It has been one hell of a year so far for Casey bigdogpckt5sJarzabek (pictured). His epic three-week domination of the online poker community in 2013 has seen him chop the PokerStars Sunday Milliontwice and win the site’s Super Tuesday for a combined haul of nearly $350,000. Did we mention that 2013 is just three weeks old? PocketFives caught up with its longtime member to talk about his truly historical performance.

PocketFives: Tell us about your epic two-week run in the Sunday Million.

Casey Jarzabek: I played pretty well. I ran extremely well. In the Super Tuesday I won, I feel like I played awesome. I didn’t really get to showdown a lot. In the first Sunday Million, I ran absurdly well and the second Sunday Million was a combination of playing well and running well.

PocketFives: So it’s more confidence and playing well than the way the cards fell?

Casey Jarzabek: Definitely. I basically made good decisions and was batting almost 1,000 when picking my spots to make some unorthodox plays. Everything is just coming together right now for me.

PocketFives: The odds of a three-peat are?

Casey Jarzabek: I can’t say I haven’t thought about it, but I’m a realist. Before this run, I had never final tabled it before. It’s the one Sunday Major I hadn’t. So, I’d say almost 0%.

PocketFoves: Does a streak like this cause you to want to play more?

Casey Jarzabek: I basically took all of last year off. The Super Tuesday was part of my first real MTT session in a long time. So, when I jumped back into it, I was motivated already. And obviously with this absurd run I’m on, that hasn’t changed. I’m ready to grind it up for sure.

PocketFives: Why did you take a year off?

Casey Jarzabek: My son is a year old now. So, I basically took the first year of his life off. He is an amazing little man and he was my focus last year He’s a trooper. He was walking and running by 11 months old. He does some talking, but it’s mostly baby ranting. He can get whole sentences out, but you can’t understand what he’s trying to say, although you can see he’s trying hard.

PocketFives: Was the break from poker much needed?

Casey Jarzabek: I needed to recharge the poker batteries. I was grinding 50, 60, and 70 hours a week back in 2010 and 2011. It took its toll. So, it’s just something I needed to do for multiple reasons and it gave me time to focus on some things in life that are paramount and most important.

PocketFives: What happened to Tournament Poker Edge during the year? Did you take a step back from that?

Casey Jarzabek: I still did some content during that time, but I played basically just when I needed to make content. TPE is doing really well and we had a lot of fresh blood come in and make videos last year. So, it has continued to grow. It’s off the charts right now and is one of my greatest accomplishments in poker. I love each and every member. It’s our own family.

PocketFives: Where do you think your feat ranks in online poker history?

Casey Jarzabek: Obviously, I think it’s a good one. I know Flush_Entity (pictured) final tabled it back-to-back. I’d say it’s up there with some good accomplishments. Throw in the fact that I won the Super Tuesday the same week and it’s quite a run. I was at Fallsview playing the series there and everyone was like, “Wow, dude, that week is just unheard of” when I won the Super Tuesday and chopped the Sunday Million the same week. That was before the second Sunday Million.

I’ll leave it to others to put it in its place in poker history, but it’s something I’m proud of, no doubt about it. The support I have received from the poker community, for the most part, has been overwhelming. I feel pretty honored to be part of this experience.

PocketFives: You were once ranked #3 worldwide in 2010 on PocketFives and you just got a truckload of PLB Points with your recent cashes. How high do you want to go or think you can go this year in the PocketFives Rankings?

Casey Jarzabek: If I stay motivated, I still won’t put the volume in that I use to, so I can’t expect to climb to high. I think if I put my big boy pants on and went to work, though, it’s realistic to think I could crack the top 10 again with these three big scores. However, even though I’m ready to play again, it’s going to be three or four sessions a week tops, so I might crack the top 100. I haven’t really thought about it.
