  1. While the three 2020 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker Main Events all played down to a final table on Tuesday, the fans of the great game of Pot Limit Omaha were tuned into to watch the PLO Main Events crown a new champion and all three of the buy-in levels came through with a top player standing in the winner's circle. Sweden's 'jedimaster82' beat Ola ‘Odd_Oddsen’ Amundsgaard heads up to win Event #73 High ($10,300 PLO Main Event) for $283,368.15 and their first WCOOP victory. Amundsgaard collected $217,808.59 for his runner-up performance. Kahle 'ROFLshove' Burns outlasted 787 other entries in event #73 Medium ($1,050 PLO Main Event) to pocket $133,757 along with the first WCOOP title of his storied career. The final PLO Main Event went to the current #1-ranked online poker player in Germany. 'nilsef' and 'GHOSTFACE9.8' chopped Event #73 Low ($109 PLO Main Event) with 'nilsef' taking home $40,224.38 and the title. This is the fifth time 'nilsef' has captured WCOOP glory, making him the fifth player to do so. 'Roche9797', who captured Event #68 Medium just two days earlier, came out on top of Event #75 High ($1,050 NLHE Series Saver) to become the 18th player to win two WCOOP titles this year. The win came with $97.526.11 from the prize pool and another $74,277.26 in bounties. The first event on the 2020 WCOOP schedule finally wrapped up on Tuesday. 'estebangocu' topped Phase 2 of Event #1 ($215 NLHE) to win $215,006.07 and their first WCOOP title. (PokerStars photo / Neil Stoddart)[/caption] Every week The PocketFives Milestone Report looks at the online poker players who are achieving career-best achievement or reaching new heights in the rankings Belgium's 'girafganger7' Soars to Career-Best Rank Nobody had a bigger jump in the PocketFives Rankings this past week than Belgium's 'girafganger7', who moved from #39 to #5 - an all-time high. The big jump is the result of five big cashes that earned him 777.83 PLB points. He was already the #1-ranked player in Belgium, and now has more than double the points of the next highest fellow countryman. There were seven other players who hit career-high rankings in the top 100 this past week. Brazil's 'brunovolks' went from #33 to #27. James 'Jaymo' Noon rose from #50 to #38. Diego 'MrBittar' Bittar #45 to #43 Kenny 'SpaceyFCB' Hallaert #63 to #56 Adrijan 'Adrijan_s' Sinishtaj #61 to #59 'truchota' #95 to #92 'paylakos' #99 to #96 The $5M Club Finally Gets a German This might sound like a surprise, but until this past week, there wasn't a single PocketFiver from Germany with at least $5,000,000 in lifetime earnings. That all changed though as 'nilsef' broke through the $5M barrier after posting a min-cash in the PokerStars Mini-Super Tuesday. The next closest German is Giuseppe 'LeChiffre19' Pantaleo with $4,967,677. 'DeathByQuads' Hits $3,000,000 Swedish online poker players continue to be a force on the PocketFives Rankings and the all-time earnings list. 'DeathByQuads' passed the $3,000,000 earnings milestone this past week, becoming the 22nd Swedish player to do so. Other players to hit million-dollar milestones this past week were 'seahawk89' ($2,000,000) and MrNorberto ($1,000,000) Diego 'Die Ventura' Ventura Highlights Biggest PLB Scores Just four players hit career-high marks for PLB Scores over 500 points this week, but none were bigger than Peru's Diego 'Die Ventura' Ventura. 3. The PocketFives Rankings are all about showcasing the best online poker players in the world, but if you look beyond the worldwide rankings and focus on the race for #1 in individual countries, the races are often times a lot closer. In the debut edition of The Number Ones, we take a look at the top-ranked players from Argentina, Belgium, Japan, Germany and Greece. Argentina - Ramiro 'Ramiro' Petrone Sitting atop the Argentina rankings, Ramiro Petrone has quietly become one of the most dominant players in the world. With 8,845.56 PLB points, Petrone has almost 3,500 more than his next closest countryman. On April 11, Petrone put together series of cashes to solidify his position inside the top 10 of the Worldwide Rankings. He won $20,000 Mega Deep on 888poker and then posted third place finishes in the Six Max Wednesday High Roller and the Bounty Hunter High Roller on partypoker for nearly $25,000 and nearly 470 points. He capped all of that off by taking down the partypoker Super Sunday Main Event (High) for $28,426 and 410.49 points on APril 16. Belgium - Gary 'quiditbear' Hasson Playing exclusively on PokerStars, Gary 'quiditbear' Hasson has managed to put together a 1,255 point lead over the next highest-ranked player in Belgium, 'oempaloempah'. Hasson has picked up only two qualifying cashes in April, but in March he picked up the biggest PLB score of his career thanks to a runner-up finish in the PokerStars High Rollers Event #12. He added 433.63 points to his total and $64,422 to his bankroll. In fact, his eight best PLB scores have all come inside the last six months. Currently ranked #32 in the world, Hasson has been as high as #22. Germany - 'nilsef' Of the 932 PocketFivers in Germany, the player at the top is 'nilsef'. With $6.46 million in career earnings and 533 MTT wins, the Schleswig-Holstein resident is head and shoulders above the rest of his homeland. 'Nilsef' puts in volume at all buy-in levels and has already cashed 218 times in April alone. That includes 24 wins, 41 podium finishes and 94 top 10 results. His best result of 2018 came on March 20 when he finished just off the podium in the PokerStars High Rollers Series Event #8 for $14,110 and 177.34 points. He's now 1,322.82 points ahead of #2-ranked 'Grozzorg' and almost 1,500 points ahead of #3-ranked 'SmilleThHero'. Greece - 'sinkedshrimp' If things continue on their current path for Greece's #1-ranked player, 'sinkedshrimp', some time in early 2019 he'll hit the $1 million earnings milestone. In the meantime though, he's going to be challenged to hold on to the #1 spot. With 4,849.03 PLB points, he's just 35.12 points ahead of #2-ranked 'apostolis20'. The end of March was a good time for 'sinkedshrimp'. He picked up three qualifying cashes on March 29. He finished third in a $215 Six Max NLHE event on PokerStars, then had finished second in the PokerStars Fat Thursday and in the partypoker Bounty Hunter High Roller. All told he pocketed over $22,000 and 468 points. Japan - 'Lestatdiego' There are just 36 Japanese PocketFivers with the #1 spot belonging to 'Lestatdiego'. He solidified his grasp on that spot on April 25, beating out 1,370 other players in the $22 Bounty Builder on PokerStars for $2,069 and 117.09 points. Four of his five best PLB scores have come in 2018.
  4. As this year's Spring Championship of Online Poker edges closer to its final few days of play 12 more titles were handed out on Thursday but nobody walked away with a bigger score than 'Remi Lebo_10'. The Ukranian grinder won a massive $236,000 on Day 13 of SCOOP after he was crowned Event #45-High Thursday Thrill champion. 'dadowiec' was able to defeat 'Vico$carpini' heads-up to win Event #44-High ($530 Six Max NLHE) for $75,202, with the Brazilian runner-up banking $52,400. The $55 'Medium' crown went to 'El Pulgoso', who picked up their first SCOOP title after defeating 'sprocketsAA' for the first-place prize of $28,747. In the $5.50 'Low', 'cl1nt0n','Reiarturo','Harald308' and 'zachuPL' agreed to a four-way money-deal before 'cl1nt0n' went on to claim the victory and a $5,655 score. Event #45 saw the conclusion of both the Thursday Thrill and the Mini Thrill as 'Remi Lebo_10' and Ben 'jenbizzle' Jones picked up the wins. 'Remi Lebo_10', who is currently ranked #2 in Ukraine just behind high-stakes crusher Roman Romanovsky, came through a tough final table that featured former world #1's 'p0cket00' and Joao Simao, Simon 'IgorKarkarof' Pedersen, 'hneves182' and Razvan 'razvyqq' Belea. Maszat 'noirduck' Marci was the Ukrainian's opponent heads-up before the Hungarian fell and took the $91,008 runner-up prize as former Sunday Warm-Up champion 'Remi Lebo_10' collected their first SCOOP title and a prize total worth $236,782 (including bounties). The UK's Ben 'jenbizzle' Jones picked up his second SCOOP title of the series after a gold medal in the 'Medium' Mini Thursday Thrill. Jones collected his largest online cash to date just eight days ago when he won Event #14-Low for $162,039 and proved it wasn't a fluke by going all the way once again for a total of $93,446 (including bounties). 'deeflame7' was the player he defeated heads-up and they claimed a total of $47,238 for second place. 'ScarantoLeo' navigated their way through the sizeable 13,415 player field in the $22 'Low' to bank $21,285. It was another example of the SCOOP series giving players the chance to win big scores for low buy-ins, with 'Ninelichkaa' collecting $12,925 as runner-up. Event #46 saw another set of 8-Game tournaments come into the SCOOP mix as 'jutrack' took down the $530 'High' for $34,440. On the final table of six, PocketFives' Germany #1 'nilsef' was the first to exit for $6,560, with former world #1 'shaundeeb' taking fourth for $13,120. After 'ROBBED6969' took away $18,860 for third, 'KeysOfCyprus' was left to do battle with 'jutrack' but ultimately had to settle for the silver medal prize of $25,092. A three-way deal in the $55 'Medium' saw 'TheAmazonas' earn $6,144 for third-place, 'BlackJJesus' pick up $5,575 for second-place and 'gangst3rn1' the title alongside $7,617 in first. The $5.50 'Low' was taken down by 'calvin7v' for $2,130 after they eliminated 'ohhsuitsusir' into second for $1,554. The final tournaments on Day 13 of SCOOP saw Event #51 3-Max Turbo Zoom No Limit Hold'em PKO. Daniel 'starwins :)' Petersen came out on top in the $530 'High' for a total of $75,564 after he defeated 'wubblepig' heads-up once a deal was agreed. The runner-up took away a total of $42,416 for their share of the deal, with well-known UK grinder Tom 'Jabracada Hall' also banking a total of $16,758 after he finished in fourth-place from the 1,190 player field. Gustavo 'PIUlimeira' Goto won the $55 'Medium' for $30,865 after David 'daveyt86' Tompkins had exited in second-place for $16,215. Ireland's Paul 'ros1987' Allen took third-place for a total of $13,995 after Arthur Souza de Campos exited in fourth for $7,822. And in the $5.50 'Low', 'Stathis SP#3' was the final player standing from the 16,080 player field to earn the title and a total of $5,993 after they defeated 'costa1102' heads-up, who won a prize of $3,689, including bounties. 5. Almost every year since its inception, the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker has developed a theme as the schedule progressed. It's been the Year of the Brazilians and the Year of the Canadians and the year of the first time winners. As 2018 SCOOP draws to a close it could be argued that this year is the Year of the Big Names. Sunday was no different with 18 different players picking up SCOOP titles with Anatoly Filatov, Ludovic Geilich and German phenom 'nilsef' all earning one. Geilich conquered a final table in Event #52-High ($1,050 Seven Card Stud) that included Shaun Deeb, Adam Owen, Mike Leah and Connor Drinan to win $20,437.50 and his first SCOOP title. It pairs nicely with his World Championship of Online Poker title he won in 2016 in the $21,000 Pot Limit Omaha High Roller event. Deeb now has 31 cashes during this year's SCOOP including four final tables. Germany's 'nilsef' beat out 330 other entries in the Medium version of the event to win $6,371.91 and his first SCOOP title. The win will help him maintain his hold on the #1-ranking in Germany. The biggest winner from Sunday's docket was Filatov. The Russian took $96,272.67 from the regular prize pool and an additional $86,683.53 in bounties for topping the 1,207-player field in Event #60-High ($1,050 NLHE PKO Turbo). 'Kematah' earned $69,899.54 and another $34,003.90 in bounties as the runner-up while former Sunday Million champion 'Dannyz0r' finished third for $50,751.39 and $15,937.51 worth of bounties. Dutch grinder 'etxnl01' picked up his second career SCOOP title after beating out 1,819 other entries in Event #53-High ($530 Eight Max NLHE PKO Win The Button). The win added $125,962 to his bankroll. He now has two SCOOP victories and one WCOOP title on his resume. Daniel 'starwins :)' Petersen picked up just over $75,000 - a career-high - after topping Event #51-High ($530 Three Max NLHE PKO Zoom Turbo). 6. While Sunday was the start of the 2018 World Championship of Online Poker, Monday was the first day with multiple titles awarded and millions of dollars in prize pools being awarded. The biggest winner from the 15 events that played to a winner was Romania's 'jah1923' who scored an outright win in Event #4 Medium ($215 No Limit Hold'em Sunday Million Special Edition) for $193,055.14. That event drew 6,794 runners to push the total prize pool to $1,358,800. 'jah1923' wasn't the only player to take home a six-figure score. Runner-up 'Lapideum' wound up winning $132,753.26 for outlasting all but one player. 'BrightStripe' took home the winner's share of $76,314.44 after chopping Event #2 High ($1,050 No Limit Hold'em) with 'ale6ka' and 'Machiavelli3'. The final table also included Arseniy 'josef_shvejk' Karmatskiy and Alex 'lynskey99' Lynskey. Julian 'nailuj90' Stuer picked up the win in Event #3 High ($2,100 Eight Max No Limit Hold'em PKO) for $96,971.08. Stuer also earned $87,312.49 in bounties. His final bounty came from runner-up 'Armani1974'. The German pro had to settle for $72,075.64 from the prize pool and an additional $32,812.51 in bounties. The most high-profile heads-up battle of the day came between Germany's 'nilsef' and former #1-ranked Chris 'Big Huni' Hunichen. The two managed to outlast the 197 other players in Event #10 High ($2,100 Eight Max No Limit Hold'em Win the Button) before agreeing to a chop. The heads-up battle saw 'nilsef' beat Hunichen to take home $74,459.48 while Hunichen had to settle for $66,459.48. This is the second WCOOP title for 'nilsef'. The first came in 2010 in Event #10 ($250 Pot-Limit Omaha Knockout). After the tournament wrapped up, Hunichen tweeted about his lack of success in heads-up battles. 7. There was plenty of action during the fifth full day of the PokerStars 2018 World Championship of Online Poker. Fourteen total tournaments were in action on Friday and six new WCOOP Champions were crowned. The biggest winner of the day was Canadian grinder ‘SinKarma’. They topped the 334-player field in Event #21 High ($2,100 Four Max, No Limit Hold’em) for $124,143.98, the only six-figure cash of the day. Poland’s ‘voytech75’ settled for second place, walking with a score of over $82,000. The rest of the four-handed final table was rounded out by South Korea’s ‘level1pro’ who won $55,438.92 and Austrian pro ‘Tankanza’ who added $37,047.61 to his winnings. It was mere months ago that ’Tankanza’ picked up a massive win in PokerStars $10,300 NLHE Spring Championship Of Online Poker Main Event for a seven-figure score of $1,133,160. Other notable names that went deep in this contest included Chris ‘Big Huni’ Hunichen (10th place - $15,840.95), PokerStars Ambassador Jason ‘jcarverpoker’ Sommerville (11th - $15,840.95), Shaun ‘shaundeeb’ Deeb (14th - $11,934), ‘bencb’ (17th - $8,990.67), Jon ‘apestyles’ Van Fleet (21 - $8,990.67) and Germany’s ‘nilsef’, who has already earned himself two WCOOP titles in 2018. ‘phounderAA’ defeated the 1,896 player field in Event #21 Medium ($215 Four Max, No Limit Hold’em), taking home the $56,901.32 first place prize. While ‘*M@RC0* A’ navigated through the 8,177 players who registered for Event #6 Low ($22 Four Max, No Limit Hold’em) en route to a three-way chop that gave him $18,165.57 and the title of WCOOP Champion. The other event that wrapped up on Friday was Event #24 (Three Max, Turbo, Progressive KO, Zoom, No Limit Hold’em). The UK’s ‘la_benjjjjj’ was, far and away, the overwhelming winner in the $530 High Event. He defeated the three-handed final table and took home $47,479.59 for first. On top of that, he earned another $35,05086 in bounties. His bounty haul alone was more than ‘venomrtgllwi’ earned for second place, winning $31,035.57 as the runner-up and an additional $3,080.08 in bounties. Event #24 Medium ($55 Three Max, Turbo, Progressive KO, Zoom, No Limit Hold’em) was won by Romans ’RovoDice’ Voitovs from Latvia. Voitovs earned $24,844.67 for the win and another $10,158.23 in bounties. He’s currently the #5-ranked player in Latvia and with the victory, he sits just outside of $1.5 million in lifetime recorded earnings. The Russian pro is well-known for his over $3 million in career life earnings, including his victory in the partypoker MILLIONS Russia Main Event for $944K, but his online grind is as good as anyone in the game right now. He finished as the runner-up in the February 3 edition of the PokerStars High Roller Club $2,100 Sunday High Roller for $41,499 and 327.23 PLB points. That same day he posted a third-place result in the partypoker Sunday High Roller for another $23,200. Filatov sits less than 100 points behind the #10-ranked Ramiro ‘Ramiro’ Petrone. He needs just needs one or two more PLB qualifying scores to push him into yet another new career-high ranking and into the steep climb to the top spot. Filatov currently sits with over $4.3 million in career online earnings. Sami ‘LarsLuzak’ Kelopuro (#12) Legendary online nosebleed cash game grinder Sami ‘LarsLuzak’ Kelopuro has been finding plenty of success in online tournaments as of late and his results have helped him to climb one spot this week to a career-high ranking of #12 in the world. Finland’s #1-ranked player got a big PLB boost from his victory in Event #24 of PokerStars Turbo Series ($1,050 No Limit Hold’em Eight Max Progressive KO). He took home $56,225 and 570.96 PLB points for the score. It was a tidy week for Kelopuro who put in light volume but saw hefty results. He only racked up 10 total cashes, however, he managed to earn over $86,000. This was with the help of his bronze medal finish in the February 8 edition of the PokerStars High Roller Club $530 Daily Supersonic for an additional $11,551. For Kelopuro, if he can bring in one more big-time score he may find himself in the same scenario as Filatov, breaking through to the top 10 for the first time. He sits only 97 PLB points behind #10-ranked Petrone, and less than that behind Filatov himself. Bruno ‘brunovolks’ Volkmann (#20) This is not Bruno ‘brunovolks’ Volkmann’s first time gracing the Movers And Shakers column as the Brazilian has been surging up (and down) the upper echelon of the rankings for months. This week he shot up eight positions, which was enough to overtake Joao ‘joaosimaobh’ Simao as the #1-ranked player in all of Brazil. Volkmann’s PLB surge coincided with two victories last week. The first took place during the PokerStars.es Carnaval Series, Event #9 (€50 No Limit Hold’em Big Stack, Turbo, Six Max) for $14,887 and 323.62 PLB points. He followed that up with a win in the PokerStars High Roller Club $1,050 Daily Warm-up for another $33,467/407.43 PLB points. In total, Volkmann picked up five PLB qualifying cashes to jump back into the worldwide top 25, landing at #20 this week. Volkmann has an outside chance to get back to his career high ranking of #16 if he finds his way back to the online tables by the end of the week. He sits only 5 PLB points behind Steve ‘MrTimCaum’ O’Dwyer at #19 and fewer than 200 points away from Chris ‘Getting Daize’ Oliver who holds down the #16 spot this week. ‘dartazzzz’ (#36) Lithuania’s #1-ranked ‘dartazzzz’ made a major leap back into the top 50 this week. His performance last week vaulted him 24 spots to land at #36 in the world. He picked up three PLB qualifying cashes, including a victory in the Event #6 of the PokerStars.es Carnaval Series (€250 Sunday Special Progressive KO Eight Max) for over $27,000 and 417.97 PLB points. He also bubbled the final table of the February 3 partypoker Sunday High Roller Grind for $3,560/112.33 PLB points. In total, ‘dartazzzz’ picked up over 30 cashes last week for a sum of just over $53,000. He just recently achieved the $4 million lifetime total milestone so his 2019 will be focused on climbing to the $5 million mark and fending off any of the other four Lithuanian’s that are battling it out in the top 100. This includes ’necgaidziai’ who just this week broke through into the top 100, landing at a career-high ranking of his own at #86. ‘nilsef’ (#40) Former top 20 German grinder ‘nilsef’ finds himself, once again, as the nation’s #1-ranked player. February 3 was a spectacular Sunday for 'nilsef' as he picked up three PLB qualifying scores, two of which were outright victories. It started with an 11th place finish in the PokerStars High Roller Club $1,050 Sunday Warm-up for $5,455 and 129.28 PLB points. He followed that up with the first of his victories in the PokerStars $44 Bounty Builder besting a field of 5,851 for $14,502/342.08 PLB points. 'nilsef' then wrapped that day up with another takedown of the PokerStars $82 No Limit Hold’em Hyper-Turbo for over $4,000/150.76 PLB points. He leapfrogs Arturs ‘Artschgamble’ Scerbaks, who climbed three spots this week himself, landing at #47. ‘nilsef’ has over $7.8 million in lifetime earnings, which places him at #34 on the All-Time Online Money List. Every week, PocketFives updates the complete Online Poker Rankings.
