We’re down to 58 players in the 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event. With the Day 6 dinner break upon us, Daniel DeoxyriboStrelitz (pictured) leads the way with a monster stack of 9.1 million, light-years ahead of the second place stack of 7.8 million belonging to Danny Wong. The tournament is scheduled to play down to its final nine on Monday from the Rio in Las Vegas.

Danny Wong booked a massive double up just before the break for nourishment after calling Nicco Maag‘s 5bet all-in pre-flop. Wong tabled kings in the hand and was well ahead of Maag’s jacks. The board was a rather uneventful 10-7-2-3-3 and coverage on WSOP.com painted a picture of the scene: “Wong never lifted his head from the table for the entire deal. Once the river struck, Maag tapped the table and Wong lifted his head, a gleeful expression on his face. Wong is now among the chip leaders with 7,700,000 in chips, while Maag has suffered a huge hit, his stack at 4,530,000.”

Strelitz, meanwhile, was a one-man wrecking crew leading up to the Day 6 dinner break on Sunday. He 6bet all-in before the flop for 3.1 million with pocket kings and picked up a caller in Wilfried Haerig, who showed Big Slick and was a severe underdog. The board fell Q-5-2-3-2 and Strelitz doubled to 6.3 million.

But Strelitz wasn’t done there. In fact, he was far from it. After Eric Legoff 3bet all-in before the flop, Strelitz looked him up with pocket eights. Legoff showed pocket fives and could not overcome being a 4:1 underdog. The hand propelled Strelitz to 7.8 million in chips. He’d then force a fold in a pot worth 1.1 million to top out at north of nine million.

Strelitz Tweeted after the dinner bell had sounded, “9.1 at dinner break. Won 88>55 aipf for 1.5 each then won another one postflop. Think I’m chip leader.” He added, “Went on a sick heater. Gonna count now.” Strelitz and the rest of the 2012 WSOP Main Event participants are vying for a first place prize of $8.5 million. Everyone remaining is guaranteed $128,000.

Longtime PocketFives member Dave doubledave22D’Alesandro (pictured) bit the dust just before the dinner break after running A-J into the A-K of Charles Coultas. The board provided no relief for D’Alesandro, who went busto in 62nd place for $128,000.

He Tweeted upon his exit, “I’m out, lost AJ to AK aip pretty big cooler. Turned f draw but bricked cashed for 128k gl @dDeoxyribo still in.”
