big $215, which came with 187.08 PLB points and $7,000. ‘papan9_p$’ stands less than 20 points ahead of ‘Flat’ for the sixth spot on the list. ‘Flat’ ended October with a bang by winning the partypoker High Roller Warm Up to pick up $16,767. ‘papan9_p$’ already has three wins less than two weeks into November. #8 ranked ‘Ti0’ started of November slow but is picking up the pace based on their win in the 888poker $10,000 Tornado on November 7. ‘MiracleQ’ is gradually accumulating points in the low and midstakes events on PokerStars and is currently ranked #56 in the world. Finally, in tenth place is ‘NikolasDLP’ who is holding onto the spot despite not having a cash yet in November. ‘NikolasDLP’ did close out partypoker Powerfest with a second place finish in the Championship event, which gave them over $122,000 and 659.75 points. 5. No PocketFiver enjoyed more success on 888poker in March than Russia's 'josef_shvejk', even though is month actually represents opportunity lost. Picking up $53,950 in earnings on 888poker put him $6,257 ahead of the next highest earner, but almost all of his winnings came from a pair of runner-up finishes in the $1,050 buy-in Whale event. The first came on March 11 when he took home $22,570 for finishing just behind fellow Russian PocketFiver 'papan9_p$'. He picked up the second second place finish two weeks later, taking home $23,924 behind 'B.Mitchell'. He had eight other 888poker cashes on the month for $7,456. The current #10-ranked player in the world, Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar, ended up with the second biggest month, banking $47,693.50. He did it thanks to four five-figure scores. Meanwhile, 'papan9_p$' rode his Whale win to a third best finish. Patrick Leonard continued to show the world why he's one of the best MTT players alive. The partypoker Ambassador and former #1-ranked player won the $1,050 buy-in Whale on March 18 for $34,100. It was his first cash on 888poker since October 2017. Austria's 'tiarc' rounded out the top five, picking up $33,964.94 in earnings in March. While the rest of the top five were reliant on big scores, 'tiarc' posted 16 cashes and none bigger than his $9,109 score from winning the $109 buy-in Sunday Challenge on March 18. Another former #1-ranked player, Fabrizio 'SixthSenSe19' Gonzalez, earned $25,459.33, most of that coming after he finished runner-up to Leonard in the Whale on March 18. He also picked up five other cashes that month. Thanks to 32 cashes, 'Kaktus26rus' came in seventh in March, winning $20,219.71. His biggest score came via the $88 buy-in Great 8 event on March 30. Beating 116 other players earned him $ 3,675. A true mid-stakes grinder, just three of his cashes came in events with buy-ins of $109 or larger. The Ukraine's Roman Romanovsky only cashed five times on 888poker in March, but still managed to make his way into the top 10. His biggest score of the month came in the $1,050 buy-in Whale on March 11 when he finished fifth for $8,540. 'nU3DOC' and 'proudflop' rounded out the top 10. Comin on the heels of his runner-up finish in the XL Blizzard Mini Main Event, Roman 'Romeopro' Romanovsky put together a dominant February on 888poker to be the top-earning PocketFiver on the site. It took just eight cashes for Romanovsky to rack up $71,621 in winnings. His biggest score came on February 4 when he won the $125,000 Whale for a $34,375 payday. Exactly three weeks later he finished runner-up to 'OlNKOinkOink' in the $100,000 Whale for $20,350. Proving he's not just about the big buy-in events, Romanovsky also managed to finish runner-up in the $88 buy-in $15,000 Great 8 event on the final day of the month to earn f$2,864. Sweden's Johannes 'Greenstone25' Korsar had the second best month of any PocketFiver on 888poker, but still found himself almost $30,000 behind Romanovsky. His biggest score came when he won the $50,000 Volcano event on February 27 for $15,008. A little over two weeks earlier, Korsar finished fourth in the $120,000 Volcano for $12,100. Canadian Sebastian 'p0cket00' Sikorski put up more volume than Romanovsky and Korsar on his way to winning $31,465.30. Of his 10 cashes, six were of the four-figure variety. His single biggest score came from a sixth-place finish in the $120,000 Whale for $6,655. Russian 'josef_shvejk' continued to dominate online, earning $28,740.75 on 888poker. 8. When it comes to playing live poker one of best advantages about entering a Six Max event is the extra legroom at the table, but when it comes to the online felt that bonus doesn't have as much sway with players... However, the latest 888poker XL Inferno Six Max tournaments still brought in the crowds as players went to battle over three short-handed tournaments with a total guarantee of $85,000. Event # 28 – $50,000 Six Max This $160 buy-in event came with a guaranteed prize pool of $50,000, but after 258 entrants came together, they had accumulated a pot worth $63,900 and a first-place prize worth $14,697. With the minimum cash set at $511.20, 30 players made the money spots before the final table of six was set. 'LeoFerran' was the first to depart for $2,619 before the German duo of 'allesrigged' and 'POKERPRO2.0' took away $3,834 and $5,112 in fifth and fourth place respectively. 'Charlymogo,' another player representing the German player pool, was the final player to fall before heads-up play got underway as they exited with the bronze medal and $7,668. This left 'TankeVicius' and Sweden's 'Mrpiink' to do battle and it was the Swede who got the better of their opponent for the title and first-place prize as 'TankeVicius' added $10,224 to their bankroll as runner-up. Event # 29 – $20,000 Mini Six Max The Mini Six Max featured a $30,000 buy-in and a $20,000 prize pool after 505 players registered. After a solid performance from German players in Event #28, it was the country's flag that sat in the first-place position in Event #29 after 'resilience32' took down the title. 'Csabicsekk', 'luegenlord2', 'luegenlord2', and 'tyalot30' were all able to make the final table but unable to make it into the final two spots before 'resilience32' defeated Austria's 'PhoenixRuffy', who took away $2,870, for the winner's prize of $3,870 and an XL Inferno title. Event # 30 – $15,000 Late Six Max The Late Six Max kicked off at 9 pm WET and gave players a final chance of Six Max victory. The prize pool beat the guarantee as it reached $16,200 after 230 players parted with the $55 buy-in. The top 30 were all paid minimum cash of $129.60, with 'HappySh00ter' the first player to fall at the final table of six for $664.20. 'adebisi5' was the next to depart and banked $972 for their efforts, with current world #23 and former 888poker $500,000 5th Anniversary Mega Deep winner 'josef_shvejk' having to settle for the fourth-place prize of $1,296. 'Jesusisback' just missed out on the final battle and banked $1,944 in third as the UK's 'acezzkingzzz' and Romania's 'ilovefish888' played out for the win. The difference between first and second prize was the considerable amount of $1,134, and it ultimately was 'ilovefish888' who went the distance and picked up the gold medal prize worth $3,376. 'acezzkingzzz' was rewarded with $2,592 for their second-place finish. Saturday’s XL Inferno Winners # Event Winner Payout 28 $50,000 Six Max ‘Mrpiink’ $14,697.00 29 $20,000 Mini Six Max ’resilience32′ $3,870.00 30 $15,000 Late Six Max 'ilovefish888' $3,376.00
  9. Just three days after 'hello_totti' took down the PokerStars Thursday Thrill the PocketFives #3-ranked player achieved a fine finish to his week by picking up a career-best top score and first PokerStars Sunday Million title after defeating 'Pthelegend' heads-up to win $160,888. Those two wins could be enough to propel the Russian player to the #1 spot for the first time in his career. Latvia's 'auercan' claimed the bronze medal for $79,231.39 before the final two battled it out. 'Pthelegend' was unable to get the better of the online legend 'hello_totti' and exited as runner-up for $112,092. Gary 'quiditbear' Hasson was crowned this week's PokerStars $2,100 Sunday High Roller champion after he beat out a 109 player field. Hasson took the $49,928 top-prize after a heads-up battle with 'SwalzB,' who collected the $37,594 runners-up prize after 'Pimmss' had exited in third place for $28,307. 'JWLMRS' won just over $60,700 for victory in the $530 Bounty Builder High Roller, after 881 entrants created a prize pool worth $440,500. 'JWLMRS' won $23,682 in bounties alone after '4rebmun' exited in second-place for over $38,000 and 'bk0705' had banked over $23,000 in third. Current world ranked #12 'Sasuke234' beat Russia's 'pokanuktus' heads-up for victory in the PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up and the first-place prize worth $34,431. After 'agus_amestoy' had departed in third place for $17,799, 'pokanuktus' was the final player to fall and banked $24,755, as 'Sasuke234', who has over $9.4m in online earnings, picked up another gold medal for their tally. 'PicassoToo' wasn't able to get the better of 'Drulitooo' on this occasion and had to settle for a second-place finish worth over $17,700. 'ACHSO8000' saw off competition from 'jo1ntheparty' to be crowned this week's partypoker $2,500 Super Sunday High Roller champion for $54,987. 'Drulitooo' featured on another final table, this time banking $18,675 in fourth place before Samuel 'JHelppi' Vousdon, who lost out to his BITB partner Patrick Leonard heads-up in this event last week, found himself on the final table once more but this time he had to settle for the bronze medal worth $26,975. 'jo1ntheparty' was ultimately the final player to fall and banked $38,387 in second place as 'ACHSO8000' picked up the win. partypoker ambassador Kristen 'krissyb24' Bicknell took second place in the partypoker $530 Sunday Main Event for $21,407 after she fell to 'uwannagobud' heads-up. The tournament exceeded its $125,000 guarantee after 316 entrants created a $158,000 prize pool. 'ACHSO8000' added $15,535 onto the $54,987 they received for victory in the Super High Roller by taking third-place, before Bicknell exited during the final battle and 'uwannagobud' took the win for $29,498. 'josef_shvejk' went the distance in the 888poker $1,050 The $80,000 Whale and claimed the $26,000 first-place prize. The top eight places were paid after 72 entrants took part, as Poland's 'asiarat' finished in third place $12,000. 10. While Sunday was the start of the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker, Monday was the first day with multiple titles awarded and millions of dollars in prize pools being awarded. The biggest winner from the 15 events that played to a winner was Romania's 'jah1923' who scored an outright win in Event #4 Medium ($215 No Limit Hold'em Sunday Million Special Edition) for $193,055.14. That event drew 6,794 runners to push the total prize pool to $1,358,800. 'jah1923' wasn't the only player to take home a six-figure score. Runner-up 'Lapideum' wound up winning $132,753.26 for outlasting all but one player. 'BrightStripe' took home the winner's share of $76,314.44 after chopping Event #2 High ($1,050 No Limit Hold'em) with 'ale6ka' and 'Machiavelli3'. The final table also included Arseniy 'josef_shvejk' Karmatskiy and Alex 'lynskey99' Lynskey. Julian 'nailuj90' Stuer picked up the win in Event #3 High ($2,100 Eight Max No Limit Hold'em PKO) for $96,971.08. Stuer also earned $87,312.49 in bounties. His final bounty came from runner-up 'Armani1974'. The German pro had to settle for $72,075.64 from the prize pool and an additional $32,812.51 in bounties. The most high-profile heads-up battle of the day came between Germany's 'nilsef' and former #1-ranked Chris 'Big Huni' Hunichen. The two managed to outlast the 197 other players in Event #10 High ($2,100 Eight Max No Limit Hold'em Win the Button) before agreeing to a chop. 13. Markku 'markovitsus' Koplimaa had himself a very busy - and very fruitful - July as took down the PocketFives Leaderboard for the month. Koplimaa picked up 2,601 PLB points through his 20 qualifying cashes to win the Monthly PLB for the first time in his career. Koplimaa's biggest score came from a runner-up finish in the PokerStars High Roller Club $1,050 Sunday Warm-Up event on July 14. Not only did he win $22,826.70, but he also picked up 246.86 PLB points. His second biggest score came three days prior when he beat out 104 other players in the PokerStars High Roller Club $530 Daily Supersonic for $12,785 and 231.3 PLB points. Those were the only two times that Koplimaa picked up more than 200 PLB points. He did have 16 other cashes that earned him between 108.31 and 180.68 points. The biggest of those scores came when he finished second to former #1 'veeea' in the High Roller Club $530 Sunday 500 on July 7. He added $12,179 to his winnings and 180.68 to his PLB total. He also won a $109 NLHE (Six Max Hyper-Turbo), a pair of Big $44s, a $215 Bounty Builder Saturday Special, and a Hotter $82 all in the month of July. Only two of his 20 qualifying cashes earned him less than 100 points. All told, Koplimaa cashed 397 times in July amassing $163,496 in winnings. Geraldo Cesar 'GeraldoCesar' Neto finished one spot and 133 PLB points behind Koplimaa. Neto's biggest score came on July 28 after he beat out 3,290 other players in the PokerStars $109 Bounty Builder to win $23,679.72 and 405.65 PLB points. That same day he took down the PokerStars Hotter $215 for $16,347 and 301.33 PLB points. He also final-tabled the PokerStars Sunday Million on July 21, finishing eighth for $11,891 and 300.25 PLB points. Former #1-ranked Sebastian 'p0cket00' Sikorski rounded out the podium finishers, scoring 2,274 PLB points to finish third. Sikorski's biggest PLB score came thanks to his win in a 421-player field in the $215 Monday Six Max on PokerStars on July 22. Sikorski earned $15,185.10 and 290.17 PLB points. He also won the PokerStars Hotter $215 on July 14, and a pair of $109 Six Max events on July 18 and 31. The top-finishing American in July was New Jersey online poker grinder Vladimir 'Donate_here' Alexandrov who rode a third-place finish in the $3,200 High Roller bracelet event on WSOP.com on July 4. He won $173,241.39 and 694.53 PLB points. Playing only on regulated sites in New Jersey, Alexandrov managed a total of 23 cashes with 20 of them earning him enough points to crack the top five of the July PLB. Rounding out the top five, just nine points behind Alexandrov, was Britain's Patrick 'thebigdog09' Brooks. His biggest score came on July 14 when he took down the PokerStars Hotter $55 for $9,320 and 257.97 PLB points. Two days prior to that, he beat out the 252-player field in the High Roller Club: $530 Bounty Builder HR for $12,114 and 251 PLB points. 15. As we move into 2020, PocketFives takes a look back at the year that was in poker news, going month-by-month through the biggest and most important stories of 2019. November involved two big pieces of news involving Daniel Negreanu, and then, of course, we got the launch of legal online poker in Pennsylvania. Data Error Finds Negreanu Not WSOP POY After it was originally announced that Daniel Negreanu was the 2019 World Series of Poker Player of the Year, a data-entry error was discovered by Russian poker journalist Alex Elenskiy that resulted in Negreanu being credited for more points than he should have. WSOP officials were made aware of the issue, verified the error, and then corrected the 2019 WSOP Player of the Year standings, with Australian Robert Campbell being awarded the title. "We have confirmed an error was made in our results for WSOP Event #68, affecting places 32-46," a WSOP statement read. "As a result, Daniel Negreanu was given 213.1 points erroneously in this event. We deeply regret this error and its impact. Recalculating our Player of the Year results has an impact to the standings. Robert Campbell finishes in 1st place in the now final results, with Negreanu dropping to third place. Again, we apologize profusely for the error in our calculations and the impact it has had." Also involved was Shaun Deeb, who ultimately finished second in the race. Deeb was vocal and very upset with what had happened, and the entire debacle caused plenty of a stir within the poker community. [ptable zone="Global Poker Article Ad"][ptable zgone="888poker NJ"][ptable zone="GG Poker"] Negreanu Signs with GGPoker After he parted ways with PokerStars back in May, Daniel Negreanu signed a new sponsorship deal with GGPoker. The new deal came six months following the part between Negreanu and PokerStars and saw Negreanu become an ambassador for GGPoker.com. Negreanu made the announcement via a social media video.
