One of the major storylines of January in the online poker world has been the domination of Casey bigdogpckt5sJarzabek (pictured), who chopped the PokerStars Sunday Millionon January 13 and January 20 for over a quarter of a million dollars combined. After the back-to-back chops, he is now just a few thousand dollars shy of becoming the first PocketFiver of 2013 to reach $5 million in tracked cashes. We’d say he’s pretty good at poker.

The January 13 PokerStars Sunday Million fetched a field of 7,419 players, who together built a prize pool of $1.4 million. Jarzabek’s haul of $137,000 in the four-way chop was the third largest payday handed down and he was the highest finishing member of our online poker community. The final table cashed out as follows:

1. nietbangzijn – $186,792.27
2. Chaz D 87 – $112,251.39
3. TTimallin – $147,155.23
4. bigdogpckt5s – $137,488.43 (bigdogpckt5s)
5. proFISHnal – $60,835.80 (proFISHnal)
6. osten – $45,997.80
7. UKKage – $31,901.70 (UKKage)
8. Spyver – $17,805.60 (Spyver)
9. MazR1m – $11,499.45

This past Sunday, January 20, Jarzabek was back at it, this time participating in a five-way chop of the marquee PokerStars tournament for another $118,000. The tournament drew 7,324 entrants, which means in the last two weeks, Jarzabek has faced a total field size of well over 14,000. Once again, he was the highest finishing member of the PocketFives community:

1. stackarn – $164,701.22
2. murballz66 – $95,992.58
3. bigdogpckt5s – $118,154.40 (bigdogpckt5s)
4. francispoker – $134,793.79
5. RovoDice – $122,628.10 (RovoDice)
6. Vzsolt800 – $45,408.80
7. dionus77 – $31,493.20
8. Daddddymufff – $17,577.60
9. Somme – $11,352.20

Jarzabek’s feat will undoubtedly go down in poker lore. A thread on PocketFives commemorated it, with one PocketFiver from the Netherlands writing, “I guess that’s what happens when big skills meet run good, grats man!” A Canadian member of PocketFives chimed in, “Great job! BTW any chance this guy is a PokerStars house bot?”

Lost in all of this has been Jarzabek’s win in the PokerStars Super Tuesday on January 8, five days before his first Sunday Million chop. That tournament featured a field of 485 players and saw Jarzabek officially walk away with $93,000. He just passed $2.5 million in tracked MTT cashes on PokerStars lifetime and this year, we’ve logged a half-dozen top five finishes. Not a bad start to 2013:
